Thread: People are crazy

I don't charge set fees for image designing people, and for the most part people are really great. But I had a guy I Stat Migrated at least 5 times, and he didn't pay 1 credit, or mention anything about paying, even though on more than one instance he was grouped with other customers that asked about payment and were thanked for paying. On top of that he was really demanding and rude, "Stat migrate me again" and shouting at me in caps if I didn't answer immediately. So onthe 5th migration I politely explained to him that would be the the last time I would be Iding him, and why. He says "I'll pay you next time. I say "no you won't, there isn't going to be a next time" he said something like "whatever" and left. I can hear him spamming the cantina for a mind buff, I guess to no avail, because he comes back in the tent and says "Mariska I have a problem, I need a mind buff" I swear to god i almost swallowed my tongue in disbelief! I told him I wouldn't ever buff him or id him, since to my count he at least owed me 25k (usually the minimum people have paid for stat migrations). He then proceeds to tip me 2k..i tip it back. He says "what? that was for a buff?" I told him again that I wouldn't be buffing or id'ing him EVER. He kept whining, so i finally put him on ignore, explaining to him that I have the right to refuse service to him, and I was exercising that right. I still see him hanging around, and he still stands around me, whining I suppose.

I really am a nice person, I don't mind doing free id's for people that truely can't afford to pay....but please at least tell me this, and be polite. You're asking for a favor after all. I have no problem with any tip, yes the cash is great, but being treated with repect, and politeness is even more important to me.

I am sorry for your experience. I can't remember how many times people have just waltzed right into a medical center without a single word for about 3 minutes and then type in all caps "WHY DONT NY BODY HEALZ ME???"

The language is enough to make you sick, but I was trying to craft some while they were complaining about people healing the tumblers.

I treat those with respect who do not enjoy the Star Wars Galaxy via immersion (ie non-combat classes) because they enjoy what they do and why, not what the profit is gonna be. That's why I became a healer; because people get into trouble through negligence/ignorance and its up to me to set 'em back on their feet and say "Good luck out there, and watch yourself this time lol."

That does suck. Unfortunately, I've had to resort to not doing *any* ID work without payment. I'll tell them up front what the charge is and make sure to fill it in the payment area. If they don't want to pay, they don't get the changes.

Most people aren't even aware of the payment area and simply banktip anyway.

I have one hard and fast rule about payment: I don't have set prices, but I don't work for free. You must pay SOMETHING. If there's nothing entered in that box (or banktipped to me), the session does not get accepted.

I long ago acknowledged the fact that we are just as responsible for making sure we get paid as those who seek our services. Always keep the upper hand. After all, THEY need YOU.

It's been my experience that people who want stat migrations are more likely to stiff you than people who want makeovers. Thus my own prices are a set fee of 10k per stat migration and anything else is whatever the customer thinks it's worth.

Of course, the fact that I enjoy doing REAL ID work may also have something to do with the way I set my prices.

Oh yeah. You are so spot on. That is why I charge 50k if I'm in the salon and 100k if I have to stop what I'm doing to travel. If they whine, I tell them "That's the price. Take it or leave it. If you don't want it, stop griping to me. I hate stat migrations.". If they whine again, I just /addingnore the idiot.

Yeah, I know what you mean. Once in a while I get a customer who is very rude. I simply lay down the law and send them an ultimatum if they want something for nothing or just are plain rude. They can either straighten up, or look for another ID on my server for the next couple days.

My fee for the migration is always 50K. If they do not have that kind of credit and are respectful to me and I sense newbie, I will forego my fee. I do however stress the fact that they only get this one freebieor they can give me one IOU - most actually choose the latter.

Before starting a migration with a newcomerI also recommend that theytalk to a master of the professtion they are planning to go for if they are the least unsure of how to set the stats. Most people take that advice and come back later when they are sure. This greatly reduces the people who wants migration upon migration (of course if they're willing to pay me 50K a pop, who am I to argue )

Just my two creds.

That's a great idea. I have a similar pricing structure and have received some nice goods in trade instead of credits. I hadn't though of referring these folks to other masters for recommendations. I usually tell them since I don't do a lot of combat, I'm not sure what would be best. I can tell them how I have mine set, but that's not necessarily the right thing for them.

Someone awhile back said that they charge Newbies the Maroj Melon that everyone starts with... so if someone claims to be a newbie, that's what I do. If they don't have that melon, they can't be all THAT new.
