I never end the session without getting payment. I always tell them that if they don't like what I've done I'll change it back, but payment is required or I cancel the session.

Agreed. I'll be damned if I'm gonna let some random schmuck I don't know walk out with a free makeover. With the exception of stat migrations, I work for tips anyway. That usually seems to pay fairly well, too. I have one particular client that comes to me all the time for little stuff - eye color change, holoemotes, hairstyle change - and ALWAYS pays me 10k. He makes up for the stupids.

Oh! Sorry. I've accidentally brought up the mood of this thread! Now I need to find a pet peeve to talk about.Uhm, how about... when people send me a tell and assume that just because I've worked on them (or a friend of theirs) before, that I'll be willing to run immediately to wherever they are and do whatever they need. And I HATE IT when people send me waypoints. I don't travel, ever. If someone wants my services, they can come to me.

So true. They don't pay, I don't commit.

Back when Ssumidra was grinding (and stat migrations only gave you 600 xp), I had one guy come in and ask for a stat migration. During the session, he also asked for an eye color change. I did both, then told him I charge 10k for stat migrations. He offered 2k and told me that since I wasn't a Master, I shouldn't charge so much. I pointed out that there is no difference between a stat migration given by a Novice and one given by a Master. We argued all the way through the timer, at which point, he said that I might as well accept since I had finished... raising his offer to 3k. I finally cancelled the session. Later, a fellow ID sent me a /tell asking me if I wanted to take care of him since she was busy and didn't want to... he had apparently asked her if she would migrate him for 3k. He he... I naturally replied with my reasoning behind my fee of 10k... 1k per minute... and told her about what had happened.

Now that masters take 0 time in the salons for non-stat migration stuff, I'd never let them get away with accepting then coming back. Sorry to hear you were taken.

As I said on another thread, I swung through the Theed salon on Starsider over the weekend so I could try to redo my own hair color to match a new dress. Ended up spending 1 1/2 hours doing stat migrations. Anyone complained about my price, I remided them that there were at least 3 people ahead of them and by the looks of it 5 more behind them for the price I quoted. Only had 1 walk away and had 3 whining saying they'd pay me 200k if I'd migrate them instead of logging for the night. Sorry but 600k is not worth 1/2 hour of lost sleep when you have a 11 month old baby in the house.

My perspective on it was, he had planned it that way and would not have paid me for my time even had I insisted he pay me before I pressed the commit button. He never had any intention of paying for those services. Either way, my 10 minutes would've been wasted and that's what was at stake in the situation - my time. His honor anddignity were at stake as well, and he soldthem to me for the price of a stat migration and some ID work.

That's sort of the point—you've lost ten minutes one way or the other…but there's no reason to allow an **edit** like that to benefit from it.

I suppose you're right, although I tend to look at extreme situations like this as having

an important meaning and lessonfor the individual and not necessarily for me. I lost

nothing but time, but he lost a great deal more.

I'm afraid that kind of person has no honour or dignity. They treateveryone with disrespect, so how can they have any respectfor themselves? As far as this guy was concerned, he gained big time by doing what he did. Words like respect, honour, dignity - these are meaningless to the sort of fellow that will cheat you out of payment in broad daylight and in the midst ofa crowd of onlookers.

I'm in the squill cave, armoured, buffed, with a friend and about four or five squill guardians around us. Someone else, a few meters off: "Hey Thewt, can you do a quick stat migration?" "Ehm... I'm in the middle of something here actually." "Yeah but when you killed those squills?" Yeah sure, I'll just run out of the cave, get on my bike, back to Bestine, let my buff go to waste to migrate your stats. Think again.

And here we have a perfect example of an image designer who could potentially quit image designing or the game itself, over the false impression given by too many grinders grinding image design and too many novices giving our skills away for free or generating a tip-driven mini-economy in a hard cash galaxy. When a human asks "Can you give me red eyes?" .. I don't know what to say I can't give you red eyes buddy sorry

Yea, 3000 people lining up for stat migrations is pretty annoying too, especially when your doing it and its past minute 3 and "What, im not paying that? I'll find someone else. *cancel*"

"WHY DO YOU CHARGE THAT FOR SOMETHING THAT TAKES NO RESOURCES??!!??!!?!?!!?"

This is typical of many players' attitudes towards theentertainer professions. It's based on a complete misunderstanding of how commerce works. If I find an originalPicasso in my attic, do I say to myself "well, that cost me nothing so I'll sell it for$1 at a garage sale" or do I say "Hmmm. An original Picasso. I could sell this at auction and make millions"?

The cost of producing something has absolutely nothing to do with the selling price. The selling price is determined purely by the laws ofsupply and demand. In other words the market determines the price. The only difference between our service and that of a Droid Engineer is that a DE's overhead forces him to stop selling his goods if the market price for his finished product drops under his raw materials cost. Anyone who thinks that a DE (or any other profession that involves an overhead)should make more than an Image Designer simply because an ID has no costs has no clue about economics.

I think some players need to learn the basics of capitalism.

Hmm, it looks like Dork the One-Star has been trolling through here again. Such immaturity.

One of these days I really need to get Queeble to an Image Designer. He's far too short. You try switching from the tallest Wookiee in the game to the shortest Rodian and see how you feel.

Keep up the good work people.
