When I first logged into the game with this avatar, an alt for my main, I strode up to a Master ID and spend about 90 with her, getting myself looking exactly like I wanted. She was a joy to be with, didn't mind taking the time, gave me suggestions, and most of the things I chose were master level things. I tipped her 25k, which she said she didn't want, but I had a marvelous time and I know her time was valuable.
To me, since this avatar is me in the game, how she looks is very important to me.
So, a few days after I let a novice to a stat migration for me, I'm sitting with a friend in my home and she goes "Umm...when did your eyes turn red, and what happened to your tatoos?" Having not looked at my face in awhile, I examined myself...Oh My God! That novice had totally screwed up my look! I went back to the master, who remembered me and my look, and she said that all of my facial features were off by quite a bit and she put me back together.
I was talking to some ID friends of mine who, when I told them this story, they laughed at me and said "Yeah, I do that now and again as a joke. It serves you right you didn't make sure he didn't screw you up! If they notice it, I fix it for them for free."
I beg your pardon? First, there is a bug that, even though I'm not wearing my armor when I walk into the shop, I'm wearing it in the ID session, so I CAN'T check. Second, why in the hell would it be considered funny to screw up someone's face? Lastly, even if I had noticed afterwards, all my attributes were Master-only, so the novice COULDN'T have fixed it, even if he wanted too.
There is a serious ethics consideration here, one that impacts my faith in the profession, on the same level that a Doctor putting negative buffs on someone as a joke, which I believe is a bannable offense.
For Sony's part in this, there needs to be another checkbox to the right, next to the ones for Stat migration: Yes and Holoemotes: Yes that says Cosmetic Changes: Yes. Even better, a checkbox on my end that I have to check to allow them to make any changes to my appearance. I could not believe the audacity of these people to do this, as a joke or not.

I can't figure out how to edit my posts, so I have to reply this addition...sorry.
My "friends" who also screwed people up explained that, if someone argued about the price, or stiffed them on the bill, they always messed with their look as punishment. I paid the novice what he asked and did not say a word about it, but regardless, that is bad business.
If someone stiffs you on the tip, you cancel the session and don't migrate their stats. If they ask for it again, you double the price. There are MANY ways for a good business person to take care of themselves and their customers without committing a breach of etiquette and ethics. I will never, EVER go to this Novice again, and have warned all of my friends and acquaintances away from him. ID is a very small community, and reputation carrys a lot of weight, and he's damaged his beyond repair.

Shame on that ID and your "friends" for being yet another reason why IDs are disparaged by a good chunk of the player community.

Nasty, as a defence against it allways go for an ID session wearing and outfit that allows you to see your looks as best as possible ( The includes a bone crest as a twi'lek because by bringing the lekku forward you can check them easier ) - that doesn't mean of course underwear but for example trousers/skirt, T-shirt/semi revealing top of some sort and no hat ( other than the afformentions bone crest ).

Every profession has it's bad eggs, it's just the bad eggs in ID have insidious ways of screwing with players.
And many criticize me for over-reacting...it's just a toon, it's not like he messed up my stats or stole credits. As an RP'r, how I look is critical to my play. Combined with the armor bug, ID's have free reign over my appearance without my knowing it.

Before walking into the tent, I was in a bustier and jeans...but in the /image screen, I was in full comp. It's a bug. I don't want to have to log out and back in just to keep some dirtbag from messing up my appearance as a joke. I want to be able to trust the ID to have some ethics.

That is a terrible thing for an ID to do and is something that I would never have done myself under any circumstances. I too feel that how my character looks is very important. I have always been rather picky in this regard, even in games where one was stuck with whatever look one chose at character creation. There have been other posts with suggestions on fixes for this very thing and I hope something is done about it. IDs like the one that messed up your look give the community a bad name.

I'm sorry that happened to you
ID's that do that don't realize that they are scaring many people away from using our services. The majority of ID's I have met on my server are polite and kind and I hope these are the caliber of ID's you encounter in the future.

That is horrible. You won't find any ID's here who recommend this practice, because it's a detriment to those who love the profession and enjoy using their skills to help other players look great. On behalf of the ID profession, I apologize, and should you ever decide to try out Tarquinas, I'll be glad to hook you up with a free makeover, just to help prove to you that there are other honorable ID's out there. I'm just grateful you have a regular ID you go to who could fix you. God, I hate reading stuff like this.

I love my ID's, as much as I love my Tailors...both because how I look is important, and because I could NEVER grind through those things for myself. I pay them lavishly for their services, woo them with all my heart, and have sat for hours on end helping more than one grind up their skills while we chatted
However, when I need just a stat migration, I hate bothering the Masters and know the Novices need the exps and money, so I'm quick to just step in and pay who's there. No one who has made it to Master would ever do such a thing, but my faith in any ID who I do not know personally was affected by this. If the game system supported better protections for it, it would not be possible, but I'll have to admit that the absolute last place I thought to find a griefer was in the entertainer professions.
I mean no disrespect to the legitimate ID's who are here, and I repeat that I adore the profession most effusively. My post here was to draw the ID Correspondant's attention in hopes that they can take my concern to Sony and add the small features I've asked for to provide a check and balance between ID and customer to prevent this from happening in the future.

(one of the IDs who talked to Magdallenna about this)
I confess i did that twice, sadly enough, only when people agree on my pricing but refuse to enter anything in the "amount to pay" box.
Early in the migration process i cancel the session, after the timer hits2 minutes to go however, cancelling the session would make the stiffer victorious in making me lose precious time,I can be obstinate when it comes to that...when those 2 situations took place i looked at the hairstyle and colour i told them i will finish the migration but thatI would change their hair, only to be fixed by a nearby novice entertainer to gether some exp or by me for the price we both agreed on.
I don'ttake that actionto punish the client at all,I keep my part of the trade and would like my clients to do the same. Both times they agreed. The first time i had to apply this tactic the client instantly asked to get rid of his brand newelvis hairdo andpaid the agreed sumand leftimmediately, the second one examined his spicefiend hairstyle for a secondand actually said: "doesnt matter wut u changed me to i never take off this comp helmetneway" to which he added: "thx for the free migrateu (insertname for female canine here)" and left.
I hate having to resort to this tactic but i warn those affected, luckily these encounters of the awkward kind are rare...
The action of the novice who changed youduring a perfectconditionmigratinghowever was inexcusable in my opinion, but maybe he/she just forgot what your original settings were and was afraid toask...i know i said i sometimes change people's looks for a joke but that only happensbetween friends and guildmembers(/flashbackwholeguild pink skintone, scalecolour or fur;/snicker).

Aweful beyond words, and a complete breach of trust. I play a novice ID on Valcyn, and find it to be some of the most relaxing time spent in the game, just chatting, and playing with hairstyles and the like. I really enjoy helping people to get more of their own enjoyment out of their play experience. Disfiguring someone intentionally, for whatever reason, is inexcusable. There is NO justifiable cause. I always ask before performing any mods to appearance. Some are reluctant, but decide to take a look once they understand we are stuck waiting 10 min anyway. I sure hope the ones adamant against looking into some new styles are not folks that are embittered by past ID experiences. But try to remember that the vast majority of the ID profession are there to help, and are by and large a really great group of people. Don't let one or two bad apples ruin your next trip to the tents =).

not to excuse the b*st*rd or play devils advocate, but the thought of defacing a compoclone who comes to me for a statmig without even considering putting his helmet off is... tempting. Good manners, respect and civility must be two-way.
Yet with great power comes great responsibility, and who wields more power than us MID, for whom players' egosare just mud to be shaped or squashed
(pinky on lip) Bwahahahahaha !
