ok to see if your vid card can do "shader" open launch pad... dont sign in. click on game options, go to the graphic tab....its the Vertex/Pixel Shader Version. it is probible set at dissabled now, to see if you can use it get the pul down list if verstions of shading that can run on your card. slect 1 and ok the higher the version the more lag you get. most of the time keep it dissabled for less lag but try it out to see more detail and wrinkles.
mine's set at optimal but i dont think i'm pretty sure anyway i dont notice any different facial stuff at all.....

I'm kinda glad my video card isn't that great...my in game husband has his age bar bumped to max, mine is down to baby-face. But since I only have a 64mb graphics' card, he looks just like meI don't have to feel weird for being married to an old man.
Meanwhile, everyone who has a good graphics card is going: "Dang, he must be rich!"

Having a good vid card is creepy too though. You go into malls and shops and you can see how old and wrinkled most of the vendors really are. It's disturbing to see a Twi'lek in revealing bikini and skirt and she's a wrinkle-faced hag. And some players too. You get up close to them and they are prunes. I don't think they can see that they either bumped up the Age slider in creation or maybe there was an ID "accident."
you know how badly I freaked out the first time I saw my main vendor after I got a better video card?

Now I'm nervous...I just got a new vid card, but I don't know if it's good enough to show that much detail (GeForce 6200 256 mb). I haven't put it in my computer yet.I hope my vendor isn't a hag dressed in a slinky outfit...or worse, that I'm a hag!

Yes, the vendors are the worst, because I would say at least 1/2 of the time or more the vendor is wrinkly. Most characters do not play with the age bar. In fact, when you do "random all" in char creation, the age bar is the one attribute that never changes (I think SOE wants those with bad vid cards not to look like hags without their knowledge).
I was helping a friend create his vehicle lot and it was so much fun, because we wanted the vendors to be sleazy car salesmen type. So instead of saying "oh, gah, horrid," it was "score! A combover!" I dressed them in the worst clothing possible, including pants that show off their ankles.
Vendor 1 has a bad combover. He is dressed like a sleazy car dealer, complete with bad low cut pink shirt, medallion, tan sport coat, highwater pants, and casual shoes.
Vendor 2 has a receding hairline. He is the bike dealer so he's dressed in jeans. He looks cool.... sorta.
Vendor 3 has a puffy hairdo that looks like a bad toupee (It's the side parted one toward the end that's kinda... big.) He is wearing the "high school principal" look, in a bad gray suit that, of course, has pants that are way too short.
Except the bike guy, they are all pretty pudgy. I love making ugly vendors on purpose.

i have the BFG 5500 OC, just got it last month and it can do shading 1.1, 1.2, 2.0. 1.1 is low quality wrinkles but less lag. 1.2 medium. 2.0 wow look at the quality its almost real, but 2.0 gives me lag lag and lag. i do dissable it most of the time so i gat 20-30 fps, with 1.1 on i get 10-20 fps. 2.0 an laggy 8-9 fps.

I did some experimenting on a friends set of machines(he's one of those dirty buggers with rich parents, so he can indulge his technophilia at will, unlike me, being a poor student sucks
). They all run on 2 gigs of PC3200, CL 2.0 RAM, AMD 3800+ 64bit processors, but the graphics cards differ. On one he's still running a Ti4400 while he waits for the replacement, and that showed no wrinkles at all. The second box runs a single 6600GT, and although that showed the wrinkles, running the shaders slowed the game down to a crawl. The third box is running the GD1, a dual-core SLI card with a pair of 6600GT cores in there, and this actually provided better performance with shaders than the fourth box, running a single 6800 Ultra. SLI seems to help with rendering those sorts of details apparently, so if you want to see wrinkles on a budget, go for the GD1. It comes in a package with a nice nForce chipset SLI motherboard and it's pretty cheap, especially if you live in Europe but order from a US store.
