In regards to timers/xp gain for non-master ID's... Why not wait untill after publish 10 to put these into effect? I know a few people who thought they would unlock their Jedi before the patch, and have ID left to do. This change has effectively made it so that if ID is required for them, they will not unlock their Jedi. 60+Hours added onto their grind is probably not the best thing to do to people right now, and trust me, I know many, many people who are very distraught because of this.

Anyway, thanks for your great work to improve ID (I like all the cool new features), but I really feel for my jedi-hopefull friends who are almost in tears now because this one simple change has probably ruined thier chance of becoming a jedi.

all good things come to an end...and hologrinding was far from being a good thing. if you did not do image designer before the patch, too bad...it was announced early, on test center for a while, and to find out all you had to do was either read the planned fixes/features and do it before they added these. you had almost a month from the time we found out we were getting a timer put on us, i think you could have gotten it done already...

jedi population is too full anyway, and 90% of them are worthless trash talking putzes to begin with. we dont need more of that.

Another sign that this game is more and more only considering powergamers. In this case "We must stop powergamers from mastering ID in 2 hrs then dropping it". I am, and always will be (as long as I put up with this) a casual gamer. It took me months to master Dancer and Musician, and now that I want to put the last 30 skill points or so in ID, on my 1-2 hrs every other day or so play style it will only happen if I do nothing but ID when I am on for the next 4-5 months. Is that fun? Plus people get to choose between me, who offers them a 2 minute wait minimum on everything, or the Master ID in the tent with me who can do their change instantaneously.

This is insane, and absolutely kills any interest in new people wanting to ID. Congrats Masters, you got ID in under the gun. Too bad I can't join you.

Are you going to fix the group mission payout bug we have had since this patch went live?

I'm a hologrinder, I admit. I already did my ID work, so the change doesn't affect me.

Well, ok, it does. I liked the profession enough that I was going to go back to it after I unlocked. Probably not now. I can do every other profession (with exceptions to bounty hunter for investigation, and merchant for pure time) but why should my ID training take as long as merchant now? I just think that the xp gain is too slow for so great of time. maybe I'm just not doing it right, but 100xp per 2.5 minutes just grates on my nerves.. even combat xp isn't that slow. I think unless this changes, they've killed the future of the profession, because no one is truly going to want to do the grind, and this my friends, is a true grind, one of the most unforgiving and boring out there as it stands, and I know that when I was a newb, I definitely didn't want to grind anything at all. But, now it's just insane... please reconsider, maybe a practice mode allowed for ID's where they don't change anything, get less xp than before (like maybe the xp that you got if you were your own clicker prepatch.. 12xp for eyecolor change, etc) we could live with that...it would still take a few days to pull it off, but not the weeks that it does now.

While I definitely agree, and most IDs agree that as it stands xp gain is way too slow and needs to be adjusted by either lowering the timers, granting you more xp, or giving you xp for each change you make, this is the worst excuse I have read for making a change. I'm all for adjusting the xp gain or removing the timers entirely, but not so more people can hologrind.

You do realize these changes were made specifically to stop the cheapening of this profession by high speed one day grinding. In fact, the Entertainer professions are among the ones most hurt, most impacted by hologrinders and the devs have stated repeatedly as of late that their goal is to stop afk macroing/grinding because it hurts the game.

Reduce the timers, remove the timers, boost the xp gain somehow, but do it because the profession needs it, not for the sake of people who don't even care about ID who just want to breeze through it and say goodbye so they can open up their Jedi slot. Right idea, wrong reason.

Maybe the in-game holocron shouldn't say without exception that AFK macroing is okay if it isn't. Or maybe it should be perfectly okay for all players in all professions unless and until that document says otherwise rather than the patchy enforcement of things like "The Jedi profession is supposed to be risky so youshouldn't macro it..." and "Forage doesn't grant XP because it's too easy to macro (like dancing or playing music or Meatlump-combat or healing)."

AFK macroing has been hurting the game since release and nothing has been done about it except to add the Holocron entry that says it's perfectly okay. Now is it or isn't it? Either prevent *everyone* from AFK grinding or prevent *no one* from AFK grinding.

This patch makes the rich richer, and the poor poorer, as almost every change in this game does. Because its the constant players, grinders, people with 4 accounts who get thier way. Never casual gamers, never casual roleplayers, never.

Someone with 2 accounts and no time isnt really effected by this at all, so a true GRINDER, is still fine. Someone like me, with one account, who works and goes to school, this isnt easy.

Why didnt i do ID first? sorry my life doesnt revolve around this game as much as i love it and i had no idea you could master ID in 45 minutes before the patch, i had no clue.

Other classes may take a while, but at least your doing something. with ID you stare blankly at your own character for hours and hours and hours clicking a few times every so often.

You dont make any money, you dont truly accomplish anything while doing it.

Grinding a combat class is quick, and easy and it gets you alot of money from missions, faction points if you want to go that way, hide and resources to sell, and sometimes cool loot.

I spent one night in the weapons facility, i met like 5 people, got over 3000 faction points, found 4 sith holocrons, and bumped off the inquisitor which felt like i really had accomplished something. All that in id say under 4 hours, not including the many many boxes of pistoleer i got.

And i still talk to some of those people still, when i have time to talk.

I spent i dont even know how many hours grinding out the entertainer tree of ID, and i got so sick i logged out and didnt want to play.

Its so bad it turns people away from the game, getting DE didnt even do that even when i found out how hard it was to be a DE.

2 things need to happen

1) it needs to go back to the way it was until the hero of tat quest is released.

2) after the hero of tat quest is released, timer needs to go down, or XP needs to go up., because its still ridiculous.

I don't think I can put it any better. While I think the revamp was a step in the right direction and love that this slows the hologrinders (no profession should be mastered in 6 hrs) the current xp/timer system stinks.Every other profession gains more xp as they climb through the skill trees. With the time increase on stat migration, the xp gain/time is no different than changing eye color. A skill a lvl 2 ID can do! If you hada plethora of willing victims one could conceivably master ID in 62 hours, more realisticly in 100. Mastering ID is now on par with mastering jedi. The time should be reduced as one climbs up the skill tree as well as an increase in xp. Additionally the xp should be stacked. It makes no sense that completely redesigning a character would net an aspiring master a paltry 600xp for 5or 10mins work. IDs should also be able to practice on themselves, maybe a practice station, or something not requiring the assistance of another player similar to the practice modes the crafters have.

Definitely one of the more poorly thought out revamps I've seen.

i'm sorry but i have to get my opinion of the timers off my chest.

Coming from an old school IDer (3rd master on shadowfire) i'm deeply hurt by the timer. The idea was grand but the implimitation is something far from grand. All this did was alienate our profession from the reaches of those that hope to one day be IDers. The timers now make ID the longest profession to master, as well as the most fustrating and unfullfilled (till you master it). There have always been a low number of master IDers on all servers, and now that will be even more so. And with the requirement of stat migration needing an IDer it's only made the prof more in demand. There are more jedi than MIDers, hell there are more master pikeman than IDers.

The fact of the matter is, those that holo grind ID to "get it out of the way" won't stay IDers. Only those that accually want to be an IDer will stay, and with the timers it just turns more of those peopleaway. I get more results grinding my jedi in a 2 hour session than i do with my IDer now. We can all agree with why it was placed (the timers) but those holo grinders (who was made by SOE's short sightedness in the first place) had more of an impact to the crafters economy than the IDers. I feel like we were burdened by being IDers with these changes than benefiting. Unfortunately i don't have a suggestion off the top of my head to replace the timers, but i would think once the path to being a jedi is replaced then the purpose of these timers will become null and void.

I apreciate the effort made to give IDers a cause to be, but i'm ashamed it was done in such a fashion. I would hope for more than another half effort attempt from such gifted developers. I'm sure time will tell, but if history shows us anything, i wouldn't hold my breath.

PS.... other than timers, i love what has been done so far. Don't get me wrong, i enjoy all the changes, good or bad.... some things are just, blah.

Ummm Guys? Why will ANYONE EVER go to anyone but a Master ID now? And considering you need ID xp to advance how will this NOT cut the throat of every Image Designer trying to be a master?
