Before we got the ability to migrate, it took days and when we got it, the "masses" began to visit and noticeus. Yes, we do get impatient customers but I still only have met a handfull who has actuallybeen rude tome and it wasn't even that bad.I still meet great people this way and as a rule, most are more open to conversation when they know they have to wait 10 minutes (not to mention extra ID work :smileyhappy![]()
Of course, I will live with the change but whydo things have togo so fast? Waaah, the shuttle waits are too long, waah, the stat migrations are too long, waah, it takes to long to become jedi, get my drift?
I looove the no-timer for masters outside the tent though![]()

I think people are waaaaaay to impatient in this game. Perhaps I come from the worldview that it is the "journey that matters". I have ground a few professions (worked as hard as I could to get to master as fast as I could) and NEVER liked those professions once I got to master. Sure, holocrons really did force people to do professions that they didn't like and sure, in those cases it makes sense to get through it as quickly as possible. But what is the point now? Why do you need to become master so quickly? Take some time to learn your profession and enjoy it. As I learned from my (/hanging head low) AFK musician grind, if I didn't like the path, I sure as heck wouldn't like the end.
As for the shuttleports and starports: It was great having that amount of time to get to know other people who were waiting there. It is like waiting at the busstop -- a bit annoying sometimes, but very rewarding when you meet someone new. Nowadays, people can just hop in their spaceship and zoom to other planets without waiting at all. I remember one time in particular that I logged on in the Mining Outpost on Dantooine. I needed to get to my house on Lok. I kept missing the shuttles so it took me nearly 40 minutes to get there. But, on the way, I met some cool people, did some transactions, and had a great time.
I am working on ID now for the first time -- 2-0-0-0 and I like the fact that people have to slow down a bit. People have a chance to talk about their battles, how they are doing in real-life, etc. Plus, I am also a Master Tailor, so I take this time to make them new clothing.
One last point, how angry do you think customers are going to be being charged for ID if it is so quick? Are you going to drop prices considerably? If so, what does this do for people whose sole income is ID?
I know what you will say: "Don't get angry that the rest of us are getting what we want". But I ask you, is it always the best thing for people to get what they want? I am talking about the big picture of wants vs. needs here.

Hello, my name is Cebot and I'm an impatient gamer.
Want to know why? I have a family, a job, and not nearly as much time as the college crowd to play. What I want out of my SWG experience is to do exciting Star Warsy stuff with my friends, all but a couple of whom have been made in-game. When there's an event such as a Deathwatch Bunker attempt, by the timeI go from our player city on Tatooine to Mos Esiley toNaboo to Endor then meet up, get buffed, get mind buffs, travel the 6K out to the bunker, wait for everyone to powerboost and otherwise meet up and get ready, I've got to stop playing. How much fun do you think I had, given my objective was to enjoy the high-level content the DWB provides?
I've got a jedi. I'd really like to get his template done as soon as possilbe, since there are severe penalties for dying. Once I'm done with the tempate, I won't have to worry about dying and I'll finally be able to enjoy the fruits of mymonths of "work" (counting holo grinding) to get him to that point. It's not like I can start a buff session whenever I want; I have to wait until I have a clear window of opportunity, because I can't just walk away from the computer when my 2-year-old wants me to play Little People without nearly ensuring a major XP loss (does SOE realize this is what they force us into with that system?!?!). Any time spent waiting on shuttles or "infrastructure" takes away from time spent enjoying the rest of the game.
When I want to socialize, I play to socialize. When I want to explore or achieve, I don't want to be held up in an attempt to force me to socialize just then.

anyways, I totally agree with you about the fact that master id's should not have a timer for anything.
But I have found that by the time the customer makes their mind up on what they want to look like, the timer is over anyways.
(So I truly don't mind the wait) I think part of that is that they want us to have a reason to go to the salon's still... because honestly,
If I didn't have to, I wouldn't spend much time in there... I would much rather be out and about.
I am absolutely ecstatic about the 4 min stat migrations though! This is a definite step in the right direction... making the grind less excruciating,
and helping us be able to help more in less time... means more money... more happiness oneveryone'spart.. I don't really like FORCING people to
talk to me because they are tied by an id screen. I would rather they hang out on their own accord.. lol
/salute solider ![]()
The lucrative aspect of novice ID is stat migration. It would be nice, as a reward for master ID to have the timer go to zero.
[rant on]
I am also a father and can only spend so much time online at once. I don't mind credit sinks, but deliberate time sinks are just not fun. This includes shuttles, pets, camps, buffs (mind ones are way too long), mission refreshing, and yes - IDing...
[rant off]
So people will still go to Novice ID's for their all-important XP-gaining Stat Migrations and the like.
QFE (and highlighted)....... I'm asking why MASTER IDs have to wait for a timer.......not people grinding.
I don't see why any Master ID should have a timer for anything.

Don't get me wrong. I'm not one of the above mentioned college crowd. I do have a full time job and a family to take care of. I do respect and accept the fact that people wants to get more out of play due to lack of game time. After reading the above posts I understandbetter and I retract or redefine my former statement.
I just see a dangerous slide towards a place where stat migrations, buffs, wounds and battle fatique will all be expected to happen instantaneous and willtherefor be handled by vendors or NPCs if not various stim/heal/wound/migration packs are bought at the bazaar to carry with you. Why would the majority of people visit entertainers and IDs if those things were removed? It seems that socialization is not prioritized by the majority if you do not want to wield a weapon and be part of a hunting group. _That_ I find disturbing. I love the uniqueentertaining part we have whether it be dancing, playing music or image designing people and would love to see it stay instead of turning the game into a fight/hunt/jedi only.
I find it rather amusing (and ironic)that Pooplefronk is happy about the elimination of timers outside the tent for Masters IDing themselves, but thinks that timers for stat migrations should stay at 10 minutes.
I need to clarify myself then. That reduction onlyapplies when I doID on myself asstated. I do not gain unfair benefits overnon-masters as I can't ID others in the field but Ican ID myself as often as I wish. I always felt it a bit strange that I, as a master, had to wait to apply a new eye colour or hair style if I'm not in the salon.

The reason people are impatient is because not all of us have hrs to spend on a game. I for one have 1-2 hrs a day that i can play. Waisting 5-10 min on shuttles 10-20 min on buffs. or looking to get some armor, weapons, food..etc that will take me eather 30-1 hr to find is a total waist of time. I didn't buy this game to spend the first 1-2 hrs looking for buffs, food, armor, ID. This game lacks big time when it comes to the causel gamer. If you don't have 3-6 hrs to blow onthis game don't even bother getting on. That is way i canceled my account.
Here are some tips for SWG
First make all vendors searchable through the bazzar nothing worst then spending 2-3 hrs looking some something you need through a million vendors and across the galaxy.
Second eather take off the Buff timer for docs so that they can buff much much faster, Make buffs unneeded to play, or 3 make a buff bot available to docs just like a vendor, or that frog we had on TC i'm sure a buff bot will please the docs. Also half of them get so sick of buffing for a living that they become down right rude, Not that i blame them i would be too.
These two things Will make SWG much more fun, and please rememeber not everyone can play this game like its a JOB. IKnow somepeople who can play for 8 hrs strait but comeon not all of us are geeks who have nothing better to do in our lives then spendendless hrs on a game. I have a job 2 kids and a wife to take care of. Spending 1-2 hrs is more then i can give to a game. Hope this helps if someone ever listens.
Drecki wrote:Great change, 10 minutes is terrible when grinding. Can anybody confirm that the XP gained will remain the same? Just to be sure...
Cannot guarantee that xp *will* remain the same permanently, but on TC now, the xp is exactly the same (I tested it).

QFE (and highlighted)....... I'm asking why MASTER IDs have to wait for a timer.......not people grinding.
I don't see why any Master ID should have a timer for anything.
Well.......To provide the novice box with a useful and marketable skill that people are paying for is...just....well....not really swg...... No other profession has an ability or product at the novice box that you could ever think anyone would want to pay for.
While I'm not saying it is correct or not, you IDs should be thankful for this. Every other crafting/service profession has to grind to the master box to provide a service or product worth paying for......
Personally, I'm a fan of consistency. If the design of the game is such that you should only be able to sell a worthwile product or service at the master box, then it should be that way for all professions. That said, there should be a food that gives the user the ability to give both mind buffs anywhere with a droid in less than 2 minutes (similar to a Doctor). Waiting 10 minutes to give mind buffs is mind numbing ![]()
