Thread: State of the Profession: Image Design
Note that these have been added on Test Center. We should see them in the next publish. - Kwee

Those were also in the list that Ood_Bnar posted a while back, where he mentioned that they were added to the list of issues.
Also, more than one or twolist ofissues has been submitted to the developers. I've been working with Keldarin to try and get the issue with cross-species hairstyles fixed. I've also stressed the default hair color bug several times on the correspondant forums, in an attempt to get it fixed as soon as possible.

That is one of the things I am waiting on with the developers right now. The "State of the profession" thread for Image Design was submitted on the correspondant forums several days ago (original draft was submitted on October 30th).
But I have to wait for it to go through them, before it can be posted here.

The entire purpose of posting a State of the Profession thread, was to encourage discussion, before the list was sent to the developers. That is how Thunderheart explained it on the correspondant forums.
Writing up a rough draft, to be approved by the image designers, to be approved by the developers, to AGAIN be approved by the image designers, just to go BACK to the developers for the final bug fix is a bit... excessive.
What was submitted on October 30th if this is the rough draft?

You've said it the besti think, and im sure most of us are thinking the exact same thing. Just you got to say it first.

While I agree with your essential position, MoonLilly, I can't agree with your presentation, because at this point, confrontation isn't going to help our profession or advance any changes or fulfill any wishes. Confronting and conflicting with the correspondent is itself a tangential process. If you wish to replace the correspondent, then badger Thunderheart about it. He has the power to change it, though I'm sure he doesn't relish the idea of stepping into the middle of a political situation. Rilawyn obviously doesn't care to address the issue, hoping it will go away; I have yet to see her take up the gauntlet that you repeatedly hurl down.
I do not begrudge her the desire to play another character with different skills. I have alts for that. One is going for commando, one for musician, one for combat medic. They give me a different flavor of the game to enjoy. Rilawyn deserves no less simply because she has a responsibility here (as long as she continues to fulfill it, which I agree that so far she has not done in any visible way). And if she values her colleagues in the profession she should have the decency to turn over the reins to a correspondent with energy and board presence (which I agree she also has not done).
I can understand how she can be frustrated with the profession because, after all, she has been dealing with the same bugs and lack of content we have all faced since launch and before in beta. It might seem to her as if all the issues were talked out in July and August and no significant change has yet been made to warrant churning up our forum. Surely all of our bugs and desires are well-known, even though the lists compiled of them are stale.
At any rate, I'm not surprised that you're upset, MoonLilly, but getting upset at Rilawyn and trying to provoke her into a response isn't going to generate the kind of change our profession needs. You'll dissipate your energy into a flamewar that is essentially misdirected. Channel your energy into requesting a correspondent change from someone with the power to do it. Don't waste keystrokes trying to get Rilawyn to budge. We've spent months and more without her lifting a finger or bestirring herself to post a message on our forum, why bother to try to get her to respond now? She has shown the temerity to stick it out with the once-failed correspondent program in the foolish hope that it would someday be useful: and now that temerity (or stubbornness) is being rewarded. She's certainly capable of outlasting your protests as long as you're aiming them at the wrong person.

Well FishWan, I would have to disagree with your quote. In fact, it was our correspondent who has repeatedly thrown the gauntlet, even though she is trying hard not to become too blunt about it. The first slap in the face for the image designers on this forum was her post on her guild's board, where she stated that she was actively playing another character because she didn't want to drop the ID skills on her old toon as she would lose the ID correspondent title if she did. The second time she threw the gauntlet was when she had the impudence to post a very doubtful"I'm still here" thread after she had been absent for *months*. The third time she threw the gauntlet was when shecompletely ignored all reasoning and all our posts in the discussion thread that dealt with getting a new correspondent in place. Instead of stepping down or at least posting a vote of confidence, she all but ignored everything that was said and didn't even apologize for doing such a bad job in the past. Since then, shekeeps coming up with excuses stating why she cannot do her job properly.
And no, I am not accusing her for having an alternate character - I have 2 active characters myself. But in her post she has made clear that the sole reason why she hangs onto her ID at all is that this toon is the basis for her title. It is apparent that she cares very little for our profession now. Even now, after her "glorious" return, she has not bothered to do anything but a) post a handful of simple replies to a couple of topics every once in a while, b) stickied a single thread, which is nowhere near as important as other posts that should be stickied and c) Made a "state of the profession" post that is outdated on the one hand and a more or less exact copy of Kwee's wishlist on the other hand.
I have no personal problems with our correspondent at all. I only have problems with her status as correspondent. She's free to play whatever toon she likes. But clinging onto the title desperately, after she has lost the trust of many posters on this board, outright ignoring all our concerns, that's just too much. I no longer trust this person, and don't have any faith at all in her. Anyone who treats the profession they're supposed to represent as poorly as she has done and apparently continues to do should be replaced as soon as possible. As such, I will continue to be vocal about wanting a new correspondent just so our current correspondent doesn't get the idea that she'll get through with ignoring everything that has been done and has been said, and that eventually people will forget and move on. I won't forget, and I won't move on. I've lost my faith.
Oh, I definitely agree with you in that respect =)
Where I disagree is when it comes to no longer voicing our concerns here. I do believe one should be vocal about one's concerns, else things will just be hushed up and our correspondent will attempt to move on again.
Xixxix, I repeat, voice your concerns to Thunderheart. He can replace Rilawyn. She can't just stonewall him as she ignores us.

I have not been ignoring anyone. I did respond to one previous thread about this, stating that I had, in fact, not been as active as I should have been. I also stated that from then on, I would be more interactive, and less of a "plain note-taker". However, I was instantly shot out of theconversation right then, with someone saying it was too late.
What I haveNOT been doing however, is responding to every thread that gets turned into a discussion about this. I don't want this topic to dominate every thread, so I have been ignoring new threads about it. I'm not going to encourage discussion about it in every thread that gets posted to with this topic.
Kwee, I responded to your comments via a PM. But the boards were messing up this morning, and I'm not sure if you got it. Please let me know if you didn't.
I don't have anything in my pm box, the forum monster must have eaten it. Please feel free to share your explanation here, I imagine others are also unclear on what type of draft was sent to who and when, and what the state of the profession process was and is meant to be.

Kwee was ID Exp already changed to make it slower like listed in the beginning of the thread. I just took up ID and the gain is soooo slow, if it hasn't been changed please don't do it.
No, there have been no changes to our exp. The suggestion I made was just to help jump start conversation. Even if there were to be changes to our exp,and I hope there will not, they would go to test center for testing before making it to a live server.
