Thread: 50k for stat migrations?
The worst part is when they're shouting this I can hear them from the tent - but they're not looking in the tent! So I figure that anyone that stupid is likely to be a problem customer anyway and I don't shout back
This is what I do too. Tell them the price before I ever meet them at the tent. Stat migrations are the only thing I have a set fee for too.

I am a firm believer in 20k for a stat migration. Whenever I get the "Can you migrate my stats please?" tells, I always answer "Sure can. The fee for a stat migration is 20k". This way, we can argue it out prior to me stopping what I am currently doing, and come to their aid. If they don't like it, tough noogies. If they get annoying or rude about it, I have a healthy ignore list, that I am more than willing to make larger. I am more than willing to work for tips for anything else, but 10 mins of just staring at a screen, I had darn well better get paid, and paid well!

I'm not paying that"/shrugHe also had a master combat profession tag up/sighAnd thats just funny.....he can make 30k in about 3 minutes....so basically he was saying that 3 minutes of his time is worth far more than 10 minutes of yours.
I hope you stood firm and didn't migrate him....I will let rates slide for obvious newbs or people who dont have a way to earn good income (i.e. main prof entertainers
), but theres no reason that someone who is obviously well off and able to earn a good living should attempt to deprive us of our professions only guaranteed income.
That's what I was going to say. *grin* I can make 30k in about 5 min as a Master Fencer doing solo grouping on Dantooine. Counting travel time and expenses, I can pull down about 200k in a buff cycle. I'll pay out 12-15k for buffs, bought all the armor. Of *course* I'll pay 20-50k for a migration. It's only a one time thing, unlike the buffs, armor and weapons.
I'm grinding back to MID; I miss it a lot. Fencing is a blast, but I'd rather by running around to parties and events giving makeovers.

I am on another server...Bloodfin, but i do stat migrates as well as all other ID services on a "tip" basis. I have to admit that on occasion I do run across people who tip me less than 10k (what I believe is the going rate for migrates on my server), I have been tipped up to 200k. I did test this and for a day asked for 10k, which everyone had due to the fact that I was IDing in Theed and most often times got paid exactly that or just above it (12-15k).Now, I have no idea why I am so lucky with letting people tip me what they think is fair for I do know quite a few ID's on my server who are broke. I just think that doing things this way gives me a far better sense of what kind of ppl I am dealing with especially since i have other accts in service professions on the same server.
If someone wants me to do any real ID work on them, I tell them to pay me what they think it's worth, but I won't do that with stat migrations for two reasons:
- I hate doing them, so if I do them at all, I better get payed, and payed well.
- I tried giving stat migrations for tips once, and my average pay for them was 500 credits (and no way is that worth my time).
Even so, I have only doubled my price since I made MID (going from 10k to 20k). I figure that is a fair price, and I have (and will in future) given true newbs and pure entertainers a break on the price. I figure that if someone isn't willing to pay 20k for a stat migration from me, they are perfectly free to try to find someone else who will do it for less. It has been my experience that people are more willing to pay (and pay well) for real ID work than for a stat migration. As I told one customer who though that 20k was too much, I'm charging them for the time. If a stat migration isn't worth 20k to them, that's ok, but my time is not worth less.
Now if they reduce the timer, I may drop my price, but no guarentees even then.
