The same as we do now, just in space. The ability to ID the new species should be a given, but other than that I can't see any role for us there that shouldn't also apply in the land game.

With ToppDogg here. The space 'role' for all intents and purposes should be the Pilot skills and the Shipwright skills.
With the addition of some interdependacy for crafting items on part of the Shipwright.
Ship Design [like Droid Customization, etc] should remain in the field of the profession that creates them.
Possibly some extension of our GCW features if we ever get them. But it's really hard to say without knowing potential mechanics.
I do enjoy the idea of having a YT-1300 with an ID Terminal in it, though

If there was anything involving space stations, I'd like to see Salons there. And yes, the personal ship of a Master ID should act like a Salon.

I agree that fundamentally, an Image Designer works on other people. I don't like the idea of giving us the capability for any kind of ship decoration, despite any dev comments to the contrary. I honestly think that by doing so we'd be stepping on other professions' toes. I believe shipwrights should have the ability for coloring ships, and I think artisans and the like should be the ones making furniture, etc.
I think that with the expansion and the new species, we should obviously be able to ID those new species. As far as giving us something in JTL that we don't have now, I agree with many in that our own personal ship should be able to serve as an ID salon, reducing timers like the ID tents do. It'd also be nice to have such salons on any space stations (maybe even the rumored "party barge").
The only possible things that I think IDs should be able to craft, which actually doesn't really matter whether it's on ground or in space, would be maybe...bottles of hair dye that a customer can buy and use which is only temporary. Maybea wig that does the same thing...you know, ID stuff. The rest of the craftable and customizations should really go to the 'smiths that make them, or InteriorDesigners,IMO. Personally, if I was a shipwright or an interior designer, and an Image Designer got what was rightfully *my* skill and ability, I would be pretty ticked off.

I'm not a fan of ship decoration for IDers
IF ship owner can hire NPCs crew members, I hope we could ID them, like maybe some day we will be able to ID vendors. I heard that a single player can fly and remotely man the guns on a multi players ship, but I think it would be cool if he had to hire crew members to man the guns.

My personal view of Image Design is that we are the artists and stylists of SWG. As such, we focus on the external appearance of things. In the base game, this means how players look. In the expansion, you won'tsee players very much, you'll see SHIPS.As such, I think it is entirely appropriate that we use our artistic skills to decorate/design the look of ships.
After all, it is *not* the manufacturer ofa plane that decorates it historically, it is the pilots, crew andground crews that add personal touches such as nose art on fighters, tail art on bombers, etc. I think this would be a great thing for us to be able to do in JtLS.

I think the crafters should be allowed to pick their primary paint and if they plan to, secondary paint colors, but I think Decals and Vinyls and stuff of that sort could maybe help out the ID PRofession. I still support my ID Idea and Im pretty sure it can be geeared to work with JtL as well.

We should be able to polish pilots teeth so they sparkle when they smile in front of their fighters.

I'm not a great fan of doodling graffiti on ships. Image Designing is a profession that deals with how people look, not ships. We work withlipstick, comb and scissors and what not. We do not work with industrial paint as far as I'm concerned. New content for us... hmm... maybe we could ID something for players that have gained certain ranks in piloting, so it's instantly clear what rank they are (so they won't have to brag about it)

Okay…I see a lot of people talking about what Image Designers are and aren't. I used to be one of the pack that said "we make people pretty, end of story." But I think it's abundantly clear that we're not going to be amking people any prettier than we can right now for a very, very long time. With that in mind, let's open ourselves up to other similarly artistic pursuits.
I say give us nose art! Let us color anything and everything we can get our grubby little paws on. Rotation? All for it! In other words: I'm desperate. I'll take any aesthetic content I can get, and to HELL with stat migrations.
