Thread: What to charge?

I wonder if you find yourself making much profit this way. Perhaps I am generally pricing my goods too low (from 1k up to 2.5k for most clothes) to make any real profit from ordinary clothes. One of the things that I find is that my loot vendor brings in far more cash than my tailor vendors do and when I spend a couple of hours dealing with customers and only making what to me is a paltry some of cash, I find myself thinking that I may have been better off going hunting instead. I also have guild activities to sort out which make further demands on my time so is it right that I charge higher rates just cos I am a tailor in demand. I don't want to become the Versace of chimaera but I can see it going that way.

I also wonder how much people will pay for a tailors attention. There are a lot of rich folk out there who wouldn't blink at buying half the stock on my vendors. Lets face it - when people buy a suit of armour they are spendingup toa hundred times what they are spending on an outfit from us. So if they have dreamed of having a particular outfit then they probably would be willing to go to quite a high price in order to get it. Just a thought anyway.

Because I do not like stocking a vendor, I really like to do personal fittings. For these there is no additional fee even though I will go through sometimes a dozen items to get oneuniform/outfit that will make my customer happy. let them know that they will only be charged for the peices that they keep, and that I'll gladly take the castoffs. I take the unwanted items and list them on my vendor for sale. I have found that I end up with a decent variety of clothing on my vendor, without having to grind the crafting tool to dust to get stock up.

As for 4 socket items... I only charge for them if they are requested. There is a 5k flat fee in addition to what the cost of the peice is. I do this because it can take 1-20 tries depending on the item. I also will no longer do a BE enhanced item with the specific 4 sockets. It takes the fun out of making people look good for me.

I really don't have a set formula, I'll just go off the top of my head. It's different every time.

I do quite well imo (not as well as AS.. but I have enuf to cover my maint and resources and the bank balance is rising) - my prices range from 300 (bangles) to 8,000 (flight suits and other items that take a lot of cloth components). I have noticed recently that the best selling items range between 1K and 4K. Of course, I also stock a lot of those in the basic colors.
As I said, I haven't ever had anyone complain about my prices.
I charge 500 cr per point on BE clothes X the number of pieces of cloth it takes. But most people choose the easier items that take only 1 BE cloth, and the cost comes out very reasonable. Granted, I am using up stock of BE tissues that my late game hubby made for me - my prices might have to rise a bit when those all run out and I am buying tissues from someone else.

I like the idea of charging a 5K service fee for 4 sockets. I think I will implement that.

My Regular Clothing prices are 2k, 5k, 10, or 15k (nothing inbetween, makesprices easier to remember off by heart this way)

BE Clothes are 30k - 90k

Schematic Clothing 200k-400k

Star Wars outfits 50k

Only ever had one complaint about my prices since i used this price scheme 8 or so months ago.
