Thread: What should our next TH question be?? Due by Mon, May 3
My Vote is for the question "Can ID's change vendor's looks and only their's? or others as well?" It would be a great boon to the whole ID community if we could ID ours or others vendors. Like say a Master Merchant comes up and requests to have one of his/her Vendor (onethey have in his/hers inventory) IDed and places it in a ID design chamber. The ID makes the changes and is paid for the work.. It could be a skill the only Master Merchant could have done. Either way,, I know when I hit master merchant I was floored when I saw you couldn't change the way your vendors look. And this should have been an option for IDs from day one.

It' s about time with how much is still broken with the game. Perhaps the GCW, and Combat Revamp Devs should be working weekends too...

I think it would be handy if we could just Advertise to NON-IDers about our skills. I know this sounds like the vendor thing but maybe there are other ways. I just realized i never checked this, but can we register with locations? I'm guessing we can in the ID tents when they hit. It would be nice to have a way to list our services when were not online and without having to craft something to put for sale that lists our skills and HOPE that somebody will read it who needs us.
I know Rune answered this slightly, but The ID mini publish hits 11 th (big yay BTW for that!) but.. um... were gonna have lots of people asking us lots of questions (some good some stupid) i'd love to be able to answer them from having played with it on test center before it comes out.

I know I do, for one. It's annoying to make 60 freakin vendors, just to get one that's not hideously fat, or 800 years old, or completely flat, or has boobs like Dolly Parton..or has a honker that'd make a rhoni think 'dayum, she needs a nose job'. Clothes only do so much, you can't make a 400 year old Twi with no boobs, 63 inch hips, and a nose the size of a Cadillac Escillade look good. Period. Le tthe IDers fix our freakin vendors already, ok?!?!

P.S. Even if vendor ID'ing for non-playable races was limited to body stuff (height, weight, etc) I would be extremely happy.
The problem is that customization of vendors is already a weak merchant skill which has an entire tree devoted to it.
Trust me, that's the answer you will get if you ask that question if asked in the short-form "19 answers" threads.
Yes, ID's *should* be the ones doing it, but the problem is the Devshave backed themselves into a design corner by giving an entire tree of the merchant profession to hiring/customizing vendors. That's 14 skill points merchants have to spend just to be able to choose different species, and at the top level you can give them some clothes.
This is going to be a tricky area with the upcoming vendor revamp - I think the best soloution is for the merchant and ID communities to work together now to try and see how a combination of the two working together could happen. There are tons of things about the creation and selection of vendors that need to change, and I don't want to see groups working against each other on this. It may be as simple as ID's just being able to change the height/weight/color, but I have a feeling the merchant skills will have to matter as to what type of work can be done or the Hiring tree would be even more devalued than it is now.

You're right "customization of vendors" is a weak merchant skill and need a revamp, butI feel IDing vendors is not theproper fix. To me it makes sense that merchants can hire, fire and tell vendors what to wear, But it does not make sense that marchants can do plastic surgery on them.
As a novice merchant I would like to see added to that skill tree the option to hire non-vender NPCs to hangout in your shop. Maybe have two NPCs playing holo-chess in the corner on the shop, or if your a chef/merchant have a table full of NPCs eating. NPCs the can give missions would be very cool and bring in a lot of customers.
