Thread: Poll: Should 8.1 be Stopped, scrapped and they try again we they are ready to do it right?
Looking at the delays for this publish, the push-back of the smuggler revamp, JustG's flat-out admission that they withheld information for fear of feedback…I don't think I'm unjustified in my felings that if we do accept this it will be as it stands for 6 months. You're right, I'm incredibly upset, and until I have reason to feel otherwise about the issue of communication I will continue to be. From where I sit it's clear that the devs knowingly and willfully went ahead with changes that they knew we, and the rest of their constituency, wouldn't like. That's unacceptable and the message I'm attempting to convey is exactly that—without communicating with the community and taking into account what the players want to see from a game any change they make will be meaningless. I will not accept a compromise on this issue, and to my mind, with good reason. I will not in any way take a position that supports this sort of disregard for the community. It's as simple as that.

There is a very big difference between a "this sux, NEXT!" customer and this situation. The difference is in communication. That customer has the opportunity to convey to you what s/he wants. We were given no such opportunity. For that reason, if no other, I say let's wait 6 months and have the chance to get it done right, with our input. I can live with what bugs we have for that long if it means getting what we want, instead of what we're given. Either way we'll have to wait that long to see any additional changes, the question is is it worth getting these horrific "riders" to what few changes we do want in this publish? I say it's not worth it. Stat migration is terrible. Leveling is next to impossible. Holo-emotes are a dose of tack in a profession that's about good taste and aesthetics.
In short, the new UI and new colors are nice—but they're not nice enough for me to turn the other cheek and accept the insults inherent to this publish.
Edit: I suppose I should say if they scrapped the stat migration, changed the XP so that it was possible for someone to master in under 6 months, and got rid of holo-emotes I wouldn't have a problem with this publish—but as it stands I'm 100% against it.

You have been really upset about the lack of communication since before the publish was actually revealed, and I agree with you! We need more commincation! You seem to think that our choices are either to take this publish now and we will never get any changes again, or wait and get what we really wanted. The fact is that we still may get what we really wanted, but telling the people working on it that their effort was worthless is not going to help that happen. As it is now, stat migration could change (and probably will after enough complaints) so that the old way of doing it is still possible. They already stated that the timers are going to be played around with so that the delays would be reasonable. Maybe they will remove the holo-emotes and maybe they won't, but except for maybe the first week or so, these are something that you are likely to never see! So why not spend our effort getting the new system fixed up so that it is acceptable and work on getting more communcation in the future for the changes we want! They tried an experiment with a new system of adding content and did not follow the regular proceedures. The experiment was obviously a failure and hopefully they learned their lesson for the next time.

Your anger is completely justifiable! Communication in this game has been a problem since the beginning and every time they "fix" it, it quickly goes back to the same mess it was in he beginning. I also don't appreciate the fact that decisions are made ahead of time "from on high" and then they come to us acting like they want our feedback. Decay on death and stat migration are two good examples of this. That said, image designers are the smallest community in the game. We are not a group that is likely to make the developers stand up and notice by us screaming. To be honest, they would get more bang for the buck of they never paid a single bit of attention to us and concentrated only on keeping all the combat people happy. Despite this, Kwee managed to do the impossible and get us a revamp! I'm pretty sure she didn't do this by screaming and making demands.
Anyway, its sad that my 1000th post end up being about something like this. ![]()
I have a few complaints here and there, but nothing that doesn't seem like it could be hotfixed. The numbers on the sliders, for instance. My only real gripe is that I was looking forward to sparkles, not holo emotes. I think those are silly and would have been better as a droid module. You know, like a little holo merchant that yells about his shop, or a holo back-up dancer. I would also be happier if I wasn't required to sit in an ID tent all day. Usually I like to sit and talk with the entertainers while waiting for work. A make-over kit could make another nifty droid module *wink wink*. As for the stat changing ability, I personally like that. Once holo-grinding vanishes, I don't think this will be a headache, and it's a service that I know I feel justified in charging money for (no more 10 credit tips for me, nosiree). All in all, I don't think this is a slap in the face, I just think it needs a little tinkering.

I do not think they should scrap it. There *are* a lot of goods things here, and throwing out the baby with the bath water just doesn't seem prudent ![]()
What I like...
- New UI
- Secure Payment .. Oh... My... GOD!
- Crazy colors for hair
- New makeup colors
- All our lost abilities possibile (male freckles, etc.)
- No more instant masters
Balance that with what I don't like...
- Awful long waits to do a change on anyone for anything. This should work more like doctors
- UI is great except it is so big you are essentially "trapped" in it if there is a long timer
- Holoemotes seem a bit over the top, but what the heck I don't have to use them if I don't like them
- Stat Migration
- Takes too long to master now, this has gone from the easiest to the hardest master
- No fix to default hair color bug on Human/Zabrak/etc. hair when color/style changed ![]()
On the whole I can live with that balance, and I am hoping that some of thedon't likes will get a tweak/fix before it goes live.
