Thread: ID Training -- Etiquette?

Just out of curiousity, how many of you up and coming ID's bother to tip us Masters who are training you? I personally paid my way through the entire skill tree, but I train other ID's all the time and they rarely if ever tip.

I don't ASK for a tip, but shouldn't this be a common courtesy? The skills aren't cheap and for us to wait around for you to come find us for training and such takes away from our normal times with customers, doesn't that in itself deserve some compensation?

Have a bit of consideration please the next time you're asking for training. =/

I always tip 50% of the amount of cash it would cost me to buy the skill from an NPC. Even though I can barely afford that (only made novice a few days ago, have had 2 customers since and both ripped me off - speak of a nice starting experience ). Honestly though, it seems so hard to find image designers around at all for training that I expect I'll have to buy my way through the skill tree.

To be honest, you'll appreciate it more if you do buy it all yourself. You're on a much smaller server, so the population just hasn't caught up to you yet. Being on Bria, ID's are a dime a dozen there and Masters abound.

Hehe, Ibought 90% of my CH skills on my main toon from the NPC trainer, so I know what you're talking about. Just seems pretty difficult for my IDer to make money - she has no weapon skills, and picked musician as second profession, where tips are basically nonexistant. So the only way for me to make money at all at the moment is to sell a few minor items I can craft (have novice artisan too), run deliver missions and hope that my future customers won't run off without even tipping 100 credits even though they had said "I'll pay you" and spammed me with "u image design me plzzz, i pay" before I IDed them

Make sure to throw up your title if you have one and just try to be strong!! The cantina is famous for morons that don't like to pay unfortunately but it's a good place to find decent folk too. Just be alert when you're playing music to people coming in asking for a new hairstyle or whatever. I tend to ignore the 733T speak people because they're normally 12 and have no comprehension of the business world anyway.

Yup, as Nat said keep the faith there are nice folks out there that understand we have a skill that can't be bought from a vendor. Sadly your not on my server or I'd throw some business your way.

I tip a good percentage of the cost of the skill from a trainer.

I totally agree. I trained one woman on four higher up skills. She did say thanks but a tip would have been nice. Although I dont need the money I also paid my own way, and it is just a courteous gesture. You dont have to tip a lot but try and tip something. Just like you expect to be paid from your clients, its a service being offered (most masters nowadays do not need the app points)

Well I'd like to say that I stand apart from this crowd. While I'm sure tipping is good manners for most, with me I'm far less formal. If you want to tip, that's fine, but I don't expect it.

I always tipped everyone who trained me. I may not have tipped alot, but it seemed to surprise them that someone would actually tip for training.

I don't expect a tip, but I would appreciate one. Apprentice points work no matter what you are training in, so if you have more than one profession the app points are definitely a bonus. Any other skill you try getting trained in, they won't even do it w/out you paying first for them to train you.

I don't ask for it, or expect it, but it would be nice if other were considerate and did so.

Seems silly to want/expect/desire a tip. Some skills I paid for myself some other people trained me in and I return the favor to others.

Since I like to hang out where I'm the only master ID, I tend to do a fair amount of training. I've only been tipped for it a few times, but that never really bothers me. Yeah, I had to pay for my training, but who cares. I get app exp for training others, and it never hurts to help someone else.
