Thread: ID User Interface
It has come to my attention (thanks Kwee) that the image designer user interface could use a little work.
We are going to be spending some time on it in the next couple of weeks, and I'm hoping we can get some good ideas in the next day or so to make it more useful.
So far I've heard it would be very useful to mirror what we have in character customization, with the addition of actual numbers by the sliders. Any other ideas that would make the process more useful would be appreciated!
Thanks,

I think the best way to improve this would be to make it so when a person is getting their image changed by the image designer, they are able to choose exactly what they want done.
example: I'm getting my hair and face changed. I should be able to get a window pop up on my screen that allows me to specifically choose what I want changed, and I should be able to change it myself. Just like when you start the game and you're able to customize your character. When being image designed, I should have complete control of how I want my face/hair/body to look instead of just telling the image designer what I want to be done. I should be able to do it myself, then click ok when I feel I've changed what I want to be changed. After I click ok, it sends the information to the image designer and it automatically changes everything that I wanted to be changed. This way, the image designer makes people look exactly like they want to look. Also, there should be another option to allow the image designer to do whatever they want just like how image designing is now. But, that other option to have the player who wants to be image designed design himself should be there as well. Hmm, master image designer skill? I think that's a good idea.
/cheer!
This is just the kind of thing that neglected classes want to hear! Go ID's!

*ahem*
then why do i don't have the ability to build my own weapon/armor and the armorsmith only lends me his skillpoints.
i'll experiment with his skill, i'll use his factory, i'll use his.....
if i'm in a group, why can't i take over the other teammembers actions. the log on go afk and i have some dolls to play around with
why ....
bleh. you get my point
What I think would be helpful is a way that the ID can "showcase" the modifications that they are capable of to the customer.
It get's quite tedious to have to sit and go though every possible hairstyle, bodystyle, etc. just to show the client what is avalible.
Just a thought =)
give them an interface that allows them to fixprofessions that are actually broken..
and speaking of interfaces..
the gambling in the hotel??
worst....interface....ever....
I played gambling games on a commodore 64 that were better then that..
Lol, make ID's into lil droid vendors that roll around, ya click em and change whatever you want to change. The ID becomes immobile when you have the screen up so... they need to hold still while *I* play my game. Don't let them talk to me or in any way do something, in fact, all those artisan people, do the same with them. I want to just click them and have them give me stuff, kinda like a Pez dispenser...
/sarcasm off
I'd like to see either an option to upload a small JPG, or have the image designer design a specific image in game (though that would mean coding a drawing program) so that they can give tatoos to anyone with skin. The images can be saved as data objects like schematics.
For example, I'm a member of a guild, so I wanted my guild insignia tatooed on me, sort of like military platoon does when they've fought long and hard together.
The ID should have the ability to resize and place the image on the player's body. From an art designer perspective, it would be a layer in between the skin and the clothing, so it can be covered by the right clothing, or shown when wearing other clothes.
For higher level image designers, there should be a "freehand option", where the ID can draw the image directly onto the player's body, instead of having to make an image first. This would allow the ID to design a tattoo that precisely matches the contours and shadowing of the target's body.
For decency's sake, the tatoos can only be placed where the ID can see skin. So a player has to be wearing clothes that show skin where the tatoo is to be placed.
Having the person being able to choose what they want done to them rather than trying to explain to the ID what it looks like would be a MAJOR improvement.
