I think a Beauty Salon building would be a great addition to our profession I have a little beauty salon in a small generic where I've lined up the white reclining chairs. They look so similar to the ones in hair salons... Customers reallly love getting into the roleplay aspect of ID, and it's so much easier if the environment looks like the real thing. Other great ideas I've heard include a medical Plastic Surgery type office, and a Tattoo Parlor, which would be SO awesome if we were ever to get body tattoos *crosses fingers*.

I really love the idea ofallowing us to heal battle fatigue through something like massage. There are so few of us it would not have that huge of an impact on other entertainers. Though it would not be fair given that poor Dancers and Musicians have to spend ages racking up entertainment healing points to advance in their professions.

That's true. I'm a master ID and a master dancer, and I've mastered both of them twice. getting entertainer healing xp was always the worst! Maybe we could just heal a very LIMITED amount, and it could take longer. Or, maybe they could implement some sort of healing experience needed into the profession, although then you get into talking about rewriting the whole thing, and if the devs aren't even able to fix that stupid hair color bug, I seriously doubt they'd be willing to revamp the entire profession for us. LOL

It seems like you could turn a house into a salon like the other professions.

Wouldnt it make more sense to get a ID/Merchant tent type of thing and some salon items rather than a salon itelf?

Sure, that would work too, we just would like to have something all for us. We're an already neglected profession in my opinion. I really just like the idea of having an ID building that reduces mind cost for a master ID.

Also, it would be really neat if we had the ability to "register" with these locations like dancers, musicians and doctors can do.

On another note, it's nice to see a dev patrolling our humble forum. *waves to TH*

It would add diversity to the city also. It takes a lot of work to prevent a tract home or complete randomnesslook in cities. This would give it more variety in cities. It also remind people that there are IDs if you look at the map. I frequently forget about them but if there was a Salon tab on the right it would remind me everytime I loaded it.

ThunderHeart,

Thanks for looking in! Yes, we could use a house or something too. The main idea seems to be to get us on a similar level to the other 2nd tier entertainer professions so we have more of a needed role in the game. Salons & spas just seemed to be a realistic link to letting us also heal BF & be able to place a business structure for a player city like they do. And owning a resort would be too cool!!!

Can I eat it? Shoot it?

Ride it? Beat a Kryatt over the head with it?

No? Then who cares?

(Yes, I am just kidding.... I actually think it's a pretty cool idea.)

im not an image designer and i cant stand PC cities but i would be tempted to visit one if i knew that there were certain new hairstyles, hair colours, body markings and tatoos and body shapes i could only get in a PC city salon and master image designer.

i would be interested in going to em if i knew i could make my.... assets larger...

This is a great idea, but I have a question.

It seems like you could turn a house into a salon like the other professions.

Wouldnt it make more sense to get a ID/Merchant tent type of thing and some salon items rather than a salon itelf?

The reason people would want a salon are the same for wanting a medical center or a cantina.

My PA had used a large house as a cantina/med center for ages until player cities opened up. The main reason to have a cantina or a med center was they were something that was distinctive so people could look at a glance and know what was in it and the ability to register it on the map.

Image designers get few other cookies in game something like a salon may be a nice thing to add when the devs want to add some more civic structures.

I'm not an ID, I'm just a dev tracker reader.... but what if you gave ID folks more ablilities in their "Salon" ie.. name changes or more customizations, just a thought

TH- they would at least need specific furniture to make it look like a salon. What kind would be up to them (not ID myself)

I think that what we really want is an "office" that is visible. It's a problem because ID is in a sense a cross between an entertainer and a crafter. We need a place to "sell" our wares, but at the same time, unlike a crafter, we can't drop everything on the vendor and run away.

When you pass by a merchant tent, you say, hey, there are goods in there. In fact the merchants might be registered on the overhead map. When you go into a player town, and you want to find a dancer, you find a cantina. Sure, technically a house will work as a cantina, but it's not the same, in terms of visibility. The top complaint I've been seeing is that people have no idea how find an image designer.

One possible solution: Allow Image designers to register on overhead map in a cantina AND in a house. The reason I say to allow registration in a home as well is because the lighting in a cantina is quite lousy, and furthermore, sometimes body changes involve undressing, making a cantina an unsuitable place for changes.

But ideally, it would be nice to have a small 1-lot building that signals "image design shack" so that people passing by will know "image designer located here."

I'm not an ID either, but this is a really cool idea. Like with the crafting stations the Salon could allow additional changes that are not available "in the field". Great idea.
