Bleh. Bad one, but I just have to get it off my chest. For those of you that didn't notice the change to my sig, I recently attained Master Tailor (yay!) which also means more customers. I love my customers—well, most of them—so I don't mind, but it does mean I can be busier at times. So here I am, working on a 76+Kcr set of enhanced clothes, with another customer waiting who also wants enhanced clothes, and I get a /tell asking for ID. It went something like this:

Him: I need a haircut.

Me: I'm in the middle of an outfit for a client. If you come to my shop I'll be able to help you in about 10 or 15 minutes.

Him: Okay

*prays to god she doesn't blow the spec-ops combine, those +4 melee/+17 stun tissues aren't cheap*

Him: R u there?

Me: Yes, but I'm still finishing up that tailoring order. Just a minute, please.

Him: Im at ur shop.

I'd like to pause here to say I should have just logged at this point. I should know better…but I'm an idiot. So I finished the clothing order and returned to my shop to deliver it to the customer. Having returned to the shop I asked the other tailoring customer if she wouldn't mind waiting just another minute while I give XXX a haircut. She very graciously agrees.

Him: Can I have a mohawk? Of hair?

Me: You're a Zabrak, so no. You can have long styles, topknot styles, ponytail styles, or horn styles.

Him: Offer me topknot.

Me: *offers*

Him: *timeout* Can u make it blond?

Me: Yes, but you need hair before I can recolor it. *offers again*

Him: Now u can make it blond?

Me: *offers blond*

Him: What else can u do?

At this point I /tell'd the tailoring customer, thanked her for her patience, and asked her to remind me to say I'd dropped ID when anyone else like this contacted me. She laughed.

Me: Pretty much everything in chargen.

Him: Can u do a little everything? I pay well.

Pay well. This is the guy who haggled with me when I told him I work for tips, and that whatever he felt was apropriate for my time would suffice. I sigh to myself and continue with the ID.

In the end, after much annoyance, I end up changing: hair style, hair color, horn color, tattoo style, tattoo color, nose protrusion, cheeks, jaw, and chin. Then he says "BRB." I apologize to my tailoring client again and begin discussing with her what exactly it is she wants, and which enhancements can go where for Wooks. (*sigh* poor Wooks…they really need some dev lovin')

I had expected to get stiffed, but I didn't. Kind of. ID client comes back from AFK and says:

Him: Did u get it?

Me: To be honest, I'm not sure. I didn't see a system message, and I have no idea what my accounts looked like beforehand.

Him: I sent u 2000 credits. If it's not enuff I send more.

Me: No, that's more than sufficient. Thank you. (/disband)

Found out shortly thereafter he'd pulled the same shtick on one of my business partners when she provided services as a dancer. This guy is now very much on my denial of service list.

My most recent was as the customer. I made a character, but the hairstyle I wanted for her was an Expert style. So I go to Theed and find an IDer and find out she only charges 1k for the change. I was shocked, having had a Hairstylist on another server(whose skills I had to drop..*sigh*But Master Entertainer/Dancer, going for Master Musician too, with some fighting skills...yeah, no room for ID ), and I usually see 5k+ for hair. Well, I have her show me two styles, the second to last one which is the one I had in mind, and the other one with the hair pulled back and a few strands over the face. I decided on the one I originally wanted, and paid her 2k, would have paid more if I'd had the cash. But then, another customer comes in, and asks to be made to look old. I was amused, as she sat there going through hairstyles and such, and I was standing there suggesting hairstyles as well, since I'd been an ID as I said before, and that was quite fun to watch.

I'm going to miss ID

Wow. Some amazing stories here. I just have to post.

Soo, the most interesting setup that ever happened to me was when a freind of mine's alt chara (A BE. The main chara is a Tailor.) Asked for a quick do' change. She (Nailin) told me pretty much exactly what she wanted, and then told me that her 'sister' (Tailin) would tip me. I am freinds with them both and told her not to worry about it. I logged off after that becuase I had to go... So when I log back on the next day, I have a mail: Tailin has tipped 500000 credits to your Bank. Nailin had used an ID job as an excuse to set me up for my Armorsmith Grind!

My OTHER story requires a little back-history. If you read my Bio in-game, it's all about my chosen ID profession. My history in an obscure sect of Alderaan practicing illegal forms of Genetic Engineering on humans, which serves as a basis for my ethos that a body is a work of art. I'm really proud of my Bio.

So I'm sitting at the Imperial Outpost on Dant, waiting for a shuttle, and I get the ever-dreaded "Cam u do hair" tell. I kick myself for it sometimes, but I pride myself for not ever denying service, even to the rudest of customers, nor do I ever ignore signs of potentially bad ID's.

So I /tell him back, "Yes, I can do hair."

So he /tell's me: "i got a freind who wants cool hair can u do it?"

So I say: Sure. Where is he?

(I sometimes boggle at some of you, who deny service, refuse to travel, and charge so much for such simple things. I mean, I can understand a little extra for a skin color change: I have to Muon or Fishak through those, and more often then not I end up belly-up in the dirt after a skin color job.. but 1k for hair someone said? Maybe that IS ludicrous... or maybe being tipped 500k ruined me. DANGIT! I feel so dirty!)

As it turns out, the person I'm supposed to go ID is in Coronet, which is where I'm headed anyway, so I of course have no problem meeting you, and yes I'll go to the Bank terminal to avoid Lag.

So I arrive at the pre-determined location and find standing there two people of quantatively different proportions. On the one side, I have a slightly pudgy Zabrak with a positively disgusting look to him. On the other, I have a well tailored Zabrak with handsome features. As I approach, the well-tailored Zabrak points to his fatter freind and says to me "thats my freind. u halp him?"

I group the pudgy Zabrak, and we get to work.

And this is the amazing part. The 'freind' turns out oto be his 'brother'. They are supposed to look very much the same but the pudgy one ((Who was totally playing off my Bio-Engineer family background)) explained that an accident with a clone facility had left him like he was, and could I please make him an exact clone of his 'brother'. He spoke in complete sentences, used proper emotes and was the most polite job I've ever done.

We finish and he tips me, a not overly generous but still decent tip, and we part ways. Three days later I'm telling a freind of mine about the job, and it turns out this freind is in the same guild as the two. Lo and Behold, apparently the two men were not 'brother's' but the SAME GUY, just alternate characters on seperate machines! And they talked and acted SO MUCH different! Sheesh.

Once again I am too long winded. Hehe...

Okay you guys, this is my first time posting anything so bare with me! hehe I was previously a BH but the investigation upset me...so I dropped it. I was currently working on CH and decided on Fencer as my "fighting" profession. Then I kept searching for another profession..and what do you know, I chose ID! hehe...Anyway...I only have 2-0-1-1 but I'm working my way up. Now for one of my funny stories. (Btw, everyone in this profession is awesome, you all are so nice and helpful!)

Customer: Hi, I need a new hairstyle, color, and eye color.

Me: I can't change a lot, but I'll try and help you out.

Customer: How much will it cost me?

Me: I just take tips, I'm only novice.

Customer: Great let's get started.

I sit there with her (human female, master pistoleer) and I won't go on about how time consuming some people can be because you all know lol. She just couldn't decide.... Eventually she did and we finished. She tipped me 3k which was totally fine because I don't have many skills. She was a very polite person up until this point...

Customer: I don't mind tipping you but another ID a few months ago charged me out the *edit.* How come you think you have the right to charge when you don't use resources or buy weapons?

Me: (Kind of ticked off) It's a PROFESSION just like pistoleer. You do missions, I change someones look. It's all a matter of clicking a mouse button.

Customer: Yeah whatever, I'd like to see YOU in a fight....

Me: (While I'm secretly LMAO)....Okay wanna duel?

Customer: LOL ARE YOU SERIOUS?!

Me: Um...YEAH

Customer: Okay....I'll DB you though.

What this girl obviously doesn't know (because I'm holding my weapon) is that a fencer is very fast lol...so we duel and I incap her in like 20 seconds. LOL She is calling me names and everything. I don't take it as a bad experience though...I think of it as freakin hilarious. I didn't DB her though...I probably should have but I hate the decay as much as anyone so ya know...Anyway...

Kwee, I read like everything you write to get ideas (as well as other people's) and you all have helped me with ideas and such so I thought I'd share my funny story as an ID starting out...hehe

Note: As background, and not to brag, I'm one of the most well known - if not the most well-known - ID's on my server, mainly because I've been a master since mid-July, and haven't dropped it.

Chat log still in front of me, but edited for length...

Customer: I hear you do image design

Me: yep

Customer: I want a face job

Me: OK <sends waypoint>

Customer: <just kinda sits there>

Me: Sooooo let's do your hair....

Customer: <rejects hairdo> I know kinda what to do... I can guide you that way if you wish.

Guide me?? Guide me??

Me: Oh, ok, do you want anything specific?

Customer: Can we do face first? Do you have that skill?

Ummm, you came in for a face job... and I said ok... hello??

Me: I've been a master since July. What do you want done.

Customer: Jaw max minus 2 clicks, Cheeks max minus 2 clicks

Me: ok.

Cheeks are already at max, I offer him minus 2.

Customer: Can i preview it

Me: Yes, there's a button for that, the change is very slight...

Offer times out. I offer again. He accepts.

Me: ok now jaw

Offer times out

Customer: eye one click and...

Me: offer timed out

Customer: oops

Accepts new offer

Me: What do you want with the eyes. I can't do eye shape because it is bugged.

Customer: Now do you have time for the eyes?

Me: sure, but not eye shape

Customer: kewl

Me: sooo what do you want done with the eyes?

Customer: Eye shape is what I think I need.

Customer: You don't have that skill?

Me: nobody does, it's a bug.

As I bang my head against a wall....

/cheer

This is my favorite thread.

I have an entertaining story now... a good one, actually. On my server I'm a member of a large imperial player city that houses three different guilds, and the whole city is very close. One in particular is a good friend of mine, we roleplay as brother and sister and have gotten very close outside the game as well. Well, when I met him last Octoberish, he was really NOT an attractive man. So after we got to know each other really well, I finally got him to let me sink my ID claws into his rather dowdy avatar. And he was THRILLED. He hasn't changed it since, except his hair color (he went gray after becoming our city mayor, said we did it to him LOL). And since then he's commented that I'm really good at what I do. Well, we recently had a new addition to our city, a very entertaining fellow who had a short, fat, pale character that ran around in hot pants and a chef's hat, and called himself "ZEH CHEF". However, he decided against being a chef, so last night he came to me for a makeover. I said sure. The best makeovers are the kind where I'm allowed to do anything I want, and this is what I got to do. So after I finally finished with him, he was so excited at his new look. He left, I logged out for a while, and when I came back in, the first thing I read in our city channel is:

"FUSCHIA! I LOOK EXACTLY LIKE CERVEN!" (Cerven being my 'brother'.)

I was highly entertained... he has the same hairstyle, and he's a very attractive man now, but he doesn't look EXACTLY like him. However, I'm going to change his hairstyle tonight so he feels different. Maybe I'll give him my fiancee's hairstyle...... *evil laugh*

I just love this profession.

What a night, two "I want #XX hair style" (I hate those) one 2k tip one 50 credit tip and /disband without even a thank you. But the best was a guy thatwould not answerquestions on how he wanted it, refusedevery hair styles and then said "never mind" and as I was typing a reply to tell him about the site to seeallthe styleshe ask for 500 credits!!!!

So if you have a black ball list for kettemoor add "erek" and "Rooin" to it . Right now I hope we get a Major function and a overkillXP fix. Mahahahaha

Wellrecently I've been taking tips (instead of using my price plan) just to see if anything has changed... Well my tips have ranged from 500k to 2k for the most part... With the 2k tippers giving the impression they feel that is a very over the top tip. So really I can't say I've been convinced tipping is the better way as even with my set prices I often get tipped over and above what I ask for, and I have a guaranteed minimum.

Anyway the other night I was running through the Coronet starport and got four requests for ID within ten feet... Which let me mention is unusual for me for running around a big city. I've seen a big decrease in drive by ID requestsover the past several months.

So it's a guy with that hairstyle that's just one strand of hair going down to a braid... First he asks for a "Mohecan" hairstyle. So I'm thinking of the movie, and ask if he means a Mohican hairstyle... Well he doesn't say anything so I offer a very long Daniel Day Lewis-ish style. He refuses it and says no he wants crazy punk hair. So finally I figure out he's just butchered the spelling of mohawk. I offer the biggest one and he accepts. Then he turns around like he's going off. And I got mad. I hadn't gotten stiffed since shortly after launch (when I took up my price list) and I was so tired of hearing stories of people telling ID'ers they didn't deserve payment.

So I say, "Oh no you don't, where's my compensation."

Lol, I told my hubby who was horrified. He didn't think it was proper to ask forpayment when you hadn't said you charge. My argument of course was that people should assume you want to be paid for your time So what do you all think? Terrible social faux pas?

Anyway the poor guy wasabashed and said:

"ohh how much sorry?"

And I decided to use the line someone posted recently (MU, Syzygy?) about whatever they feel is appropriate for my time would be fine...

He then told me:

"never had ma hair done b4. 500 ok."

And I again said about how anything he felt was appropriate was fine. He tipped me the 500 and said "buy" and was off.

My next customer I picked out myself. He had a neon yellow beard and darker hair and I offered to fix his beard color for free, right when he sent me a tell asking me to remove it altogether. So I did that and when he asked what I'd like to be paid I said no charge since I picked him out... He still tipped me 1 or 2k, which I thought was sweet.

The third customer needed some lekku customizations done. Pattern, though he didn't like the vertical ones I had, and that's what he was considering... Color, and position. He tipped 10k

The fourth one never contacted me again after I said I was working on someone...

Anyway that was my experience running through a room of the Coronet starport

When it gets close to getting the revamp/functions I think we should make a bad customer list, and to be truly vengeful. We shouldin-game email them letting them know Mahahahaha ......... Yes Sir_Voor has a dark side

That's really not a bad idea... I've lost touch with a lot of my server's ID's (I don't even know who still plays anymore) but I used to send out emails of names if I got harassed by a real doozy.
