Thread: I like doing Stat Migration

I don't mind the timer either. I usually charge 20K for the stat migration - sometimes more, sometime less. It really depends on the person in need of the migration.

I don't however statmigrate people who go AFK. I cancel the session right away or if they warn me in advance (without a very good reason), I will inform them that I double my fee. If they accept the increase, be my guest to AFK. If not, well, either be present or, well, I'm sure I can find another customer or something else to do

By doing so, I know that I'm forcing a person to be active, chatting or at least responding in a somewhat coherent pattern and maybe against their willbut that is just me

In saying that, I must say that I usually only havepleasant customers when stat migrating - chatting with me, sharing stories, being respectfull and good spirited. Usually, ID work quickly gets involved as they get curious of "what we can do." I have had composite armour-T-21-wielding-l33ts-people, who think I charge too much. Even within thatclass,I have only had one person cursing at me but a "Please use a civiliced language" turned that one around into an apology.

Great thread I'm told often in game that ID's like stat migration, good to see that perspective on the forum as well. The complaints I hearfrom those who do like stat migration as an abilityare:

  • the length of the timer when customers are not interested in other ID work or chatting

  • travel time to get to a tent for those in player cities or planets without them

  • harassment from some players

What they say they like:

  • good source of business

  • a way to support combat professions

I don't mind doing stat migrations, and I've yet to encounter any hostility towards the new system by any of my clients. In fact, most seem happy to pay for instantly migrated stats. (Well, after a 10 minute wait anyways.) I've also not had much of a problem with people going AFK during the migration. Sure, some do, but if you strike up a conversation at the beginning, most of them stick around and chat with you. And now that it grants 2000 xp,the money isn't the only bonus to doing it..

Well I see your point there, folks. But on the other side: isn't the armosmith the only one to make armor, isn't the weaponsmith the only one to make weapons? Well you might say: No, the artisan can make some armor and weapons, too!
Well, sure, but they are actually part of the AS/WS.path...

And therein lies the difference. One expects a weaponsmith to make weapons, just as one expects an armorsmith to make armor. One does not expect an Image Designer- someone who is basically paid to make people pretty - to be able to do stat migrations.

Like I said, I don't mind doing the stat migrations, and I've not had any complaints about my prices (maybe that's because I charge less than most ID's on my server), but... that's still not why I mastered ID.

I have to confess you are right there. Making someone pretty and changing the stats of someone aren't as closely related as the fact that a weaponsmith makes weapons. But it's not that far away either. As I stated the main reason is of technical nature. I can understand that this leads to some discomfort and questions and it's right to question such thing and let the devs know about that so that they do better in the future. Just the tone of it shouldn't be that disrespectfull as it sometimes used to be here in the last few weeks. (I'm glad so see that it's really better at the moment )

And I agree with you, FuschiaD: Statmigrations are not the reason, why I'm on my way to master ID either! I like to style others (and me too), I like to have a nice chat and to have fun
And ID is much fun for me

It's not the fact that it takes 10 minutes, it's the fact that before the lastfix for stat migration, it only gave such a small about of experience compared to the smaller ID changes in the same amount of time. However, now that it's 2000 xp for a stat migration. That makes it so much better. Of course as a master ID, you don't care for xp, but for those that aren't master yet, getting 600 xp in 10 minutes for stat migration was not worth it.

You're right there - it is getting better. People are getting more used to the fact that they have to go through us to get their stats migrated, and it's becoming a more accepted part of the gameplay now. Right now, the biggest problem is the xp gain leading to the lack of new ID's. Sure, there are some people that are still going through the incredibly painful grind, but not nearly enough for the demand.

Well that is because players that don't like stat migration are no longer playing IDers, and only players that do like them are in-game playing to tell you anything.

Pros and cons to having both old and current stat systems

From the customers viewpoint

Pros

Customers can fine tune their stats

Died hard solo/anti-social players areno longer forced to go to an ID

Prices for stat migration will get under control

Con

From the IDers viewpoint

Pros

Less /tells

Less anti-social customers

You can fine tune your own stats

Happier customers mean bigger tips

Still issupporting combat professions

Devs can adjust timer of old system to get IDers the right customer flow

Yes, I see the xp-gain as one of our most important issues, too. If you see it rationally then the time it takes to get to master is much better now and compared to lets say crafter professions (putting makros aside) it may seem to be not that bad, but it's a fact that 'grinding' ID, even ... or especially with stat migrations! ... is darn boring... and with those crafting-makros you can speed up the time to master any crafting profession extremly and even do the crafting part over night so you can actually play when you are actually online. Not that I am a fan of those makros (grrr... I hate em, but that's nothing to be discussed here), but it's an option the IDs not even have,

And still: I love to be an ID

Glad to see this post as my general feeling has always been that most IDs that are in the game like the Statmigration. At least the ones I meet at my server. Also I have never had anyone haras me and Ive had very few complaining about IDers doing statmigration!! Most of the time people are supportive and they tell me they like the new system and they think we deserve this function as it gives us more things to do and give us the possibility to make a living as an imagedesigner. So Im a big ? everythime I hear the people who constantly claims they are harrased and so on. Could it be themselves doing something wrong here? I dont want to flame anyone or anything as I think we should stribe to get a good forum and a good atmosphere in here. But since Ive never experienced any bad behavior nor my other ID friends. Maybe we have just been lucky about the server??

Im really proud of being an imagedesigner now, as finally we play a role in the game like the other professions, and for socialising statmigration is the best that has ever hapened to the profession. That is my fullheartly meaning.

If there is a player who blames IDs for being the only ones who can statmigrate. Ask them to go and blame the docs for being the only one able to buff or blame the smugglers for being the only one able to sliceand so on..

A mmorpg should be a game where you need services from others. I strongly belive thos mmorpgs that succed in thatare the ones that will attact most people in the long run.

Seriously. I dont belive there are may players who has this blame IDs attitude. Every day when I log on and go to the tent. I meet nice and sweet people, and I have a fun time doing ID. I love the new tents... And I love the whole idea about the tents as it now is a place to find people who wants ID or statmigration.

True IDs love statmigration!

/agree Girl

I personally like doing them, I do wish we could cut the timer down just a bit to please the customers, but I do like doing them. It definitly gives me a chance to know people I wouldn't normally know.

I have a love/hate relationship with the current system...

I love being able to help people who need or want help and are nice about it.

I hate being nagged, harassed, and bitched at by people who need help but don't want it.

I love the constant source of income.

I hate feeling guilted into giving stat migrations for cheaper because the player is new.

I love interacting with the cool people who want to have a good time while I work on them.

I hate dealing with the harassing customers and fellow IDs who bully and berate to get their way.

If anyone tries to pull a guilt trip on me for being a new, penniless player, they're outta there. But if someone says "Oh, I don't have that much, lemme run some missions and I'll be back", I'll do it for free. Just the fact that the player wants to earn their own way in the game is enough to evoke my generosity.

I have also adopted this policy. It works well.
