let me just rebute by saying there are many people who would love to have certain additions or features or enviroments in this game that George Lucas would never approve of. Just because the community *wants* something doesnt mean it should be added. It's the difference between a starwars based game and a community/customer based game. Sadly I see less starwars than there should be. If everyone wants feature A or content B then heck lets add it and just call this another cookie-cutter MMORPG instead of a Star Wars MMORPG. I wouldnt mind that, but while this game still has Star Wars on it, I will continue to push for more starwars features for as long as i pay the $15/month to play this game.

Sadly alot of people have only watched the movies and never took the plung into the multitude of books, comics and other official sources for the star wars universe. There are many things in the books and comics (official) that you would have never thought would have ever happened in the Star wars universe. Chefs, repairmen, hunters and jedi...sometimes doing normal things, sometimes not. Dancers and musicians getting into trouble...breaking a contract. Bounty hunters with humor.

For example...the exotic entertainers guild...a consolidated group of dancers, consorts, and prostitutes which provides support when interfacing with crimelords and businessmen...first talked about in the "shadows of the empire"

Or Brin'shak, a Twi'leki "talent scout" provided a group of Twi'lek female dancers to Durga the Hutt for his entertainment. Talked about in the comic book "tales from the new republic."

are you saying that these new features have already been "created" in EU? (i dont think so) or are you saying that because the EU can extend the starwars story, why cant a game?

the 2nd is what i think you are arguing, so in that case, why not add shamans, wizards, blackhelecopters, and firebreathing dragons to this game? why not modern weapons or 60's style clothing? hmm? Just because they arnt in the movies doesnt mean they dont exist in the star wars universe right?

I am saying be realistic...but talking about a unreal science-fiction world it would be hard to do that. Anything that the Dev's come out with to a degree can be explained away given a good writer or imagination.

Give it a break...lots of people here sound like the Star Trekfans who know the nuts and bolts of Enterprise. (a ship that never existed.) There is a base cannon in the Star Wars Universe. (Just like Star Trek.) This cannon can be worked on, expaned and re-tooled to fit the story line but with limitations.

There is a base Continuity that worlds like Star Wars work on. Lots of times writers branch out from this and create their own sub-plots, heroes and histories. Similar to Kyle katarn, A jedi first metioned in a book then in a computer game. He was a jedi that existed during the first death star era. (thought luke was the only one?)

So in essence what i am saying iswhy cant there be slug throwing weapons? What if a rebel pilot runs across a backwater planet. Why cant there be some magic or shamans? The Dathmore witches were considered witches and magic users by some of the natives of the planet. Dragons? Im sure on some planet there is an alien creature that resembles it. 80's clothes? Did you see the scene in ep2 in the city cantina? sure looked like 80's clothes to me...but that is opinion.

We could sit there and explain that the new emotes are created by a device. Great. Sure. Simple wasnt it. Its a device. What is the problem?

I'm not sure how holo-emotes are any less star warsy than the light shows and what not that musicians and dancers do.
I for one, am looking forward to something different.

I wonder if the devs would look at combat professions more if there weren't so many players crying like little b.. children with skinned knees every time another group of players (who pay the exact same monthly subsription) get a little lovin.

Kwee do you agree that they should be for player cities?

Certainly, we've had two or three discussion threads on the topic recently Whether or not it will happen is up in the air. The devs have assured me they will be monitoring tent use, and I will be passing player feedback along.

Well Kwee, it's fairly obvious to me that the tents will be able to be placed by IDs since if you look carefully at the SS of the one in this thread, it has that characteristic non-static building foundation......... the one that allows for placing anywhere on the map by raising the floor up a meter or so........ and it's obviously placed out in the middle of nowhere.......... my question really was are these going to be placeable anywhere on the map or will they be restricted to player cities like the other 3 profession specific buildings?

I hope the latter, because, as I said, our player cities are in dire need of attention...

Well, technicaly you are a profession, but really dont contribute anything other than RPing, which is fine, but this game is more combat/mission based than Arpie based...if they gave some neat buff system for players it would be a differnt story...

And yes I do blame you guys as I sure it was you, and your Correspodnet(s) that pusehed to the devs you want xxx changes..

and no I don't count ID as a real profession, its my opinion...

A real profession to me is one that I have to rely on for xxx, I have never had to do anything with an ID, everyother profession I have relied on at some point or antoher...

Guess you missed the RPG part of MMORPG. BTW I'm not an ID (as you could tell if you read my sig), but I'm not someone who would rather haveSWG a brainless FPS and will go around bashing other ppl's professions just because you don't get it.

Yes Im uber l337...RPG doesnt mean what it use to...listen all Im saying is this was a huge wsate of resources on SOE's part...

Im not bashing anyones professions either, I happen to have an opinion on ID's as a necesity to the game, in fact they are not...the are a very cool idea and if Im not mistaken the first of its kinda in online gameing...

They are not necesarry, they are more of a "hey this is a damn neat feature"....to me something that is a damn neat feature takes a back seat to the overall playblity of the game..

Its amazing you make statements like "you're not a real profession" and "I blame the IDs for the dev's wasting time" and yet you can say 'I'm not bashing anyones profession".

well, at least you make it plain for all to see how you'll say one thing and then deny it a few posts later. you in politics by any chance?

Hmm after reading all the posts i can see the good side to this "holo" hat thingie and the bad things about it.

New art! Itmakes ID'ers and anyone who likes swg art happy BUT...seriously will these "holo" things just be projected from a person's skull? If SOE adds this in they have to have an explanation of how a cat or skull holo gets over someone's head. It has to tie into the continuity.Like a belt, or something. Headband maybe? i dont know, but they need some sort of explanation. I can see why some people are upset, but you have to take another approach at the SW universe. Is the SW universe all war? Remember the galaxy is a big big place, and renember, the movies arent the WHOLE galaxy. New things can be introduced. Put yourself into the SW universe, are you telling me there would be no hairdressers? Make up artists or anything to do with that? Of course their would be. Now put 2 and 2 together. In the movies you see holo projections and stuff. Add that with the ID proffessionand you get projections that can float around your body. Why not? its artistic and there are artistic people in the SW universe. Anyway overall im happy with this, but like i said i do want an explanation for "continuity" purposes of how these holos get over your head. I still wish we were getting new hairs, some of the hairs are just awful...but thats another story hehe .

They aren't going to be placable when the mini publish comes out, it may change, but the devs are only having them in five static cities.
