I know I am. And I really couldn't care less. If rude = outspoken, with no tolerance for idiots, then I guess that's me. Probably you too. It's okay, you're in good company.

LOL

I do hate stupid people, perhaps that was my biggest issue with being in a social profession.

Being outspoken to help those who are learning about the faux pas’ of ID is one thing, but it is another when someone is yelling at you because your psychic sources were not working that day and could not see that the person on the couch, grinding is also helping people.

As a customer.....

I see other customers rude more than ID'rs are... and yes I am counting the fact that I walk into an ID tent and not get instantly greeted.. sometimes it is a couple minutes before acknowledging my presense or my request for assistance...

I dont count the lack of greeting as rude, just "busy" you have a window up in front of you, and I dont know the size from YOUR end, but from my end I cant see anything in the tent besides a tiny edge around that big window..

You are also usually busy in groups working with customers...

I understand that stuff

I also try to make sure that if I have a stat migration to do that I wait until I decide to have some other work done TOO... I come in and ask politely for help, usually stating a summary of the work I need done.

I dont always leave with all the work done, because I am perfectly willing to wait on SOME of it to help an aspiring ID get XP... I'll come back later for more work.

I also refuse to not give a tip, even with the ID'r insists that they dont need one, "they get XP"... you still take some of your time to do a change to my character that I want or need done.. you get paid.

so you have a few of us out here that support you and understand what limitations and environment that you work under..

I guess I've just got really lucky so far in that most customers are fairly nice. Some just aren't that talkitive, and, since I try to RP my character and she is VERY social, that sort of drives me nuts. But to each his own. In the end it isn't all that bad, but the conversation does certainly help especially if I have to wait for Stat Migration timers.

One thing that does make me feel a bit guilty of, why I don't know, is when another IDer is doing stat migrations, yelling their offer and assistance to the area, yet people who walk into the tent I end up giving them the service. I've seen this person a few times but they usually just take a seat and start advertising. No greetings to customers, no nothing. Makes me wonder if they are just macroing the greeting after X seconds and waiting. Granted, sometimes I can stand in the ID tent for an evening and maybe get one to three customers tops. That's when I just craft or something.

You could try bumping up the resolution on your game settings to get that window smaller. I know that ID window is pretty large, however I have at the least a 1 inch gapif I move that window to the far right side of the screen. Then at least I can point my character to face the tent enterance and see if people have walked in.

If I'm just waiting for the timer or waiting for a customer to give me some feedback of what they want, I'll send a quick "Hello!" or "Greetings" to the newcomer. At least to let them know I see they are there.

I have nothing but 100% respect for my fellow ID's, UNLESS they give me a reason to have a problem with them. So far, in the entire time I've been an ID, that has only happened twice.

Also, I have something to say to Zizz. You say that we make you sick because we complain about our bad customers. Come ON. It happens every day, in any profession that provides a service to another player, and it happens constantly in real life. Didn't you ever work retail? Didn't you ever have a really, REALLY pain in the butt customer that you complained about to friends, family, anyone who'd listen at the end of the day? Sure you did. I imagine everyone has had to deal with a problem customer in the workplace. The only reason we complain about it so much is because the bad ones stick out in your mind far better than the good ones. It's unfortunate but true. Never once have we said that all our customers are rude and obnoxious. Far from it. The majority of my clients are wonderful to deal with. I'm sure it's the same for most of the other ID's. But the bad ones are the memorable ones, and the ones that make for an interesting story. That's why you hear so many more of those on the boards than you do the good ones.

As far as the window goes, it's quite easy to handle so long as you don't have a habit of hitting the wrong keys --

Hitting 'alt' will minimize all open windows without actually closing them. Hitting 'alt' again brings them back up. I had a customer I was talking to last night who had taken great care to make his character's face look just like his own, so while migrating him I minimized the window so I wouldn't feel like playing with the sliders.

I have been a hairstylist in rl for over 13 years and I have had my share of customers like these..believe me. But see, we never talked about them in salon or within range of future clients.. Rants about customers were saved for our personal time and names were not exposed..Its just my opinion that this forum is kinda like a public salon..itsnot justfor ID's. Everyone reads this and well, if someone who had a bad experience with an ID happened to cross these forums and see thier name slandered for something they feel was unjustified, dont you think that just causes more trouble? That person would most likely turn very bitter against that ID, and hence the backlash begins..I dont think I ever said you guys make me "sick". Maybe just a little "unprofessional" when it came to posting names and screen shots of clients. So yes,we all have our share of annoying customers, but it comes with the profession. And as professionals, we need to learn how to deal with them in a professional manner.

Haha, that is why I never use names when I complain!!

As for being professional... I dunno. I play this game for fun, not to pretend I am at work. However, everyone's game styles are different.

Ohbelieve me, its all about fun first!! All Im saying is that if some IDs demand respect and courtsey in thier gameplay, than they should make sure they are equally deserving of it.

LOL You are better than me.... after they prove to be discourteous and disrespectful, they cease to be treated with respect and courtesy. I live by the cliche addage "do unto others as you'd have them do unto you." But in reverse...
