Wow just imagin how bitterly these trolls will complain to whichever profession gets to make spacecraft.
There again you will have one profession totally in charge of your ability to play in space, Who you can count on will charge hundreds of k to millions per ship.
I'm really having a hard time seeing what the big deal is here, there are alot of professions who charge a decent amount for you to get an item only they can make.
Swoop (we all have them) 20-25k
Decent gun 25-100k
Armor per set 25k-500k
Those are all semi permanent things most of us need that are charged a hefty price for, that they make a good profit on.
I won't be charging 50k for a stat change, but I will be charging 20-25k unless it's a noob.
And once the holo grind is over when people make a change in their stats , for the most part it will last them a long time.
People will have no problem paying my 25k for a stat change. I was at geo cave last night and people (including me)were paying 20k per rez and 20k per buff, and they were crappy buffs too.
That's not the point. The "shipwright" is a profession, so yes we will be dependant on them to play in space. I have no problems with that. I have no problems depending on AS making my armor or WS making my weapons. I do, however, have a problem with an ID having control over MY stats.
I've posted this before and I'll post it again. SWG does not have any way of gaining more "core hitpoints" then what you start out with or can have depending on your race. So to adjust your stats to your particular profession, you must use the stat migration option. Stat migration is a good solution to the above mentioned statement because it would be impossible to gain hit points as you went up in levels due to the game having so many profession choices.
But by giving ID's the sole control over the ONLY way to permenatly increase your stats, you've made the process much more difficult for any one player to make his character "better". The main reason being there aren't too many Master ID's around. And even if there were, they should not have the sole abilty to migrate stats.
Give them the option they wanted in the first place, that being the abiltiy to hasten the process, but leave the option of waiting a few days for the migration to take place open to EVERY PLAYER in the game.

Migrating your stats doen't require a Master, just a Novice ID at 0-0-0-0. Those arn't too difficult to find I think. It took me about a week of casual play to grind up to that point, and the 8.1 update was over two weeks ago now. Just clarifying a point there.
I still stand by my stance that there could have been a less painful way to go about implimenting the whole thing. The process varies between animated for those who want something else but don't know what and mind numbingly dull for those who don't want to interact.
I think anothere 'time' factor is the time we sometimes waste standing in the tents. Today for instance, I stood there for 20 minutes before anyone showed up. I find that if I am playing my combat characters I am always busy. Same with my crafters. Always busy with something. But if you are an ID, and have no crafting ability (like Chiaa), then you are doing alot of nothing. I am basically tied to that tent, which isn't the most exciting place.
How many Image design sessions can you do at the same time?
The answer my friends 1 session only.
And although you can make numerous changes to your customer at one time, you only get xp for the first change you do, or the highest xp awarded change you do. What this means IDs are not rewarded very well in xp. This would be like a combat char getting a mission to destroy a lair but only getting the xp for first creature you killed at the lair. Would destroying this lair be worth it if you might get only 500 credits for destroying the lair. Probably not.
This is the situation ID face.
