Thread: Price Gouging and Stat Migration

You know, my first an only stat migration I charged the poor guy 1K. I felt so bad for him... zabrak and STILL couldn't get his composite on
You know, there are two types of IDs in the world: The type that will charge you 100K and the type that will charge 5K... or less. There are also two types of customers in the world: The type that pays exactly what you ask of them and no more and the type that gives you a tip if you give them good service.
You guys need to take everything with a grain of salt. Not all IDs will charge 100K. I'd bet it's mostly the people who mastered ID specifically to make money off the patch. If you don't want to pay 100K then by golly I say don't! Fine a nice ID who charges you 5K, and if you feel the need to tip them 100K then do it... but in my opinion if you DO feel the need to spend so much money, spend it on someone who's not quite so greedy. Makes me feel and fuzzy inside when I tip someone 20K for a buff when they asked for nothing
Exactly.
It's happenening just like it does when something "new" comes along or gets changed, and the same******** occurs for several days, ususally. Just try to have a little patience, ride it out, it will pass, and start to "level" out. And also remember, though it might take a little bit longer, there is always someone around that isn't doing the same as the rest are. You just have to be willing to try finding them. If it's that important to you, then you will. IF not, then you won't. IF you choose to go ahead and pay what seems an over-inflated price, just remmeber, you have/had the choice. The other person has the choice to charge whatever they do, and you have the choice to go along with it, or go elsewhere and seek someone more reasonable to you.
Personally, I think price gouging just because something's the latest "new" thing is not a good way to to buisness, but people have their freedom to choose and do it how they want to. Just remember, everyone, those on the other end, do too. Those that want to "over-charge" have the freedom or right(s) (Choice)to do so. Just as do the people not charging higher amounts for whatever reason(s).Equally, those that seek the corresponding service, have the freedom or right(s)(Choice, again) to to seek someone out that dosen't do so (Of which there will always be some around). Just use your heads and look around a little.
As I said, I don't think it's a good thing to be doing. But, it happens, always has, probabally always will. With something like that stat migration, it may take 10 minutes, but to me, paying 100k for it would just be rediculous, period. Just like it would have been to pay hundreds of thousands for a Vehicle, or Mount. I wouldn't do so then, nor would I now. As it was, When the Vehicles were anounced, I took up the skills so I could make them, both for myself, and some friends I knew would want a few. So I also made several to sell, too with all the extra resources I had after. On patch day, I cranked out as many as I could. Once I had the ones I wanted saved away for myself and friends, I took the rest out to sell. In the city, I saw some selling for 50-100k. I also saw some sell for 20-35k (roughly the 3-4CPUthat was average at that time). So I found aspot with fewer sellers, and started "selling", quoting prices of 20-35k, though shortly later I lowered the higher cost ones to 30k). And I did fine. A little while later, though, some one came by, and started sellingnear me, putting up prices double what mine were, which I thought was funny. And then, I even got a tell from the guy, telling me to raise my prices!!! That got me laughing for a bit, then after I told him "Why should I? I'm doing fine." To which he resonds "You're not making money. You should be selling them for 50-60k at least".I said "???". "Excuse me? Just what concern is that to you? I've been, and still am, doing fine. And my prices are roughly around the 3-4 CPU most people use to base their prices for most everything else".That was the end of that, and a short time after he was gone, went to someplace else I imagine. Imagine that...someone telling me what my prices should be, and suggesting that I set them according to how they have theirs. Not to mention, they were doubled because of their "newness" at the time...
Point was/is, I wasn't going to be one trying to take advantage of people just because the situation created the chance to do so. Just wasn't something that I saw as "right", so I don't do it, nor deal with those that do, as seller or customer.Nor would I now. Even if it took longer to find someone for whatever I needed,I wouldn't care, because my principles are more important than just a few minutes or whatever time I may have to wait. It's worth more to me the time and money it takes, to find someone decent, than just settling for what may be "easiest", even if it took a long time, or for some reason cost me more in the long run (perhaps traveling or something). Because I would find what I was looking for, and then also would be the one I would be sure to return to, for anything needed in the future. So, that person, just for the sake of not being greedy, would have both a current customer, and then a repeat one anytime after, as well. Any person in the buisness for the long run, will find the repeat buisness from myself, and anyone I would likely refer because of decent service+prices, worth more than that one time high pricevisit, in most cases.
So, for those that want to gouge, do it, if you want. That's your choice. If you get enough money/buisness, good for you...
For those on the other end (customers), if one person is charging way too muchfor what you think a service is worth, then just go elsewhere. You will find someone, if you choose to look. If you don't, then you really have no one else to blame, but yourself. That's your choice. And it's that simple...
And for those that would have a fit over someone else charging differently, don't worry about it. They have their choice to do so how they want, just like everyone else. And that's their buisness...
Speaking for myself, I would never deal with someone if it looked like they were charging outraegous prices. I'd first check a little, and see what others were charging, to be sure. Just like in here. I'd then see, you have those charging on the high end around80-100k for stat changes. I'd also see then, others charging on the low end from 1,2,5 to 20 or 30k. I'd also see that there were just as many charging lower, as higher. Should then be hard to figure out what to be looking for then, should it? I'd wouldn't even consider dealing with the people on the higher ends. Not at that time, and I'd probabally even remember not to in the future, too.I'd seek some in the more reasonable range. Both at that time, and in the future. And if they were also nice at the time, during the process, they'd be more likely to even make a bit more than whateverset price they had, via a tip or something, just for the sake of them choosing tobe decent. Because that's my choice...
You have your own, too!.
