let me just rebute by saying there are many people who would love to have certain additions or features or enviroments in this game that George Lucas would never approve of. Just because the community *wants* something doesnt mean it should be added. It's the difference between a starwars based game and a community/customer based game. Sadly I see less starwars than there should be. If everyone wants feature A or content B then heck lets add it and just call this another cookie-cutter MMORPG instead of a Star Wars MMORPG. I wouldnt mind that, but while this game still has Star Wars on it, I will continue to push for more starwars features for as long as i pay the $15/month to play this game.
- George Lucas/LucasArts must have approved it, they go over everything added to SWG.
- The Art team came up with this, no IDer knew a thing about it except the little they told us
- They are temporary IDs, only last a few hours.think of them as"Party IDs"
- "another cookie-cutter MMORPG" ???? What other MMORPG has these or IDs for that matter???

Proof that some people bought the game to actually play Star Wars and not The Sims: Star Wars Edition. The GCW may represent a battle between 2 old guys over who has the greeniest lawn but thats COOL as long as we can have cool looking furnitures and new hair styles.

It does, kind of.... but really this game would be more immersion if there were actual devices you wore, activated and then displayed these toys. Holo's coming out of droids makes sense. Holo's magically hovering around a persons head does not make sense. If these *do* go into the game, i hope there is some sort of physical reasoning for it, a party belt? a special eletronics headband? anything but just floating like magic.... this game doesnt have magic.... this game has the force and it has technology.
(p.s. i feel the same way about the personal light. i have a thread going around on it.... personal lights need something physical attached to them.)

An additional holo-emote will be featured in this month's Newsletter (which should go out tonight or tomorrow).
ditto
Double Ditto, and an added, "I've been here since before Beta 1 started, and NEVER received a newsletter, despite MULTIPLE attempts at providing the correct email address - I even subscribed two DIFFERENT addresses, my home and my work one, and haven't had the newsletter on either! Do you have any idea how much frustration you generate every time you put exclusive stuff into the newsletter which I CANNOT receive?

How many fixes/changes/balances have there been for combat/combat-related content/PvP/GCW since launch? Compare that to the number of true enhancements ID's have had since launch. In case you don't know, ID's have had a major exploit fixed as well as a workaround for a major bug. Yes. They fixed the WORKAROUND, not the bug.
ID's as a profession badly need this update, both as far as gameplay goes and to give us something which may put us back into the economy on our servers.
I am not against ID additions....It's that comparitivily speaking this game already has a ton more individual choices in regards to appearnce, while a good portion of us are still waiting nearly a year later to play some Star Wars. They may have made combat changes left and right, but a half ass attempt is a half ass attempt.
I aside from my frustration with SOE to make this game as "sleepy" as possible wouldn't mind a dozen or so more hair cuts...but frankly, HOLO emotes? it's kinda fruity loops.

and just to further clarify..... Holo's never appear out of thin air in Star Wars Universe. Holo'sare broadcastedfrom technologically advanced devices.
The dev's like profession interdependance.... here's an idea that i wouldn't mind....
Instead of having ID's directly apply "magic" holo's to people, let Master Artisans construct party eletronics which can be handed off to ID's who then program the eletronics to display all the variety of "holo-emotes". After programmed by the ID, the ID then sells these party electronics to his/her customer. The customer "equips" the party device, or places it in his/her house, and then proceeds to activate the device.
That would make more sense and would at least be HALF starwars instead of NO starwars. Holo's dont appear out of thin air!

Sadly alot of people have only watched the movies and never took the plung into the multitude of books, comics and other official sources for the star wars universe. There are many things in the books and comics (official) that you would have never thought would have ever happened in the Star wars universe. Chefs, repairmen, hunters and jedi...sometimes doing normal things, sometimes not. Dancers and musicians getting into trouble...breaking a contract. Bounty hunters with humor.
For example...the exotic entertainers guild...a consolidated group of dancers, consorts, and prostitutes which provides support when interfacing with crimelords and businessmen...first talked about in the "shadows of the empire"
Or Brin'shak, a Twi'leki "talent scout" provided a group of Twi'lek female dancers to Durga the Hutt for his entertainment. Talked about in the comic book "tales from the new republic."
