Thread: 120 Hours Straight to master ID
- If you don't have a second account, doing ID on self willnet half of the XP. There is no friend in the world that will grind 120 hours of ID with you.
- I didn't take into account that 300 point per physical change every 5 minutes isn't available until much, much later in the ID skill tree. So you start the profession by doing minor cosmetic changes that will net you 250 points every 5 minutes when grinding with a friend.

Then spend a couple of months working on it gradually. It's mastering an advanced profession no matter how "unimportant" some people think it is next to the combat classes. I'm not surprised that 1 tree of Bounty Hunter can be done in less time then 4 trees of Image Designer.
As for staying sane...I was insane before so I wouldn't notice the change! ![]()
Well, the newbie experience at image designer is now utterly frustrating. Try to find 50 persons to get the second skill box of the entertainer skil, who will not go to the master image designer(s) who also hover in the tent. And the old Lekku-left, Lekku-right, Lekku-left becomes incredibly boring after the first few minutes. Especially since nothing happens as you grind ID, trying to level high enough to become at least remotely interested for the populace in general.
In the combat classes you at least are in combat actually fighting for your life while you level, as ID, you are sitting around somewhere and praying like hell that you find somebody to talk to and that god allmighty sends some more hopeless newbs your way, who will not go straight for the next master ID. If you are guilded you can at least participate in the guildchat, while boring yourself to death otherwise.
I would really recommend that the development team tried to grind image designer from scratch on a regular server, not knowing anybody, not having any friends. I guess most of the testing on TC and most of the feedback was done and given by IDs, who have progressed further in the skilltree. After such an emphasis being put into the new player experience, this neglect of requirements of new players is quite irritating.
To be fully correct here, the interface is great work, and I would really look forward to be able to use more of the newly implemented features, but I do not believe I will ever get there.
I just finished my first box of hairstyle (10k), and it took me about4 hours, maybe more. It wasn't under ideal circumstances, so no doubt anyone who is more focussed probably can do it in half the time. I was lucky to have friends to talk to, but that also made me forget to press the commit button. Yes it is realy dull and boring, but it also means gaining master id now means something. It used to mean something before, and it will again. That in itself is actually a good thing.
Since I have done entertaining professions mostly, I am somewhat used to things taking a lot of time to progress. I know its possible to master dancer/musician in matter of days, but under normal playing conditions it takes you a lot longer. So what I do is just do one block of ID each day, and dance the rest of the time.
I think the devs are trying to steer us away from the idea that every profession has to be grinded into more the idea of actual play the profession. I'm just not sure if adding a timer is the right way to do it. For me, after a second day working on ID, I have to say that yes the timer is annoying, but it surely isn't impossible. At least for me not terrible enough to not wanting to continue. Of course I would be very happy if they would decrease the timer or remove it all together, but its at least not so much discouraging that I won't master it.
Perhapsthisway it will attrack people to your profession who actually wants to be one, who are dedicated enough to deal with the timer and perhaps may stick around much longer.

Umm then why did they make master professions to unlock jedi. Sure they are fixing it but they did alot of damage doing that system for unlocking.

I never liked that part about unlocking a jedi, tho I am also not very eager to obtain one. Tho how they envisioned it and how it turned out were quite different, hence the change that's coming now. Their intention was to have people try out new professions, to explore and don't get stuck on one or two professions, but it was never the intention to massgrind your way to jedi through 25 professions or so. They merely tried to encourage players to try something else, have them discover for themselves that they actually enoy beinga crafter as well as a combat profession, or entertainer etc. And to actualy play them, rather than grind through them.
Right now it's what most people do when they pick a profession, first grind to master then have fun. Tho some forget thata masteredprofession isn't necessary toenjoy the game.
Tho somehow they must have realized that somegrinding will always be part of it, or they never would haveallowed afk macroing. Perhaps they shouldn't.

They are halfing the timer anyway it would seem, should be ok then i think
Only for the MID's, which in a sad way makes it even harder on the non masters.
FuschiaD wrote:If they would get rid of the timer completely, I think they would see a very nice balance. As it stands right now, ID xp flows at a rate of 2.42% of an average tailoring profession. (These numbers are based on the tailor grind). This is absurd. However, the first time I mastered ID (out of four times total) I did not use a macro, I did it all by hand through the UI. And it took me a couple of weeks, casually grindinga box or two every couple of nights. It would have taken a hard grinder a couple of days. That's MUCH more in line with the going rate of professions these days. As it stands right now, it would take a person over TWO WEEKS to master ID if they did nothing but grind for 8 hoursa day. That is completely ridiculous. It's very unbalanced and it IS game breaking. Get rid of the timer.
Interesting comparison.
Just currious, how many resource did you need to master tailor?
How many do you need to master ID?
I am right now sitting in the chilastria Theed tent... alone.
No IDs..
No customers...
Practicing on myself, since no one is willing to be a test subject. I think I have about another hour untill the next ID skill box on the entertainer tree, and then two more to go before I can even start on ID. Can someone please come talk to me, I am... bored.
