It makes you old. Not being a smart arse, but it does. I can't see it on MY screen actually, as I have a sucky system. I can't see the changes myself, but when you have a high end system with the graphics turned up, you can see a noticible difference.

The thing is..no one *wants* to look old.

I've gotten a fair number of requests from people who want that aging bar bumped up one notch to look "experienced." Unfortunately, anything more than that is overkill. I wish there were more subtle grades of aging, or something more immediately apparent from far away (such as "graying temples").

I bumped up my aging bar a notch when first creating my charatcer. I did so because it went with his story of picking up entertainment as a profession in his mid-30s after the corperate world burned him out. I wanted him to look like he'd had a very stressful life before he picked up a slitherhorn. The experince also prematurely grayed his hair.

ahem.... ok geek talk.... you need a video card that can "pixel shred" so you can have wrinkles, saying a pretty new good card. i had my old card no wrinkles, now with new card wow i look old.

Well, I'm glad someone asked this question, since it's something I've been wondering about for a long time! Now I know it's not broken, just that I have a sucky vid card.

Having a good vid card is creepy too though. You go into malls and shops and you can see how old and wrinkled most of the vendors really are. It's disturbing to see a Twi'lek in revealing bikini and skirt and she's a wrinkle-faced hag. And some players too. You get up close to them and they are prunes. I don't think they can see that they either bumped up the Age slider in creation or maybe there was an ID "accident."

LOL, I bought a couple of copies of the Total Experience just for the BARC speeders.

I made one a near exact duplicate of myJedi alt, with a different hairstyle. Then I made an old, wrinkled, gray haired version of my Jedi. And proceeded to RP thatthe old guywas my Dad, and the other guy was my brother, who'd come to tell me that my Mom had died.

You should have seen the /tells and the crowd gathering once these "knock offs" of my character showed up! Everybody was freaking out, withmy two "relatives"asking where my Jedi alt was, and they were pleading that they had to speak with him.

My Jedi had "wanderlust" and hit the "big city" of Dee'ja Peak. His brother had the compulsion to hit the country, becoming a Scout/Ranger. The father of both knew they had to follow their destiny, as their fate dictated. And their mother was Force Sensitive, her father (my Jedi's grandfather) being a Jedi before the dark times (a hidden family secret).

I'll cancel the accounts before the free month is up, but man - making an old wrinkled version of my human was a blast! And I felt so much better establishing an RP family (I RP all the time on Starsider) that WASN'T one of the countless families who'd abandoned their children or all died in some Imperial/Rebel/mysterious attack or accident.

In fact, maybe I'll just keep 'em around for fun....hahaha.

Though I think I've finally gone off the deep end, talking to myself on different characters. Makes for good roleplaying, though.

Funny Side note:

When going shopping, I pay extra attention to vendors. You can tell who has a good vid card with settings jacked up, and who doesnt lol.

I cannot tell you how many female human/twi vendors i've seen that have nice figures, dressed up in leotards or whatever, however, they were were likr 95 years old lol.

I guess my video card isnt good enough. i have a geforce fx5200 128mb, it really is time to move up to a 256mb one od these days............

I'm kinda glad my video card isn't that great...my in game husband has his age bar bumped to max, mine is down to baby-face. But since I only have a 64mb graphics' card, he looks just like me I don't have to feel weird for being married to an old man.

ok to see if your vid card can do "shader" open launch pad... dont sign in. click on game options, go to the graphic tab....its the Vertex/Pixel Shader Version. it is probible set at dissabled now, to see if you can use it get the pul down list if verstions of shading that can run on your card. slect 1 and ok the higher the version the more lag you get. most of the time keep it dissabled for less lag but try it out to see more detail and wrinkles.
