Do you think Novice Image Designers should charge for stat migration?

I am a Novice ID and my stated prices are

hair change - free

body change - 1000

Stat Migration 5000

Is this fair or do you think I should not be asking for any money at all?

BTW I often give someone a free Stat Migration anyway

yes you should be charging at least 10K. it's ten minutes you won't get back CHARGE it.. I've jacked my prices up to 15K because there is no ID'ers around anymore. I could get away with 50 if I was greedy

Hmm, the last time I asked if anyone wanted stats migrating for 7K on planet chat, someone complained and told me I shouldn't be charging for it because I need the xp

The reply: I can get XP in any number of ways. There's only one way you're getting your migration: in the immortal words of Juju, cash on the barrel head.

If anyone thinks your skills are not good enough to merit payment they're always welcome to find another stat migrator. You have somethign in which they need or want. This nessesaty facilitates a demand which inturn reflects a value which in my case is now 15K. I'll probably jump to 20 or even 25 because I know I have a captive audience and there isn't any competition. Remember supply and demand. That 10 minutes is ten minutes I could be digging for Rori fiberplast... (I keep botching this crafting quest)

It is true now that I unlocked forcesensitivity that I *do* require XP, but I could be earning other XP if I wasn't trapped in the ID tent moving someone elses stat sliders. To me I basically lay down any price I feel like entering in because I know they have no other alternative than to pay. I've been to all the tents and I've only seen 3 other ID's int he galaxy withthier tags up. One was in Korvella waiting for a ship, the other was LD and the last one was on dantooine heading to presumably the warren or pois.

Ten minutes is a long time to sit and consider why you became an ID in the first place.. that time spent in silence or berating men in skirts is worth AT LEAST 10K. 1K/min.

If the client doesn't have the funds I usually take something in form of payment. Vehicles, deeds, guns armor loot pets, craftables. failing that I tell them where the mission terminal is and then get them to send me a tell if they can't find anyone else when they're ready.

I don't understand why people can be soo broke that they can't raise 10K. Thats 12 newbie missions be it kill, destroy, or survey.

When I was without credits I was on my best behavior, always polite, and I took up artisan and I did survey missions the rinse lather and repeat to make stupid credits for repetition work Get the metal survey, go tot he predetermined waypoint collect he money and get more metal messions... I then Baught crappy wind generators then sold power when I gathered enough... this then lead in survey mission to support the maintenance funds for other harvesters until I had enough resources to grind up artisan and begin to buffer millions of credits when I could replace my infatructure with better and better equipment. Oce you have stupid resources available you can pawn ladspeeders on the bazzar got 6K instant sale and they go really really fast sales because they're 40% off cheap prices. at that cost you don't have to worry about duribility.

well thats getting off topic, but I've issued U-O me's to people and about 30% have actually come back and repayed thier debt.. thats why I collect a valueable asset from them now.. Usually they tend to make a huge crying spoiled 2yr scene that a passwer by will pay for them. There is no shortage of credits in the game.

10 minutes is too much time to not charge.

All--

Hehehe....here we are at the pricing debate again, eh? Well, you all know that I first started out with freebies (that was dumb)...but I learned real quick that setting a strict pricing guideline isn't the best method either....because that's probably all you will ever get, except from guildies and good friends. And, let's face it...we Image Designers have lots of friends, but still...how many times are your dancer and musician friends going to need stats migrated, right?

Anyways...I use a tipping macro which INCLUDES a suggested price. I am actually considering raising my suggested price because, for some reason, 90 percent of the image designers on my server have disappeared or are never around. So,considering I love this profession and won't drop it (even for FS/Jedi), I might squeeze my clients a little tighter, but I'm still going to use a tipping scheme. Here is my macro:

The average fee for a stat migration is $10,000 credits. However, you may raise or lower this fee as your budget permits. Payments above average are deeply appreciated, and allow me to assist new players by providing them a discount. If you are broke or a new player, your migration is free.

And this has worked very well for me to this point....so, I keep it.

However, I may add that line to my bio that, um....someone...mentioned up above (I hate that SOE hasn't set these forums to give you the entire thread history when you're writing a message....darnit!)

Love y'all,

Dan

I only have a set fee for stat migrations (since it takes 10 minutes, I charge 10k or 1k per minute), all other changes are whatever the customer thinks they are worth. When the last of my characters to make MID were grinding, if someone took at least 9 minutes chosing a new look, I developed the custom of throwing in a stat migration free (since it took so long to get the look just right, I figured I might as well go for the higher xp).

I did try at one point to allow people to set their own price on stat migrations also, but since most paid little or nothing, gave that up as not worth it. It has been my experience that while people may pay anywhere from nothing to 100k for real ID work, if I didn't set a fee on stat migrations, the most any would pay for those was 1k... which is not worth it to me since stat migrations take the full 10 minutes whether you are a novice or a master and a stat migration given by a novice is just as good as one given by a master.

I charge 10k for a stat migration. I used to haggle, let the customer set the price then I realised that everytime I did this I undercut the rest of the IDs on the server. So now it's 10k non-negotiable. I set the price in the payment needed slot and walk away if they refuse to pay or try to haggle.

And it is exactly that kind of attitude that has made all of the service/entertainer professions completely unviable.

10 minutes is a good long time. 10k is the least I would charge Don't listen to people who say you are getting experience or not using resources. They are paying for your time, and in the case of your cosmetic/body services, for your creative expertise

I to started with with prices when I was novice.

And after one to many gripers about my prices... I said what the heck Went to a no set fee policy on IDing players...

Heres how I have it setup.. I start ID give the all HoloEmote on all ID's unless customer tells me they want one exact holoEmote.. Then work on whatever else customer askes for. Make sure they got everything they wanted done. About a mintue to go in ID or when they ask for prices... I have a macro ready for them..

/g I have no set fees. All I ask of my customer is that they pay whatever they feel is fair for my services..

Placed that on the Shift - F9 Slot...

Some customers find it an odd ideal of them setting the price... But most enjoy the ideal. Some insiste I set them a fee So I do.. If it a stat migration I go with the standard 10k - 15k that my server has.

How do I handle the cheapasses.. Simple. I never refuse to ID a player once. Once.. Any non tippers that arn't noobs, Entertainers, freinds, or Guildmates. Find themselfs on my fan list.. Err ignore list. Solves the problem of dealing with a bad customer in the future Works like a charm

As a back up I have places this in my BIO info..

"If you feel my ID service is worth nothing to you. Then that's the service you will get from me in the future. Have a nice day.. " A warnning to someone don't be cheap or you'll get nothing else from me..

Also a final note.. I Averaged about 30k - 50k on a set fee service.. per-night

After I drop the set fees I jumped to 100k - 150k anight.. Try it one night see if it works for you. I don't think you'll go back to set fees after. I am alot less stressed now to..

I have a set rate on stat migrations, for the same reasons as have already been listed.

10k for 10 minutes = 1k per minute

it IS a service, if it was not something worth being paid for doing, it would be a general option for everyone to do themselves.

No we don't have to make buff packs but we do have to sit there for 10 solid minutes and do nothing else while their stats are passed over.

For me.

Everything else is a tip charge, hair and eyes all of it, a tip.. I only charge for stat migrations and will tell the customer while I am doing their stats any other changes made are free of charge ( as well as give them holo's)
