I couldn't help but throw my own two credits in, simply because I was talking about this with a novice the other night. I'm part of the "10k for stats, tips for the rest school". But the truth is, while I'll tell a customer "tip me what you think it is worth", I actually "charge what I think you're worth". I'm asked on a regular basis for my rates before the actual work, so I tell them "generally 1k per change". The low price usually pulls them in. At the end of the session, they inevitably ask for a total. If they were good, the pricing changes to a tip. Good customers also inevitably tip more than I would've asked for with such low rates. A bad customer finds themself with invisible charges. Most of my bad customers are your typical "uber-leet" fighters who are too busy boggling how I'm a guy to realize how many changes were made anyway. So, instead of 3k for a hair, height, and muscle change, it's 10k for that, and the surcharges for making my day miserable. So far, this has worked quite well for me, because at least if I have a bad customer, I got away with something in return.
