Thread: We have been very cold
To tell the truthwe haven't been the friendliest Image designers here. I know that I have gotten my dander up because people come in with inappropriate or purposly flaming remarks.
Still maybe we could all put that aside and treat them how we would like to be treated instead of going against ourselves and talk trash back.
I for one do apologise for not being as helpful to all newbie ID's whether they are holocronners or what.
If you treat me well, then be assured I will treat you just as well.
That is only my humble opinion not necessarily that of others.

The macroing issue and afk issue is spreading to other forums and other professions, just not the entertainer forums, where it haslong been a topic of "disagreement" and discussion. Look for the problem to continue to get worse until our overwhelmed swamped developers fully understand how devastating it has become. Untill the developers stop it, no amount of discussion will create much impact.
Meanwhile, dont expect us all to offer "helpful hints" to the ones seeking such advise and dont expect us to condone or even agree that such activity is a positive for the overall health of the game. With that said, we shouldnt probably react so intensely when the do "wander in" because its becoming so wide spread that other professions are starting to fully understand the problem and when CH's and other professions start complaining it far louder than what we can muster.
And until the macroing issues and afk issues are resolved, and all the other serious problems that now exist with ebay sellers and duping ,,this game will continue to slide downhill,,,and once it reaches a certain point no amount of "developer influence" will be able to regenerate interest,,,look to AC2 for such a downhill slide.
So unless they act quickly, it really doesnt matter,,interest is dropping already in this game,, and if there was any new competition ,,it would only be worse.
Don't get me wrong on this one. When a holo-grinder comes in and tells how much our profession sucks, then asks for help, sitting him down, giving him some cookies and slowly explaining how ID works is far from my mind. But I don't think we need to be as harsh as some of us (myself included) have been.
Excepet Lady China, of course. I can't help but enjoy some of the things she says when she gets angry. ![]()
I don't hate all image designers, just the holocronners who whine and plead for information on how to grind through our profession. It's insulting to one like me who took her time exploring the profession, and taken it to levels most designers have not in the terms of art, patience, and satisfaction.
I am tired of repairing people on my server who come up to me and say, "Please China help me, I let this grinder work on me and he changed my face! Please put it back the way I had it!" A tall order given by many I have never seen but they heard of me via reputation. So I patiently help said people for hours until they are satisfied with thier look. Most of the time, for free as I pity them.
The holocronners are masters without mastery. Any fool can grind out a profession, it takes talent to actually be good at it. So pardon me if I get bitter at the holocronners who see the profession I love so much as a bore and a burdeon. Very few of them actually realize they like teh profession, and when they do they grinded half way to master without ever enjoying the profession from the beginning. So what would have made an exceptional designer became a third rate barber with a diploma.
Find me a holocronner that will actually take thier time with image design, at least 2-3 weeks, and maybe I will have a shred of respect for one.. . Until then it will be a cold day in Hell that I offer them my support in grinding out Image Design. If you want to encourage them with macros, go right ahead. You only contribute to the AFK hate all of us entertainers get in the first place. Im sick of it...
Many of you have been very cold, and some downright mean.
I started a 2nd charactor just last week just to be an Image Designer. I spend a little time everyday ID'ing the folks that live in my city (Falcon Crest, Corellia, Gorath). When that well dries up, I grind out some xp on my primary charactor. Yes, I said it! I grind out xp! BTW - no holo here... I give them away to my guildmates and friends.
Why do I grind xp? Because you don't have access to the styles people want at the lower levels. It is frustrating and imbarassing to have to tell folks, "sorry, I can't do that yet" over and over.
**edit** Tukk - aspiring ID and medic - Falcon Crest, Corellia, Gorath
and
Apperantly "N i p" is ok for a charactor name, butthe overly sensitive "political correctness" filter on the forums thinksit's racist... incredable.
My charactors name is "N i p Tukk"- it's a play on the title of a TV show about plasic surgeons in Miami...
Try being a Master ID who is ....err semi well known and then starting over....my god first day i got back I had tons and tons of emails and I had to reply to them all "Sorry I cant do that yet....now"

I'm a bit ashamed to admit it, but whenever Lady China or FishWan get riled up I grab some popcorn and get ready for a great show. ![]()
I hate afking. I hate macro grinding. Am I not allowed to enjoy some roasting of the people who engage in it? -giggle-

LOL Fishwan's posts always make me think. I love reading hers.
As for the roasting of people who macro grind... well, it depends on WHY they're doing it, in my opinion. Here's what I think.
It is acceptable to macro grind IF:
1. You havebeen anID before, you already know how the profession works, and you just need to level. (i.e. rerolling your character, getting a second account, making a character on another server)
2. You are mastering image design for holocron purposes and your only intention is to get through it, master it, and drop it immediately. (I know some of you may disagree with me on this, but honestly, but do they need to take their time and understand the profession if they're not planning to use it?)
It is NOT okay to macro grind IF:
1. You are new to the profession and only want to use the macro because it's the easy way out. (This is especially irritating if you master ID and THEN come crying to us about bugs and exploits we've known about for months.)
2. You come to the boards looking for an "easy way out" because your holocron told you to master our "gay profession" and you think that we all suck because we're doing something as lame as image design.
We are the underdogs of the SWG professions... one of them, anyway. We're few in number but very passionate about what we do. I would like to maintain the integrity of our profession, and I deserve to be treated with respect. The fact is, this just isn't some people's cup of tea. I'm sure all of us here have tried our hand at a profession we didn't like. For me, it was tailor, because I hate crafting. However, people are going to be mastering ID against their wishes because they want to be a Jedi. It's how they handle it that determines their character in my eyes. AndI will not roll over and take it when these trolling little twerps invade our territory, tell us how stupid we are, and then ask us for help. By the same token, I do not like seeing some of our regular posters being rude to people who didn't deserve it.
(and just so we dont leave anything to doubt, its just that it was nice to see such an encouraging thread
)
