Kwee do you agree that they should be for player cities?
Certainly, we've had two or three discussion threads on the topic recentlyWhether or not it will happen is up in the air. The devs have assured me they will be monitoring tent use, and I will be passing player feedback along.
Well Kwee, it's fairly obvious to me that the tents will be able to be placed by IDs since if you look carefully at the SS of the one in this thread, it has that characteristic non-static building foundation......... the one that allows for placing anywhere on the map by raising the floor up a meter or so........ and it's obviously placed out in the middle of nowhere.......... my question really was are these going to be placeable anywhere on the map or will they be restricted to player cities like the other 3 profession specific buildings?
I hope the latter, because, as I said, our player cities are in dire need of attention...
They may have the ability to be placed anywhere on the internal server(s) but the ones we are getting next week will not be player placeable.
They are also called Player Image Designer Tents................ as in Player Cantinas, Player Medical Centers and Player Theaters............. and as I said, they have the foundation for random placement which the static Tents do not...........
either way these should be player owned, no questions asked...

Donno... the dancers and musicians don't have machines for their special lighting effects and what not.
Thats true I never thought of it.. but maybe I never thought of it because entertainers dance and play musicinside a cantina (most of the time) and you imagine a cantina would have these sorts of things like stage lights and smoke machines, etc.
Im just giving my honest opinion and the first thing that came into my head when I saw that squll was: "Not Star Wars"
I don't think its all that star warsy either. Of course, I thought Jar Jar practically screamed "Not Star Wars" so who am I to say
I understand that ID's need something to make them better but some flashy things around ppls heads isn't going to make them all that much better. People will like it for a week and think its cool but it will soon turn into a boring annoying addition to the game. If you want to make ID's better make tattoos and scars and such.
To the person who said they aren't a proffesion. Well unfortunatly they are and they need some attention because of it. I personally have never used and ID and never will because i don't believe it adds anything to the game besides a way to change how you look. If you change how much muscle mass you have does it make you stronger?.. no. If they made it so if you have more muscle you have less flexablitly aka run slower, but you hit harder with a melee weapon then i would acknowledge ID's as being a prof.
As it stands right now the game is based around combat and if you don't see this then you must be blind. How is money made in the economy? Missions. What kind of missions? the best paying missions are destroy missions aka combat missions. Why do armorsmiths make armor? so that the combat profs have more protection when in combat. Why do weaponsmiths make weapons? so that the combat profs can kill. Why do musicians/dancers exist? to reduce mind wounds and battle fatigue of those who have been in combat. why do doctors exist? to buff those going into combat and to heal them when they need it. Why do combat medics exist? to aid other combat profs by having ranged and area heals and poisons and such that aid in combat. Um can we say there is a pattern here?
C'mon how many proffesions don't actually kill things and or aid in killing things? only 1 i can think of is ID.
So onto my point. Here the devs are with a clearly broken combat system with some clearly broken combat proffesions and they go ahead and add some flashy things above peoples heads. All i can say is What is going through thier heads.
WHOA! WAIT! Stop the tape!
Nobody said this was ALL we were getting. Bug fixes, colors, UI enhancers.. those are all in the works too. What I think we have here... is a few screenshots of the things that are TOTALLY new, and more importantly, an example of what the dev's meant by particle effects. I know up till now we had no clue what the effects looked like (hence any arguments to the effect that we 'pushed' for these not-so-currently-considered Star Warsy effects totally null. We were told they were boing put in. That's it. We jumped at new content, and had we seen beforehand what it was like I'm sure the current concerns would have been addressed well before now.)
So this isn't 'all' we're getting. It's just some of the major newer parts of it.
And, as nice as it is to get these pics, it is a little frustrating to have it happen this way. A few ideas for future work of this kind...
ONE: Releasing this information at (what looks to be) less than 48 hours before it goes to Test leaves no room for the community to debate the impact or implementation of the content. A lot of the current hubbub could have been avoided if we had only been allowed to point out problems beforehand to the dev's.
TWO: Not only were these pictures suddenly posted for us, but there was a link posted on the main site. Now, the ID forums are being flooded with people who would never be here, looking at some rather new and startling effects, of which we ourselves are just now seeing. They're assuming that the Image Designers asked for items such as these, and conclusions start rising that ID is trying to make the game less SW'sy. The result is the same as every red-name post with get, only tenfold: Lot's of trolls, flames, complaints, one-stars, and other forms of forum mayhem. Thanks for the pictures, but let us mull over them a bit before posting for the whole game to see...
On a final note, to any who think that personal hologram generators are NOT SW'sy. Consider these...
EU, Book series, Young Jedi Knights.. don't remember character or booknames, but a character in one ofthe books used a face-covering hologram and some prosthetics to coverup their identity.
See the funny thingI see here is, people are complaining about it not being STAR WARS OMG!@#!@#!@# The thing is this is a VIDEO GAME get with it.
I have no problem with these things, but I do have a problem with the fact that everyone is running around with the same 5-10 hairstyles, same facial tatts, same facial hair and so on and so on. So IMO this is something that should be added as a fun thing not something that you guys should base your allmighty ID revamp on. I mean seriously is this gonna help anyone? I WANT MORE HAIRSTYLES! and yes good ones not lame ones that you know nobody will use.
I scratch my head in the general direction of all the posters who talk as if this thread were the entire content for the ID revamp... The remarks before the picture made it clear that this is only a part of what is to be added with the revamp.
On the non-star wars note: No, it isn't Star Warsy, but the Image Designer is a part of the game regardless of what other people think and it deserves a share of developer attention. George Lucas regards the EU as an alternate version of Star Wars. I say to the developers run with it. The game won't ever reach its full potential unless they create brand new material for the universe.
