Thread: ID State of the Profession

3. I don't like the massage concept for image designers. It lends the image designer a seedier, more risqueprofile. Intimate touching like that, should not be something an image designer should have to do, and you know they'd end up having lots of requests for that just because of the implications. (hehe sorry) The concept is good, just not very Star Wars-y.

I hate to complain about this game, so many people do already...but the issue with image designers doing stat mig is really ridiculous.
Ok..... you are just realizing this now?
The title of the profession itself says what we have to do: design the IMAGE of the players, not their physiology, are we advanced medics, or what??
I'm going with "or what" here. Honestly, it was the devs attempting to give us a role in the GCW.
I think it's also dangerous for the balance of the game, because everybody complains now about the 10 mins long time to adjust and the high cost, that it will decrease certainly in the near future. And then we'll have ID'`s as part of the hunting group, that will change the stats every 5 mins, for the perfect attack: Honey,i wanna make a head shot, please increase my Mind....
You KNOW this cannot happen because we need to be in tents to migrate stats.
Please bring back the old system, the new puts the ID in a role thats simply not theirs, and makes the game too easy!
How does this make the game "too easy"? I am trying to figure this out. Is it because of the instantaneous migration? And if so, why is that "too easy"?
Also it is completely illogical that a character can change his complete being in "only" 10 mins. To this date we had the illusion that the character was doing some training in the 24 hours we had to wait...
This isn't training. /shrug
ID's should have more tattoos, hairstyles, piercings and they should have the possibility to design these things themself also!
Yes, yes, yes, no. Having new things would be great, but designing them ourselves would lag the game more. Theed and Coronet are bad enough, so let's not add more issues.

4.Exp progression issues
a.More exp granted per change
b.Less exp needed per skillbox
c.A way for exp to stack for customer workI'm not sure how to put this in only a few words, but the fact that exp pre-ID does not increase as you get more boxs, like it did or like it does in all other professions needs to be stated. He means that the abilities you recieve in higheron the treeboxes in *every* other profession grant more XP.Examples:- UnarmedCombo2 does more damage, and grants more XP in afixed unittime than UnarmedCombo1, because it's higher on the tree.- Making Type III deflectors grants more XP than Type I Deflectors.- Dancing with Exotic3 gives you much more Dancing XP than Footloose does. The more skilled you are, the more XP you earn, but this is not true for us. We earn the same XP/minute at 'Entertainer:ImageDesign II' as we do right up to Master Image Design. There's no 'ramp' or increase to our XP.My suggested fix would be multiplying the XP you get for Body changes by your current Body-form skill mod, or the XP given for a hair change byyourHair-Styling skill mod. That would give those mods some meaning. Currently, our mods do nothing and make no sense.
Just to be devils advocate - BE has the same problem - essentially the same item throughout the crafting process. However I do agree that at least 1 more step up in ID XP would be nice.
To me the timers and the Stat migration are my biggest issues and should be the priority IMO because they take too much away from the enjoyment of it. I'd 'gain' more enjoyment by these being changes than more artwork (although more artwork is a definate close 3rd). I'd like to see medic style timers bit with an onscreen display. Client and customer are 'freed' as soon as the job is finished but the ID can't start the next session until the timer clears and stat migrations don't shift until the timer go's. Customer has a timer too stating that there are x mins to stat migration completion and the ID has a similar confirmaiton - to avoid the problem dancers/musicians have with buffs where they can't see what they gave the customer. Normal ID changes would be instant for the customer but the ID would have to wait for the timer to complete - this generally wouldn't be long though due to the shorter timers are normal ID stuff.
Now I wanted to be an ID, well, because I was already going for Dancer and didn't want to do any combat profs. Since I didn't have an alt, it took me a week of IDing myself or very nice other people since it's 400k xp to get to MID.
I would love to see the timer for stat migrations go away for MID's. If not go away all together, why not down to 5 minutes? What I said at once point in the game is this - it now takes only 5 minutes to travel the galaxy with the new starships times, but it takes 10 minutes to migrate your stats? That just seems a little stupid to me. Also, I think it would be great for MID's to be able to migrate their own stats. I had bought some new composite armor (I don't fight, it just looks so cool!) and I was lucky and found a willing NID to migrate me (took 4 migrations to get the best settings).
Second, I read on a different thread about the placing of salons in more places than the current locations and that it would decrease demand or something. While I understand that, I happen to live in a busy town on Tat called Helios. I would like nothing more than to (if not have a public salon) at least have a room of my house act as one. It is very frustrating to have to travel half way across the galaxy because you want to migrate you stats or something.
Third, I have gotten countless humans who wanted tatoos. They know that they are possible, just not that they are only for Zabraks. Why not letting humans have some at least basic tatoos? I know that a lot of people would like this. Also, a lot of Zabraks would love to be able to choose a horn and hair pattern seperately instead of having them be one style. Many want the hair, but consequently don't like the horn pattern and just scrap that part of the session.
Fourth, I agree with someone who said to make the user unclothed during the session. While I like this, I think that we should just make the window update with whatever they are actually wearing in real-time. I have gotten a lot of people who wanted their haircut or whatever to match either their armor or other clothes.
Well, that's just my two-cents.

Well, that wouldn't be a bad thing really, but it would cause a lot of business to shift only to MID's because of the timer decrease. Novices will then take that much longer to get the master title, and, if ID is their primary profession for cash, their bank accounts will take a big hit too. And Masters, can you just hear it now?
"Hey u give me stat mig?" X-player tells you.
"No, I'm busy right now doing (insert reason for not giving stat migration here)" you tell X-Player.
"common I need stat mig! y won''t u?!11!" X-player tells you
"Isn't there a Novice in the tent that can help you? They need that exp more than I do." you tell X-player
"yes, but I don't want 2 wait tat long! u do it in 5 mintues!!" X-player tells you. "I don't want 2 wait 10 minites!!11!"
If they do a decrease on the timers, Novices should get it also.
I agree, it would be very bad for those trying to gain ID exp if only Masters got a stat migration decrease. I hope we can get a reduction across the board one day. The thing is it might be accompanied by an exp decrease, would that be a bad thing? Customers aren't limitless.
