Thread: ID Training -- Etiquette?
I paid for some and got trained for a bunch. While I didn't tip at the time other than saying thanks because I ended spending all my money getting training from npc's, I've kept the people that trained me on my friends list and when I get an ID request but I'm no where near the person I have them contact the people that trained me. Aeryss should be getting a lot of extra business because of it =)

I was very pokey in getting to Master ID and so did not buy any of my skills. Wensicia was one of the first Master ID's on the server and ended up training myself, Kink, and Faith. Later when Kink and Faith got ahead of me they trained me in turn, and even later I got some training from Kamie (who I trained in her earlier boxes)and Escia (we traded training which we got from any of the above mentioned). I also got one of my boxes from Tygress (aka Rilawyn), or was that a Dancing box? Hmm anyway I'm pretty sure Wensicia paid for all of her boxes but she always refused to accept payment. I remember making her a sleeveless dress in her favorite colors in gratitude
We all took our cues from her and didn't ask for payment from each other nor do we ask for paymentfrom up and coming Image Designers.
If I do not knowany giventrainer at ALL I will tip a certain amount, which has probably been less than some wanted, and more than others expected. Tipping for training is really a tricky subject. You never know who has paid for all of their boxes and who has been given them all for free. Really to escape any social discomfort on either end it is probably best to just be upfront about the whole thing. You shelled out over 100k for your ID skills and would appreciate help making your money back? Tell the trainee you would appreciate it if they tipped you whatever they deemed appropriate within their budget. Not wanting to offend somebody training you by not paying them or paying them too little; or not wanting to offend an acquaintance who might feel bad that you feel you DO need to tip them...just ask if the person bought their skills and if so that you would like to help cover their expenses. No matter what show your deep appreciation for their time and sharing of their skill, and make sure to let them know what skills you have to offer and that you would be happy to train them anytime. ![]()
