Thread: 50k for stat migrations?

is this a normal price?

I've been gone a while, so bare with my ignorance here... but, as a 1,0,0,0 BH that's nearly 4 hours of work or more (depending on the bounty) for a 10 minute fix that I use to be able to do over a day or two.???

couldn't they find something else for the ID's to do besides this along with the hairstyles and things... why not make an athletic trainer give free boosts to health or action pools during combat or something...

Well I'd say 50k is steep for a migration.....but it depends on if you asked a master or not (they tend to have higher rates since they don't need the xp and generally hate doing migrations) and if you were polite when you asked. Prices tend to raise exponentially to folks who are rude in the ID tent A standard rate for a stat migration is generally from 10-20k or so from my experience. You might try contacting some of the ID's in the server list stickied above, or ask on the planet channel on your server if anyone is available. Also try a search in Coronet and Theed, that is where you can most often find ID's in the salons.

As to why we were given the ability to do migrations in the first place....we really didn't have much control over the matter. Many ID's wish that they didn't have to deal with them at all. I personally think that it is good that we have a necessarymarketable skill, but that perhaps we shouldn't be the only outlet for something that is essential to so many people. Anyway, this has been talked to death here many times over lol. I am sorry you feel frustrated with the situation, and please know that you are not alone in your frustration

Good luck !!

On my server, I can't even get away with charging 20k, which is why I don't do them.

As a master, I don't need the xp, and novices do -- but apparently there are no novices on scylla anymore, and 10 mins is just too much of my playtime to spend doing nothing but look at a big interface these days.

But despite the lack of novices coming through, I can't charge what I would call a fair price.

Ylis, I'm on Scylla, and I charge 20k, but yeah, it's hard to ask for it sometimes. People pay or they walk. Generally though they pay. I've been hanging out in the tents lately, and I've never seen anyone charging less.

I know it's a hassle to have every customer say "bla bla 20k bla bla gripe" but you have to grit your teeth and be firm with them, and give them the boot if they don't have the money. My favorite trick is to say "well come back when you do have the money" or to simply stop responding to them and start playing my mando again in the tent.

Please send me a tell/e-mail in-game if you want to get together The tent is always more fun when you have people to chat with between customers.

Love the guild name! Seen y'all around and think it's just great.

I know one soon-to be novice ID on scylla and have seenwhat I beleive to be afew others.

More than likely you ran into someone who really did not want to perform one but, 50k is not "normal" on Scylla. 20k seems to be pretty standard for masters. Especially if you are not getting xp for it, staring at a blank screen for 10 mins may take a lot of compensation.

Imight suggest stowing the comp armor suits and expensive weapons when asking. It can be hard to be sympathetic in pricing when the customer is covered in what is likely 200k in gear or more.I have actually shut up those complaining about my price by offereing to take their armor boots as a barter trade.

BTW,I am not hating on combat classeshere, my Scylla toon is a BH too

It's strange... on the one hand they complain about IDs being so hard to find, but when they finally found one, they are not willing to pay a price that is as much guided by the rules of comerce (supply and demand) as are the prices for lets say their beloved Comp armor they are trying to squeeze in.

I don't think 20k is way too much... maybe not cheap, but intimes many are asking for a migration at once it's a case of higher demand with lower supply and thus higher prices... But if they don't want to pay that much it's up to you to eigher adjust your price a bit downwards or to the customer to accept it or move along. as long as everyone stays respectfull there is nothing wrong with all this at all.

Regrettfully staying respectfull is not what many players have in mind, when they don't get what they want to the price they want....

Well, I tried

Tonight there really were not a lot of ID's about and I was getting a lot of tells about stat migrations, so I decided to venture back into the tent and help this guy out.

And what happened when I told him it was 20k ?

"um no. I'm not paying that"

/shrug

He also had a master combat profession tag up

/sigh

And thats just funny.....he can make 30k in about 3 minutes....so basically he was saying that 3 minutes of his time is worth far more than 10 minutes of yours.

I hope you stood firm and didn't migrate him....I will let rates slide for obvious newbs or people who dont have a way to earn good income (i.e. main prof entertainers ), but theres no reason that someone who is obviously well off and able to earn a good living should attempt to deprive us of our professions only guaranteed income.

People will pay for weird things.

The guy who said "no thanks" to a 20k stat migration then proceeded to buy at least 20k of clothing from me. Maybe fashion > function.

Is there more to life than being really really really really ridiculously good-looking?

You are a tailor posting on the ID forum...of course fashion>function. Besides,I can buy a really good composite bicep for 10k that will far outperform a nightsister one but, how much will that cost me?

Hmph. He goes to the tent hoping to findthe rare and elusiveID creature, or sends a tell begging one to come to a tent... then refuses to pay the asking price? I'd look him in the eye and say, "Fine then. Time is money. Buh-bye." /wave *looks at next person in line* "Next please! Thank you."

Seriously, make him go to the end of the line, if there is one. Or walk out of the tent and go back to what you were doing before Mr. Cheap "asked" you to come there.
