Thread: I hate the ID tent now

It seems like 70% of my time in the ID tent is wasted now because:
1) With less skill points for MID, EVERY 2-bit noob ent is going for master ID. Even if they have no interest in ID-ing people. Just because it's there to do! That means a bunch of pairs of ppl who are NOT helping customers are crowding the tents. Go to freakin' Vreni Island or Moenia! PLEASE!
2) They- confuse the customers, drive down prices by offering free stat migrations while giving crappy ID service, interrupt every 5 minutes for teaches (of course, right when you're in the middle of a complicated procedure and they keep demanding you to disband YOUR group :smileysad
I wouldn't care so much but they are talentless drones just doing it because the skill point situation allows now. I stopped being their ID guinea pig 6 months ago because you know what? You're never going to see 90% of them once they make master anyway! But thanks to the stupid skill points, there's an ENDLESS flood of non-talent washing through the tent now, making it SUCK big time for longtime master IDs.
Whee, flame away or what not, but it's true. Every time they mess with the timers, globs of these 1-timers appear but after a month or so, it dies back down. But with the skill points like this, they're going to keep...on...coming...

With the timers gone, I'm wondering why they are in the tents at all.
This is the flavor of the month, and with stat migrations gone, they will dry up. Just remember the hologrind - everyone and their mother was an ID for a while, and after a while it calmed down. It will do the same here too.
Now that tents are unnecessary, you might want to try setting up camp elsewhere. You can name your storage droid something like "Master-ID-n'Jessi-in-Cantina", set it on patrol, and go hang out in the cantina.
Until the tents give us a way to register, they don't really have any discernable benefit. You won't see me there!

Let them come. After the CU, there is no reason to use the tent. When the customers deal with these no talent hacks, they will be all the more happy to find and pay for IDs with some actual artistic ability.
Customer: can u fx me?
MID: How may I help you?
Customer: sum ID f'd me up
MID: Sure. Come down to my shop and I'll be happy to take a look.
Customer: i'm in Theed
MID: It's ok hon, there's a shuttle that runs to the city where my shop is located.
Customer: can u come to Theed?
MID: Sorry, I'm a master, I don't use the salon tents. I have my own shop.
MID (sends waypoint): This is my shop and I'll be waiting here for you.
Customer: no money 4 shuttle can u come?
MID: I can come to you, but I'll have to tack the shuttle fee onto your bill.
Customer: bill?
MID: Yes, you know... the thing you pay for my services?
Customer: other ID did work 4 free.
MID: Then have him/her fix you for free. I charge for my services.
Customer: ...
MID waits patiently for light to dawn on Marblehead.
Customer: i'll come 2 u how much
MID: I have a 10,000 credit base fee. If we have to do a lot of changes, the fee will be higher.
Customer: 10000?
MID: That's my base fee. If we have to do a lot of changes, the fee will be higher.
Customer: i'll give u 1000 ok?
MID: Sorry, no. Ten thousand is my basic fee.
Customer: ...
(MID is probably giggling maniacally, but sticking to his guns. The customer eventually comes and pays the basic fee, and is pleased to look decent again.)
We know that there will be situations like this with some of the hacks that will be playing around with ID. People WILL remember the names of the bad IDs and they'll stop going to them. I've already fixed more than one hack's mistakes and gotten some of my best customers from them. If you are good, be professional, and don't let anyone push you around, you will have a decent repeat customer base... and word of mouth will gain you more customers. Put your MID tag up when you want to be available for work and don't hang out in the tent. People will do a search for and MID and find you.
I mastered about a month after release. I have a couple of customers from that long ago who still come to have work done and pass my name to people who are looking for MIDs.
The newbie IDs who are impatient and interrupt my ID sessions constantly get no training from me. Fortunately, most have waited patiently while I tended to my customers. If they want free training, they join my group. If they can't be bothered to do that, they can keep their group and pay the NPC trainer for their teaching.
Customer: can u fx me?
MID: How may I help you?

Kyree, your post brought back so many memories, and simultaneously made me grit my teeth.
I am far too impatient and pissy to be an ID. How in the world did I manage to get such a large clientele...? I won't even ID half my server because they're idiots. LOL

wow good points on this post, my saying is "10k more or less, ok" i usually always get 10-25k somtimes i get 1000000 other times zip, nadda, ziltch. if i get 0 from a person the 2nd time i see them they must pay 10k. il do a free test, after that i charge em.

The ID-tents are nice gathering places thanks to their very nice decoration and the soothing music.
Aber the anticipated rush on our profession I want to say, that this is something that we shouldn't be afraid of at all. As NJ said we had a similar rush during the hologrind... but in the end it brought us some nice folks that actually like to play an ID and the rest of the profession-tourists quickly moved along. Other professions have seen and will see it, too and there is nothing bad about it. It might not allways be convenient for everyone if there are "too many" of a single profession around, but it will all calm down again, too.

I have my own mini tent at my complex.
Since Ani'cul is Master Merchant and I had a Merch Tent I was useing it for storage,
I decorated it up in a Salonn format, seating, armoir bookcase (storage hidey holes) photographs and recorded images etc.
So now Luc'ina can sit in her own private Salon when she is 'on call'

Bienurdau is a Master ID now, she's going to be a Master ID, Master Tailor ( though long ways from tailor part )
I don't know why we have tents. Be cool if we could place our own Salon in a Player city. Chefs, Musicians, Dancers all get structures they can place in cities, why not us ?

or.... did you abandon a bunch of players to post nonsense on the ID forums all day?
do you even play? it seemed like you totally abandoned everyone you knew in game awhile ago from the posts i saw.
