Thread: ID User Interface
I had thought about asking for the client to be able to choose what they wanted and then just have me apply it, but you know what.....that turns IDs into to little more than ID Vending machines. At least the way it is set up now you have to have interaction, and if you hate the interaction, I honestly question why you are doing ID unless its just to ID yourself and you plan to drop it later.
Please don't take that as a flame, its just an observation and my own opinion.
I do not want to lose the ability to "Design" a person and then let them see if they like it. I have rarely ever suggested a style or look that has been turned down, actually most of the time, the client "loves" how I have made them look. And it leads to great interaction and good tips

I'm not an image designer, but I play a human PC. Why can't a human get a tatoo?
I'd like to see either an option to upload a small JPG, or have the image designer design a specific image in game ...
Unfortuneatly this will never be allowed. There would be no way to filter profane or inappropriate images without manual approval for each image....
Just look at all the obscene names as it is.
I'd love for there to be a way for the Image designer to show you a small window with the modifications that they can make, with numbers beside them. You could then tell the Image Designer "Hey, I like number 5" or something to that effect. It would make the whole process less tedious, and would let others actually SEE the nice stuff that they can use on other players.
Another idea I think would be really cool is this: some form of craftable, consumable item that could perform image designer functions for a one time use. For instance, I am a Zabrak Master Ranger, I like to travel to a lot of different planets and change my clothes to a different color scheme to match the planet I'm on. My outfit scheme is excellent, but I cannot change my facial tattoo color unless I go see an image designer every time I travel. Maybe there could be a tattoo color kit I could buy from an image designer and use on myself. Maybe for other species some kind of hairstyling kit or something like that? These would have to be limited in use, maybe only work on one facial feature type, and maybe even be species specific. However, this would be excellent, since it would let players control their own look to an extent, and create a new way for image designers to generate income. I don't think too many of them are rich as it is.
Just a thought. Carry on with the regularly scheduled discussion.
I want image designers to be able to show me what they got.
"What do you wanna have changed"
"my Hair"
"oke, i have these hairstyles for you"
<popup with hairstyles with numbers>
"Cool, I like hairstyle number 16. DO that for me"
"Like this?"
"yes, now what colors do you have for me for the hair."
"I have 64 colors..here.. I show them to you"
<popup with colors>
'Cool, gimme color 32..that brownish color"
"okies"
"Great..looks great..how much this cost"
"I can change it for you like this for 4000 credits..."
"Oke"
<popup with my character with all changes and amount of credits i need to accept>
"bye"
"Bye"

image designers are getting love and medics still wait.

Its very important you give colors and stuff numbers. If we have a cool color red , we want to know the number we can give to tailors and image designers so everything matches
Two thoughts...
- A way to make multiple changes at once, or at least showcase them. A number of times I've had, for example, a twi'lek who I changed her skin color.. She was unsure about it, but I convinced her to take it then changed her markings and makeup color.. Suddenly she loved it. If I could have at least shown her the whole thing from the beginning, it would have been easier.
- In the idea of showcasing, maybe a way to showcase several styles.. With the number possible increasing as you get more image design skill.. It could be like an inventory view where you could see a bunch of small models, or zoom them in to get a close up view. It would make going through the possibilities quicker. For the ID end of the interface, it could be a case of selecting the adjustment to make, then selecting the model and making the adjustment.
Finally, no ID should not give others the interface.. Part of ID for me is when someone comes in and says "Make me look mean" or "Make me look innocent" or something.. I then make changes to them to get the look they want and they say "Yes, that's perfect! Furthermore, this would make it possible to have an AFK ID vendor bot.. And you don't want that happening, it will ruin ID completely. Someone could just make a macro: join group, target second member, start image design, disband, wait a little bit, repeat.
"I wish you would let these guys change peoples race. that would rock "
Hehe. I can just see a master Bio-engineer making a body recepticle, a Master Droid engineer making a brain data storage module, and a Master Image designer using these finished items to transfer someone from one race to another. Require a Master Smuggler to run a really brutal gauntlet and survive to grab a needed component etc.
Now THAT is what I call a complete makeover! =)

that would be as usefull as changing their gender... .I don't think thats a good idea.
First off, please guys this is about the ID interface, if you are not an ID or have no experience with this interface, please don't post. Keep on topic.
I completely disagree that the customer should be the one to choose which modification they want, that would negate our purpose. The only possible implementation of this should be to see the hair styles. Wherecustomers would see what we see when wego to choose the hair styles, however, they should not be allowed toplace them themselves. One reason for this isbecause some people charge differently according to the level of the style. This would make it almost impossible to enforce that since someone could take what they want and leave. It also makes the customer much less inclined to pay us, many see our profession as so trivial anyway, if they could see all their changes and do it themselves it would contribute to this lack of respect. It would make us little more than terminals. The ultimate decision should always be theimage designers.
For the sliders: It would be great if we could have numbers attached, like percentages so that we could for example say this is 40% height, would you like more or less. And have tatoos/markings/hairstyles have values like 1, 2, ect. Also, is it possible to fix the bug where some of the facial sliders reset to zero everytime we look at them? It makes it very difficult to work with. Eye shape is also named improperly, it should be eye angle, the eye shape needs to be added.
For colors:We really want the palettes like in character creation over the sliders. It would also be great if we could have numbers on this as well, like color 1, 2, ect.
I really want to thank Kwee for all her hard work and Jake Rodgers for actually responding and working on this! It really means a lot to see that someone is listening and actually cares about our profession! ![]()
