Thread: Poll: Should 8.1 be Stopped, scrapped and they try again we they are ready to do it right?
Coming from the Smuggler Community I can tell you this:
Your voices will be heard, but only as loud as your Correspondant speaks out against it.
Apart from the annoying nature of the timer, I'm lovin' it. I wouldn't mind if they wait until later next week to push it out to get rid of all the bugs, but I love:
the new palettes
the stat migration bit
the fact that we get colours that aren't available at char creation
the new UI
And holo-emotes ain't gonna kill me. They're holograms, after all. Party on.

I really *want* the new interface and the new colors. You do realize that if we scream for them to scap this we will have absolutely *nothing* new, no hope of anything new for at least 6 months and absolutely no right to complain about no new features or no bug fixes. I don't like the stat migration part and I hope that they reconsidern it. I can ignore the holo-emotes, but they actually put in a lot of work into this publish and there are a lot of good things in it!
We don't want to be the equivalent of those customers who you do an image design job on and they shout out "this sux, NEXT!". I know that kind of attitude doesn't make me want to do anything else for that person, and basically telling the devs that they did a really horrible job and to come back when they can do it right is the same thing. Anyway, we would do much better to concentrate on fixing the bugs and gettng them to reconsider the stat migration part.
If they can get the bugs worked out I vote keep it. I want the new colors, UI, ability to change things that were "missed" at release, etc. While they are at it, remove the timer for master id too please =)

Anything is not better than nothing. It's that sort of thinking that will keep us from getting what we really, truly want, instead of what's handed to us. If we want to get those things we have expressed interest in since forever we need to be willing to fight for them. Not roll over and hope that they'll show us more love—not going to happen. Just look at the development schedule. This is it. If we accept it as-is we have to live with it for at least 6 months. I for one am not willing to do that.

There is a very big difference between a "this sux, NEXT!" customer and this situation. The difference is in communication. That customer has the opportunity to convey to you what s/he wants. We were given no such opportunity. For that reason, if no other, I say let's wait 6 months and have the chance to get it done right, with our input. I can live with what bugs we have for that long if it means getting what we want, instead of what we're given. Either way we'll have to wait that long to see any additional changes, the question is is it worth getting these horrific "riders" to what few changes we do want in this publish? I say it's not worth it. Stat migration is terrible. Leveling is next to impossible. Holo-emotes are a dose of tack in a profession that's about good taste and aesthetics.
In short, the new UI and new colors are nice—but they're not nice enough for me to turn the other cheek and accept the insults inherent to this publish.
Edit: I suppose I should say if they scrapped the stat migration, changed the XP so that it was possible for someone to master in under 6 months, and got rid of holo-emotes I wouldn't have a problem with this publish—but as it stands I'm 100% against it.
