Fuschia's existence came into being because I wanted hair. LOL I loved my twi, but I got tired of not being able to have hair, and I just think humans are pretty. So I got another account. Of course, now I've sort of switched sides on the whole twi/human thing. Ava's much hotter than Fuschia now.

I got an answer from the devs about this:

"The GameSpy article posted incorrect information. You will NOT be able to change species. Image Designers will NOT have this ability."
This info came to us from Producer, Dallas Dickinson.

I think this clears it up for us.
It might be inconvenient for many of us, who are now stuck with our species choices, but I personally welcome this decission.

Good call for them. A one time change might not have been a bad thing, but since LucasArts has been so adamant about species/gender changes never, ever happening I am glad to see them sticking with it.

I think Gamespy either misunderstood something about the respec or they had to "simplify" there article to fit in the space they planned for it.

Either way, such things happen alot and this is again a good example to think twice about what you write and double-check on your sources of information. A lot of readers of this article were a bit confused about it and that's not only IDs as I heard from a trustworthy source.

Oh and Fushia: Sorry to read you are no longer ID, but as long as you have fun, I'm happy, too

I know exactly what you mean, Fushia I might not be playing my ID(s) all the time, but don't playing them at all... nah, I couldn't do that either.

I'd love to see a one time racial respec, especially since they are changing racial bonuses and such. Maybe there'd be a few more of the rarer species out there if they did.

Changing races/gender wouldn't be that hard of a change. Things like armour slots and racial bonuses have nothing to do with the database outside of your character. Your race doesn't make any impact on items you own. If you were a human and you change to trandoshan then you now can't wear those boots you used to own, it does not affect the boots at all, they are unchanged, only you have changed. Your racial bonuses and stats would change once, but again that would only affect your toon from there on out. Your items would be unchanged and nothing else anywhere would have to be looked over or changed.

Two things might pose a problem that I can see though. One is wearing boots/gloves and changing to a race like trandoshan. That could cause a few glitches and bugs. All they would need to do is require you to be naked to change races.
And second would be changing to and from being a wookie. Any character with a last name would have to have it removed and also you'd end up with lots of oddly named people (though naming is already a huge problem so whatever I guess).

Which brings us to the naming thing. Either they do link last names to items and characters invisibly, or someone is pulling our chains and being lazy.
Your character is indentified by your first name only, last name doesn't affect anything. You send someone a tell by their first name only, email by first name only, crafted items first name only, addfriends first name only, and even addfriends from other galaxies by galaxy then FIRST NAME ONLY.
If you want more proof of this go to another galaxy and find someone.. anyone, just remember thier first name. Now try to make a guy with that name on that server, see what happens? It tells you someone else has that name and first names need to be unique. Last names don't mean a thing.

So unless someone has more info on that I don't see any reason they can't allow last name changes.

Fuschia, you're dropping ID?!

Not dropping. Dropped. Fuschia is no longer an entertainer of any sort. She's doing pistoleer/combat medic. I recently got a memory upgrade, and I'm going to start PvPing again (once I can learn to not die repeatedly). However, I'm dropping a few boxes of dancer on Ava so I can make her a master ID. In the grand scheme of things, ID > dancer to me. Especially since the performing entertainer professions are getting reamed.

I'm doing a similar template on my Starsider Tailor/ID now that 1) we get 16 extra points and 2) I want to take a break from running a shop so I am dropping merchant. It's a good template now, considering that the master boxes of dancer and musician are sorta meh, and I can be perfectly happy with some sort of partial ent template. My Scylla Tailor/ID is master entertainer with some music so I might go dance on my Starsider Tailor/ID.

By the way, the next person that tells me that I'm only making a combat toon because the CU leaves me no choice, I'm going to deck them.

one day, in a lab accident no less, i made a moncal. although he was technically an accident he became my main. previously, before he grew on me, i would have changed him into a human if it was possible but like i said he soon grew on me and became my main and my most developed character.

if we indeed do get to change, i doubt many would change. the less devoted of course are always the fickle ones but the majority of us i foresee sticking it out. after all, we have stuck it out this long havent we?

I am curious.. now that another feature has been taken away from our profession, are they planning on adding any new features that will enhance our experience as an ID? If not, I will sadly be dropping out of this profession, as business has already been floundering. *sigh*
