Thread: Image Designer customer stories please share :)
More??
I haven't had anything interesting happen lately, other than a disturbing increase in the number of dood typescontacting me for ID, and more often lately for the exploits
You know it's not going to be pretty when the first tell you get is:
"Wehre are you?"
Not even a"Hi?"
I mean the hello is a little goofy since you have to say it to find out if someone is online (why can't we have a galaxy wide /who?)but it's better than nothing ![]()
I would pay good money for an /anon feature where you *didn't* show up on friends lists.
Well, I've decided to share since I had an experience yesterday worth sharing. ![]()
I'm purchasing some new armor (Ubese gloves/boots/bracers and a composite helm
) from one Castigar Black, who is a great armorsmith and who I recommend wholeheartedly. He doesn't add the surcharge and asks me if instead...
I will make him into Santa.
Apparently he wants to get into the holiday spirit.
So, after taking down his current values,I go to work. Beard, hair, cheeks, eyes, chin, jaw, weight, muscle, skin color, height, torso, eye color, eye shape, ears... the whole nine yards.
Pretty soon I have transformed a rather handsome man into Saint Nick.
He's now looking for a Master Tailor to complete the suit, and I've asked him to send me a screencap when he's got it. I'll post before and after pics here. ![]()
Im in Theed working on Dancing Xp. We have a guy outside surveying for radioactive and a combat medic diseasing minds... the healing xp is rolling in. A guy walks in wearing full composite armor.....
Guy taps you on the shoulder
Guy- Can you make me look handsome?
Me- I'll try /wink
Guy- k, how much?
Me- Whatever, just tip what you want,
Guy- cool.
Me- I need you to take off that helmet so i can actually see you.
Guy if i take off the helmet i cant put it back on. I put it on when i was buffed and my buff wore off but i can still wear it.
Me- Not sure how i can make you look handsome if i dont know what you look like now hun
Guy- well just change some stuff, change anything
So, i move some sliders back and forth, change some eye color and give him some new horns, skin color and tatoo color. I make him just a tad taller with a bit more weight (why does everyone always set weight to 0 at creation?).
Me- well... i changed stuff... /giggle
Guy- GREAT!
He tips me... drum roll..... 100k for my time. Two days later he sends me a tell "Hey! I had to take off that armor and wow! i look awesome!"
I had no clue what i did to the guy (for the most part anyway) but he was happy ![]()
Hehe I had a customer like that today, a Starsider Jedi who I guess regretted making himself a zabrak because he wanted his tattoos and horns removed. Unfortunately he also had his armor perma stuck to his body for lack-of-buff reasons. Must make certain things in life...difficult...hmm. Anyway, tattoos I could thankfully do without seeing his head. Horn removal I told him was an exploit which he was disappointed to hear. Then he decided he wanted a new horn style, did I have any pictures? Now the right thing to do would be to lure him to Warcry by giving him the address to my hairstyle pictures...but Pani's site is way too delicious, so I sent him there

LOLOL Some of these stories crack me up! I love this thread!
I gave up doing ID publicly for a while, but I still have a few regulars who always come to me for makeovers. One of them in particular is a human male, who I don't particularly like to workon because he is constantly hitting on me. So anyway, he comes to me one day and says that he needs something different. His traditional look is very dark skin, white single braid, and white goatee, so he tells me he wants to be light skinned for a while. I say okay, and get to work. A little while later I've changed his skin color, eye color, hair color and style, beard color and style, and a couple of other things. He seems pleased, tips me his usual - 10k - and I go on my merry way.
The next day, I log into the cantina and see him dart across the room, looking exactly the way he had before I changed him. LOL I know "For a while" is an indeterminate amount of time, but I figured it would at least be longer than 24 hours.
Okay, got one that I'm not sure how to feel about…see what you gals and guys think.
On my way from Dantooine to Naboo I made a brief stop in Coronet to check the bazaar for somethingorother. As I'm leaving the starport (in the final halway, in fact) I hear someone say "Hey! Image designer!" Now, I don't put up with this sort of crap in real life, I'm certainly not going to do it in a game.
Me: "I have a name." (ignores player until he apologizes and addresses me by name) "Much better. Now what can I do for you?"
Him: "I want my tattoo colors changed. To red, like yours, but darker." (gives player one shade darker than the tats I have, which are the brightest red—a perfect match for my red-with-black-trim Grand Healer's Robe
) "No, that's not quite it." (gives player one shade darker than that) "No, brighter"
Me: "There's nothing between those two shades—it's one or the other."
Him: "I want like yours." (sighs, wonders why he said darker in the first place if he wanted my coloration…) "Yeah, that's it. Can you make my eyes yellow?"
Me: "I've got a yellowey-orangey I can show you, but no straight yellow." (shows him lightest tone, he asks for darker, show him darker, he asks for the lighter one back)
Him: "Great, now can you change my hair?"
At this point I'm wary—he has a cross-species hairdo, so I warn him I can't give him a different cross-species 'do, nor can I restore his current if he takes a change. He explains he wants the color, not the style, changed…again, why didn't you say so?
Me: "Color changes aren't always predictable for cross-species changes, but I'll see what I can do." (commits darkest red available)
Him: "Perfect." (tips me 5000)
So here's my quandry. The tip was fairly generous for as little time as I actually spent on him. But he started off on the wrong foot by not calling me by name. He made it worse by requesting I remove my hood and claiming I was hiding (yeah, 'cause I wear the Grand Healer's Robe to hide—and I can take the hood off whenever I want…) My guess is he didn't expect me to have another outfit macro'd and wanted a free show, as it were. I can't be sure of that, though. What do you think? Bad experience? Minor annoyance?
I can't abide idiots, and it sounds to me like you got a doozy. First of all, no client - no other PLAYER for that matter - has the right to tell me what to wear and how to dress. If they don't like what I'm wearing, tough, they can find someone else to look at. And why does it matter if they can't see your face or whatever? YOU'RE not the one being changed!
*mutters something snide under breath about prepubescents being allowed to play the game*
Syzygy,
I assume the best in people,
A lot of RPers don't like to use names until you are introduced, which could explain the "Hey! Image designer!". And he could have had his personal light (Ctrl+L) on, which could explain the shade issue.
Question: Did RP the request for your hood removeal? Like saying "Let me see the face of the person I'm delling with"
Heeasly could have been RPing or just annoying ![]()
I woulda slapped the guy, but I am notorious as the cantina b****. ![]()
I've had my fair share of the clueless customers, but I recently got a nice surprise from one of the nice ones.
I was on Corellia when I got a /tell from someone asking if I could help his friend, who was new to the game and didn't like how her character had turned out. I replied, "Certainly! Where are you?" They were on Naboo, so I offered to fly over there. He asked my price, and I told him, but added that since his friend was new, I would only charge $X amount. He was surprised that I was willing to fly to them, AND give her a discount. Anyway, I made it to Keren, and met him in the cantina. He said his friend was running a mission, and was having difficulty getting used to the commands and such, so it was taking a long time. I wasn't in a hurry, and he was being very nice, so I waited. After about 15 mins or so, the girl shows up. She didn't quite know what she wanted, so I directed her to Pani's site (I LOVE that site). She took another few minutes deciding, I did the changes she wanted, and she paid me, and I flew back to Corellia. Pretty regular job. This was about a month ago, I think.
The surprise comes yesterday when I was browsing the forums and came across a post from the girl's friend, saying how nice I had been to wait all that time, and to not charge her a lot.
Really made my day!

Earlier in the thread I mentioned the Starsider Jedi I ID'd. It turned out his main character was an acquaintance of mine and so I asked if he'd be willing to do a goofy fake Jedi interview for my column and get his picture taken in one of my salon chairs. It's really long so if anyone is up to reading it, please click on the "Gamer Girl" column link in my sig. If it's no longer the latest one, the link to it will be at the bottom of whatever column is up. It was a lot of fun ![]()
