Thread: Master Entertainer does nothing for Image Design?
I disagree. There should be a reason for becoming a master of a profession besides just to get into another. With certain professions, it just makes sense not to include things from the elite professions related to it at the master level. If I were to become a master artisan, I wouldn't expect to get some droid model that isn't available to DE's. Because you don't do droid engineering in order to become an MA. However, because image designing is something you do as an entertainer, something should be included as an ME ability.
I realize that everybody would whine and bitch if they had to spend skill points to get anything from ME, but that's the way things work. If you want an ability, you have to use your skill points to do it. The reason you have so few skill points is to keep people from being able to do everything. If one were a truly dedicated ID, they would give up some of their scout skills in order to gain that ability. You choose a profession, and that is what you are. If you want to be an image designer/bounty hunter/architect/doctor you go ahead and try.
Sorry. I don't mean to be hostile, but that's how things come out sometimes.
Don't worry, it's just a friendly debate, butyou also just proved my point.

The fact is that master artison DOES include things master DE's don't get that is directly related to their elite profession. No, master artisans don't get entire droid schematics, but they get schematics for droid parts that master DE's don't get, so the outcome is still the same; in order for a DE to be a "true" DE he also has to be a master artisan. He was lied to by SOE when theytold him he can be master DE without becoming master artisan.
The same holds true for all the other crafting profesions & master dancer & master musician, we were all lied to, & there are skills directly related to our professions that we can't have unless we master another profession that they told us we didn't need.
I agree that things are the way they are & we have to deal with it to a certain extent, but trying to get certain professions screwed over so they're as equally bad as the other screwed over professions is not the way to go.
A better way would be to not add any new skillsto any of the master levels at all, but instead making master would make you a lot better at all the skills under it that you've learned so far.
For example:
Master entertainers would not get any new skills (they would be added in to the levels prior), but would be able to perform with much less effort (lower action) & no screwups (falling during dancing, etc.) & less mind usage for the ID abilities they have.
Master dancers or master musicians, etc would also not get any new skills at the master levels (get them sooner, same as master entertainer), just become more proficient & use less effort, same as for master entertainers, but only in the areas they became masters at. A master dancer would only get the extra benefit from the dancing trees the whole way down through entertainer, & wouldn't get any added benefit from the other entertainer skills unless she becomes a master entertainer. Same would hold for musicians & ID'ers.
This would apply to all other professions too. Master Artisans would not get new skills at master, just no more critical failures, & use less action/mind etc. Master Architects & DE's etc. would have all the skills they need to completely make their stuff because it's no longer part of master artisan plus no crits & less effort, but they wouldn't have those benefits for things in the artisan tree that they didn't master, like business, surveying, etc. unless they also become master artisan.
Something like this is a much better constructive fix to the uneven-nessof the professions, instead of quick fixes that will hurt the game further in the end.
