Thread: Rudeness
I am indeed, very blunt. That post however, was neither blunt nor rude. It was simply my own opinion.
There are wrong reasons to pick up a profession, just like there are right reasons. First and foremost, there is the issue of game balance. If someone wants to pick up a profession simply because it's the easiest profession to master, and they can earn lots of credits with it, then chances are everyone wants that same profession, for that same reason.
What you end up with, is everyone picking up image design everytime they need a change made to themselves. That might be a bit of an exaggeration, but it's still an issue you have to face. And if everyone picks it up for temporary use, then what happens to those actually trying to make a profession out of it? They lose out.
So again, in my opinion, picking it up becauseit can "be mastered in 3 hours"is actually a wrong reason, and one that should be fixed.
Not me. I really enjoy ID. I don't care about Holo Hooligans. I don't care about smack-talking pixel killers.

Makes me feel like a used napkin or something the way people use and drop my profession

Yeah, but we're blaming players for that when it's really SOE's fault. They wouldn't be doing ID if it wasn't for the poor method of getting FS slots the dev's put in. They don't like having to grind ID either. It just so happens it's one of the easier ones to get out of the way. Most of them will not be keeping it long enough to really use it.
As I've said countless times, I don't have a problem with them grinding it and dropping it (in fact, I think most of us would prefer that), but I DO have a problem with them coming here to these forums and whining to us about it. What makes them think we want to hear about how their manliness is diminished by having to become a master ID?
Hey guys,
Perhaps a fix for this would to display how long someone has had a prof. mastered above their head? Or maybe to cut them out of making money in the short term set some time incriment mods so their succsess increases with time (they may fail at first?).
I don't think my manliness is at all diminished by doing ID. But then, I was never forced into it

I am unsure what you are talking about. I quoted MUSoprano but I do not think I ever talked about 'respected professions'. While I may not think some professions are the coolest ever, they all deserve respect and I respect them for different reasons. For example, I respect ID's who did not macro grind because that it alot of work, where as I respect Riflemen because they only have one or two shots to kill someome.
Do you have a refrence, so I can adress your question?
Thanks!

Yeah, I believe it was Fuschia who was talking about "respected professions", and I'm pretty sure that's generally anything that's related to combat. Why am I answering for her? She's vocal enough
ROFL! Yes, yes I am. I'm SHOCKED it hasn't gotten me banned from the forums yet. ![]()
As for the person who was considering being an ID until she read this... if you really want to master ID, you won't let our squawking stand in the way. *wink* It's a fun profession, and we're a really GREAT group of people when we're not being ground into the dirt by the combat oriented professions.
By the way, I would like to state that I DID make a thread on the rifleman forum for the purpose of flaming and trolling them. And they responded just as we have: they told me to get the hell out. So it's a game-wide reaction when someone disses your profession.
