An incident that happened to me the other day is what's prompting this post.
I am a Master ID; a title that I've (along with many of you) worked hard for. But it seams like when I walk into the ID tent with that tag on one of two things happen: a novice ID will leave or begin to yell at me through tells. It makes me feel bad when that happens. I'm a very fair person. If there is a novice in the tent the first thing I try to do is send a tell and let them know that I will hand over all the stats and any ID'ing that they can do. They need the points, I don't.
But on the same note; Novice ID'rs need to make it a point to let people know that they are actively, looking for customers. In this incident, this person sat on the couch and did nothing when anyone walked into the tent. No waves, no hellos, not even spam. Buthad the gauhl to send me a tell that I'm steeling customers away and then goes on a rant on how it is extremely unfair when a MID come in the tent because everyone goes to them. I talked to this person and worked it out, but did I really deserve that? I'm sorry to say that this is not an isolated incident and have heard simular stories form other MID's.
Sound off and tell me what you think.

If you read over this forum, in my opinion, its the id's that are more abusive. I thank my lucky stars that I chose the server I did. (cause half of the rude ids on this forum arent on my server) . I mean, some of the threads that are posted here are just downright rude. To constantly bad mouth customers on a public forummakes one wonderabout how they might actually treat other players ingame, customers or fellow id's. Now, my server isnt perfect..last night in Coronet, I walked into the tent..with no tag on at all.. the tent was packed...I was not greeted by anyone or offered any help. They did not know I was a Master id till I was done with the customer I had met in there. Still no respect .. I try to show respect to ALL players, especially fellow Masters. Oh well. Thats just what I think.

That is strange, and sad. I wore my Master tag for2 months before dropped down to 4/4/0/0 and stopped doing most ID but for friends. I did that primarily so I could avoid rude customers with the simple comment that i had dropped master ID. Most didn't press further assuming I had dropped the profession altogether. Most of my customer's were civil, but the few who weren't were over the top rude. And of the civil ones, many were uncommunicative, especially after the patch. The professionbecame a job and I already had one of those in RL. The one thing I have always been able to count on on my server Shadowfire though has been the curteousness of my fellow professionals. I am glad to say I haven't had the misfortune of dealing with the problems you both report. I am sorry that it's happened to you though and wish you better luck in the future.

I would have to say that I've never met another rude ID, not even on the forums. Rude dancers, yes. But never a Rude ID. Some I may disagree with but that's not the same.
If the person was not actively trying to get customers, then that's their own problem. Don't feel bad. I never wear my title, and if I go (which is DANG rare) to a tent, then I stay in the corner while the novices work. If someone needs master changes then I speak up, but that's it. I actually don't sport my tag anymore because I roleplay and don't want to drop what I am doing. I have been told that's rude, but frankly I'm playing the RPG part of the MMORPG. Ah well.
Anyway, I have never seen the forums bad mouth their customers. Technically they don't even gossip. They have created threads about their best and worst ID experiences (or funniest) as a way to vent if need be. This is not bad mouthing, slander, or gossip. It is venting. The other three would state names, not just use "Customer" or "Them"
So it is a nameless issue.
The tailors do this, or they did when I was a tailor and reading their forums. It was a great way for the tailors to keep sane. .... The last thing you want is for an entire profession to reenact the Postal Service's darkest two years, now right?
Basically, you'll run into all kinds. The dancers have their "Pro-buff bot AFK" and their "Pro live entertainment" factions and that can get pretty brutal. But the ID's seem to be blessed ot not have ... factions... like that. (The "Charge, no harge" could count though...)

Since the ID patch, there has been a definite upswing in rude ID's. Contrary to popular belief, I'm really not one of them.
I think rudeness is born out of ignorance and stupidity. I may be a loudmouthed, opinionated little witch on the forums, but in game I try to be as calm and polite as I know how. It's only when someone forces me to repeat myself (which I hate above all else) that I'm going to get nasty.
However, I still think the customers take the cake on this one. That's not to say that all customers are a pain in the rear. The good customers always have, and always will, FAR outweigh the bad. But if we're just comparing the number of rude ID's to the number of rude customers, the customers will always outnumber the ID's - if for no other reason than there are so few ID's these days.

it's really hard to say, some customers are extremely rude, but at least they're gone in a few minutes...
my newest gripe is when a customer comes into the tent, and i greet them and ask them if they need help, etc...
they'll say something like "yes, i need a stat migration"
and while I'm saying "i can do that for you" with a smile, another IDer (who hasn't said a word all day, and hasn't even talked to the customer) snatches them up with a group invite instantly.
so rude
do they have a little alarm that goes off when somebody uses the words "stat" or "migration" ?
i start to feel like i am a secretary or PR person for the other IDers in the tent simply because i go through the formalities of being personable with the customers.
I've found a tactic that works is sending the customer "woops, looks like you've been stolen!" lol, and most of the time they'll disband from the greedy IDer's group and ask me to invite them instead, go figure, they like being treated like a customer rather than a exp/credit vessel.

I agree... that is 100% out of line. If that person doesn't even have the time to greet them with a smile or wave, then why should they get the xp and credits?
Thankfully, I'm friends with most of the ID's on my server, and the vast majority of them are really nice and really helpful. One of them in particular, she and I like to sit in the tent and give each other makeovers when we're not with a client. Of course, it's extremely uncomfortable when someone walks in to get some work done and you've just been transformed into a fat, pink alien. Credibility goes RIGHT out the window... LOL

Zizz! I was in the tent! I keep group chat on so I don't loose track of what the customer is saying and I didnt see you were in there until after my session was done and I read back in spatial! I am SO sorry if it seemed like I was ignoring you!!!
Unfortunately I haven't managed the trick of keeping track of all the different windows yet.

I need to add my 2 cents in here....
I found leveling up ID It was a very rewarding fun experiance filled with undeniable 10 minuts of undevided attention in the hopes to catch a big tip at the end.....
What happened is I met alot of nice people and alot of loosers.
IT was fun to make someone happy changing them.. and it was not fun to be stiffed by a no tip.
My beleif is the client should determine the tip.... It all worked out inthe end.. the big tippers canceled the no tippers... I kept a list of big tipper for future no lineup. The no tipper I added and flagged freeloader and will deny services to them.
As for Rudeness.... I has my share of idiot come by. I myself am not imune to loosing my temper either... This profession is if you play it as a profession and not a grind it is VERY stressfull.
As a Novice I tried to greet everyone and be nice.. this payed off for me. I also left my character on AFK so novices could stat me over and over and over again. The ID work is rush nothing rush nothing rush. and it all took 10 mins a shot.
Now that I am a master I try to direct everyone to go to the Novices since I don't need EXP. I tell the players Come see me if you need the difficult things like body colour custom colours etc... I take my time and I see if the novices need training...
Jumpig back to the question at hand... At master I am more rude than I would like to be... With the flag up I get spammed for work. I can pile up 8 people in a queue without trying... This has left me with a difficult balence of "customer care" I enjoy roleplaying while making changes to enhance the persone fell that thier new look will be better... I tend to focus my attention to one customer at a time and try to calm the masses...
I will say I like this profession.. I have reported several people for harrassment and I have added a pile of loosers to the /addignore list.
My MAster ID is on Ahazi.
I would say if a player wishes to ID in the tent with a "slave" let them do that.. they are grinding and are not interested in the profession. .. If A player is a ID and is making a go of it... PLease be curteous.. and yu wont wonder why there are no master ID's around. It's soo stressfull I find myself needing to run out of the tent to breath.

Oh will you all shut up. If there's one entertainer profession that should be complaining, it's Dancers and Musicians for the lack in methods of making good money. ID's can make good decent money now, and while ID's are stuck in ID tents all day long changing people's looks or migrating stats, all you combat professions are out there fighting making mad money and getting great loot.
People who say 20k for a stat migration is overpriced should quit complaining. How many times do you need a stat migration? Once every profession? And why does a n00b need a stat migration? Because the n00b was too newbish to make his stats the way he wanted them during character creation?
Complainers don't realize that YES, ID's done require ressources to ID or migrate stats... we require TIME! That time we spend in tents is time we COULD of used fighting. Time we COULD of used doing other things. But we're not, we're helping you look nicer and helping your stats.
And these days, no should should say that they cannot afford a stat migration. It's impossible. Either you're just incredibly lazy or you dunno how to play SWG and you should concentrate on more important things rather than your looks or stats. Like what you say? How about LEVELING YOUR PROFESSION as a start? And while leveling and gaining XP, you get money...

I have never had any problems with fellow IDs in the tent. Neither as a Novice nor on any of the (rare) occasions when I have brought one of my MIDs back. At worst, I have not been noticed, but given how hard it can be to keep track of spatial chat and/or to see if someone new enters the tent while grinding, I can understand that (I find it hard to spot new people coming in myself). As a Novice, I am always happy to see a MID there as it can be hard to find someone when I need training.

I think you just proved my point! I was commenting on how rude some of our fellow ID're are and you came in with not only a rude opener, you went way off the subject! What did the price that we charge have to do with how people act? You do have a legitamate gripe about the rates, but I don't think it's going to get the justice it deserves on this string.
