With the way every other post I read seems to be complaining about doing stat migration, I just wanted to stand up and say I like it the way it is now.
To me the fun of being an Image Designer is the opportunity to socialize and chat with a variety of different people. Stat migration gives me a little ten minute chunk of time to talk to people I would never know otherwise. I often give them a makeover while the timer is running and they go away happy, with added style. That little ten minutes has contributed to their day.
Okay, it's not always like that, but it's surprising how few people are really the miserable, whiney, AFK, clock-watchers that seem to get all the interest here.
People complain about the time it takes. People complain that it forces them to spend time with others rather than allowing them to grind exp in a little cave on their own. I have to say these are not true Image Designers. When you go to have your hair done, is it an enjoyable experience with a chatty stylist who takes you out of yourself for a while or is it a miserable experience with some surly jerk who spends the entire time talking to someone else? If it is the latter then why don't you go somewhere else where they are nicer?
ID can be the most social profession of any. I don't even understand why the solo grinders want to master ID in the first place. What is the point if you aren't interested in using your skills on others?
Sorry if this appears to be a rant but I really just wanted to put the positive side, and I honestly don't understand solo ID's.

The don't believe the problems with MID have ever been with the ID community itself, but frustration with the ease of levelling prior to May 12 and the hologrinders. Personally I thought the best strategy was to assist the grinders and let them leave peacefully and get on with their grind. The other problem is the very small amount of players who don't think they should pay for anything that doesn't assist them in combat. I've only run into 2-3 out of the hundreds of customersj during my stint as an ID and have found most players very happy that they can now get stats changed in 10mins rather than 1 week.
I agree with you and enjoyed the ability to offer a new service to the community. The only complaint I had was the xp/time system.
The problem with the forums is that few people make constructive comments and the only time a new thread is createdis whensomething changes thatthey perceive as a dev screw up. We need more posts like this to get a more balanced view of community opinions.

Excellent post!

I can say that I don't mind the 10 minute time either for the above reasons. I am enjoying chatting with folks and getting to know some new people. However, I really don't care to have to leave my home planet to go do such things. Leave the timer in - fine, but give us the ability to ID in a theater or some type of tent/salon on a world other than the basic worlds.

I don't think I have stated this lately or maybe clearly enough, but it is not the ability to do stat migrations that I have a problem with. It is that it is not an "option"if the old way of do stat migration was still in, and customers would come to us to save a few days waiting for their stats to change it would be great, but now they are forced to see an ID for even the smallest change in very large numbers.
I would have like it to have been done in a fun RP way or at least have given a SW reasoning on how IDer can do them. But that is a much smaller issue. Stat migration could have been a great way to get player to travel to our salons, instead of the tents. I'm really confused on way they decided not to do that
To much dev time neededI guess?
Anyway removing the forced aspect of stat migration and I think we all would be content and happy again.
I hope that clears-up my viewpoint

I don't mind doing stat migrations. I just don't like being the only avenue in which players can do it.

I agree with Sir Voor and Fuschia....I don't have a problem with the actual migration abilities being assaigned to us, the problem I have is how it has directed a lot of hostility towards ID's in general. People have been forced to pay for something that used to be free, and that is technically a nerf...and no one likes it when a nerf is directed at them
Sir Voor's dual migration idea is a solid one....players could migrate quickly with us if they so wished, or if they didn't feel like paying for the service, or didn't feel like finding an ID to do it for them, they could simply wait a week or so and thier stats would migrate gradually like they used to. I think we would still have a good source ofincome from the rich and impatient, but at least we would have an outlet if people didn't wish to utilize our services.
I also have enjoyed migrating some patrons...I have met some very kind individuals who have become friends, and some long-time clients of both ID and tailoring through the service as well. But the truth is, that for every chatty, polite client I have there are 5 more who just go afk immediately after they migrate their stats. It takes 2 to be social you know

Personally I have no problem with either the ability or being the only avenue. Only thing I have a problem with is the general Entertainer "combat" perks aren't self-usable.
Given the attitudes from posters and the rant/harassment, it becomes very obvious to me that the majority of people wouldn't want or even bother to seek out an Image Designer for their changes due to a number of reasons.

I agree completely. The skill isn't bad, but being the only way for people to migrate stats stinks because they think it is OUR fault, and thus act like we are pariahs.

Great threadI'm told often in game that ID's like stat migration, good to see that perspective on the forum as well. The complaints I hearfrom those who do like stat migration as an abilityare:
- the length of the timer when customers are not interested in other ID work or chatting
- travel time to get to a tent for those in player cities or planets without them
- harassment from some players
**Snip**
This is certainly what I dislike about stat migrations. If every customer who came to me for a stat migration would at least chat even if they were not interested in any REAL ID work, I would have no problem with doing stat migrations. Unfortunately, 4 out of 5 just go afk for the duration... and, as Darkesong pointed out, it takes 2 to make a conversation. I've never been any good at taking to walls.

Hehe. Ironically I'm pretty good at talking to a wall. Solves many problems I have. Not so much in a game, although I appear to do that well as well.

Well I see your point there, folks. But on the other side: isn't the armosmith the only one to make armor, isn't the weaponsmith the only one to make weapons? Well you might say: No, the artisan can make some armor and weapons, too!
Well, sure, but they are actually part of the AS/WS.path...
And therein lies the difference. One expects a weaponsmith to make weapons, just as one expects an armorsmith to make armor. One does not expect an Image Designer- someone who is basically paid to make people pretty - to be able to do stat migrations.
Like I said, I don't mind doing the stat migrations, and I've not had any complaints about my prices (maybe that's because I charge less than most ID's on my server), but... that's still not why I mastered ID.
