so does this mean baldness will be back in publish 8? i sure hope so
I think the best way to put it is to say "the dev's goal is to have baldness added to the new UI in publish "mini" 8, but no guarantee at this point."
I've mastered ID four times on three characters, and was the first master ID on my server. I always dump the skill out of frustration, both with customers and the lack of content in the class, but I have my fingers crossed that this revamp will make the profession worthwhile again!
Heh, Cjadefire, I sometimes think about what newbies must think starting out these days. What if they, for instance, started on Rori or Talus? Or heck, any city that isn't Coronet or Theed?
"I began my journey in front of theNashal starport. Something wasn't right. It was a ghost town, as if the bustling metropolis I had read about had pack up and left... or worse.
I tried to shake the unnerving feeling and try clearing some riff raff from the city limits. Before long, it became clear that I needed instruction from a more experienced individual. I ran, and ran and ran but could find nobody. My shoes wore through the soles, but no tailor could be found. What happened to this city? Where have all of the people gone? I was determined to get to the bottom of it.
I decided that I had to travel in search of somebody.. anybody. I went from city to city, delivering parcels. Data disks, mostly. My career as a freelance courier led me to a shining achievement in architecture: Coronet, Corellia. Thinking of where I would be certain to find somebody, I head to the Cantina.
'Heal my action if it gets low!'
Pardon me, do you know what happened to Nashal?
'I may not be here, but you can tip me just the same! It's all appreciated!'
I beg your pardon, but you are very clearly there and I would like to ask you a question.
'/applaud me for xp please!'
*sigh*"
Ninja, that would be me. I've restickied the thread titled (On negativity in posting). It has a link to the forum guidelines, please refer to it.

I just wonder how long they go before discovering where all the people are. It must be quite an experience. Not at all like when many of us started. No vehicles to make travel easier, people were too poor (or low level) to go running around Dathomir every day, no player cities, etc. On the bright side, things have expanded enough that you no longer have to go asking on the forums "who knows where I can buy weapons? who has a vendor? anywhere?!"
Sorry for the hijack, I hope it isn't a big one.
*sigh* you're so right...heh i miss the old days when people would run from scavenger rats
but for me to make this post actually revelent to the topic, the buildings look awesome![]()
It took me a long time to get to Master Image Designer. I was proud to do so.
It took me a long time to get together the resources and materials together to create my own ID salon in my player city. I was proud when I finally finished it.
It's taking me a long time to get the word out about my present location. I'm having fun thinking up ways to advertise.
I've spent too long setting up my own business to worry about tethering myself anywhere else, no matter what advantages the new location will supposedly bring.
From day one, Image Designers have been a work in progress. They have been the only profession not tied to combat. They've been a unique, character-driven profession. They have always been different from other professions.
Why do we suddenly want to be like everyone else? Just because everyone else has a private structure, doesn't mean we ever needed it.
All we really need to be viable is the ability to list ourselves on the planetary map. Even if we have to work on Merchant skills to do so, it'd be a way for people on our servers to know about us. And that's really all we'd need to gain customers. Not new content, not a centralized location; just a simple way for people to find us. Is that so much to ask?
I'm also a bit offended that the development team is following our discussion of the issue without giving us all the facts we'd need to have an intelligent conversation on the subject. Vague references to the tents' benefits are hardly enough evidence to form an opinion on. If you want intelligent, informed feedback, intelligently inform us, please.
Kwee,
I been away for a while, but when I saw this I had to comment. It is a HORRIBLE idea. The ID tendt should be PLAYER CITY only. Having one in a starting city will only lock peple in the starting cities and not in the player cities where the real communities should be built. I like staying in my city on Lok. My clients come to me. With a starting city tent I now have to go back to a starting city and do my business because most players are like lemmings and will assume that is where to go to get image designed. This pulls clients away from me if I want to do my profession on Lok. And if I do go to Tatooine, I need to compete with ID's who will most likely undercut the prices to shreds to get the xp/business.
Way to go devs, another fine slap in teh face for us...
Lady China
I think the buildings in NPC's cities only are a great idea.. provided they come with a terminal to register them on the map when occupied.. I don't mind going to a city to work.. when i work in my own city (Spiritwood - Naboo - Chimeara) it's mainly roleplay anyway.. I tend to change the way i play when i need money, so why not move this less RP manner away from my town..
It would also remedy the ever boring "where are you / where can i find you" question.. I'll be in the tent.. seek me out there if you need work done..
Of course, if the tent provides too much of a benefit then we could perhaps ask for a droid module that does the same.. But let's just wait till we KNOW what the tent does, shall we ?
The moment it goes live, you can prolly find me in any of these tents...
And people.. lighten up.. it's only a game...
