Thread: Where is everyone? :)

Much as I'd love to, can't really blame TH for any of this…the way I understand it, he doesn't have much more power than we do—just more access. So really the fault lies where it always has, with the devs. Their communication is still horrible, their organization seems to be lacking, and their understanding of how the game is played—as opposed to how they intended for it to be played—is weak at best.

Do I want bug fixes and new content? Yes, very much so. But I'd hold off on that for a couple more months if it'd give the devs time to really understand how the system they put in place works in practice instead of in theory. I'm worried that any changes made without that understanding will turn me off to ID the same way the DoT, range, and soon-to-come Combat XP nerfs turned me off to CM. Maybe I'm just a cynic, or a pesimist, but sometimes I almost think that no change at all would be better than the wrong change.

The lack of firm answers to most of our questions has only reinforced that fear—if our advocatewith the devs doesn't understand us enough to be able to provide more concrete answers than the ones he did, what hope do we have when it comes time for him to explain our wants and needs to the devs?

Anyway…just my 2 creds…and I've been having a bad day at work, so I may change my mind once I get home and relax a bit. But for now I'm somewhat disheartened.

Hi Kwee... I haven't played in forever other than dropping in last night ... I couldn't believe it after three months there still wasn't anything substancially added to the profession. I'm starting to wonder if we should just wait for the space expansion.

But hey look at the bright side - at least we get customability. Look at FFXI - - the REAL attack of the clones. It's frightening how few things you can do with your character in that game.

Anyway... hang in there.

Gah, I found the ID answers to be a whole lot more hope inspiring than the Ent answers. It sounds like TH really is going to play an ID for a while, and he'll see these things. He'll get the requests for hips/bums and 3d textured facial hair/body tats... he'll get the requests for "wigs" and crazy anime hair colors... he'll get the "aren't there anymore hairstyles? i've seen all these" after going through _all_ the ones in the customer's race. He'll also learn that items would be nice and make sense (sounds like he's already up for this). Hopefully he'll also see that registering with cantinas and having ID missions could be useful, nice, and fun... as would having more ways and reasons to move around the game in an ID capacity (quests, themeparks, selling things, and what not being reasons... other ways to make money being ways). I think he's going to get it.

Base Ent, Dancer, and Musician, not so hopeful for those... sounds like he has some kind of mental block about those being fun classes.

Glad to see our girl Kwee giving 'em heck about the afk denial problem in the Ent thread though!

HI Kwee,

First thx for your very good summary of what is happening to the ID- community and our wishes. I think it says it all.

I really have the same feeling as Jealla. IDing was my first "love". And now after months seeing nothing happens i am seriously considering to step over to Chef.I checked this board to see if any hard dates of a patch for IDing have come up. But sadly i see no dates. So i think my descision to drop ID is final.

I have, however some input for your fight to better IDing with the devs based on TH answers.

- Do IDers want to craft: YES if we get good items like disguisekits, make-up, wigs, petmake-up, buffsetc. Its the best and easiest way to introduce IDing into the rest of the community and making them dependent from it.

Part of vision is that IDing should be an elite after Artisan. Add certain craftables (such as make-up) in the line of artisan. IDers should be able to make money with missions for artisans this way in a very easy way (no development for idermissions needed. at least at first). The line in entertainer has to vanish (maybe add singing for entertainers?). Abilities should either be added in artisan but preferably in novice ider.

- Merchant vs ID with vendormake-over. IDers should be able to alter vendors with the same options as a character. Merchants however should be able to change the vendor (with hiring IV) with bought items, such as make-up. The same as with tailor. Tailor makes the clothes and the merchant can apply them.

Petmake-up - petmake-up (overall temporarycolorchange) should be made by iders and applied bya CH.The make-up should fade in a week of 2 weeks. Suggestion on colors: NEON, black, naturals.

- Disquise kit ...Like spices and food disquise should have a timelimit. "Second there should be a waiting time (like muon) for reapplying. First it blances the gameplay. Second to ensure grievers dont abuse disquise. Dosquise kits should be crafted in crates of 25 like most food or spices.

Types of disquise:

- NPC-faction disquise (maskscent-like) - this disquise doesnt need to visual (like maskscent)

- roleplay disquise (real look dsiquise) - choices from other races to imperial officers (sort of menu with premade chars that look like a certain profession or race etc).

Buffs : A few ideas of types of buffs thatare body or mentaltraining related. (preferably craftable)

Yoga buff - Concentrates the mind. So it gives mind reduce cost (50% less or so)and lets medics do better buffs or heals in combat or crafting increases.

Barbarian -buff : this type of buff enhances the naturalphysique (Health+action)for a fighter like medic-buffs do. it enhances the damage done and weakens the defense a bit (more damage extra relatively then defense less).

more colors : i amazes me to read that TH doesnt know anything about this. A few months back this was the only point devs were thinking about to change since it was the easiest thing to do. This reaction convinced me to stop.

Furthermore it amazes me that developers think that profession shifting is a thing done after a few weeks. Especially with roleplaying its not the case. (How often did they have a career change rl?) This has never been done in any game and the other games have the advantage of more toons per account.

3D facial hair: to be honest if it never comes..i couldnt care less...

Good Luck!

Lots of excellent ideas Idany I think the devs are moving away from giving hard dates for anything, because software development is such that things often take longer than they think they will, and then the community gets angry when something gets pushed back. I would really not be discouraged about the colors. TH really is checking into why these haven't been implemented yet, we talked about it last week and have exchanged a couple of emails. Basically what I told him was I felt that was one of our wish list items that might be easier to implement than others, while being one of our top ones. We'll see what happens

Thunderheart really DOES go back to read through threads he's started. And then often discusses different points brought up by the community on the corr forum. That's why I've been encouraging youALL to post

I just feel really disheartened that we've been batting around wish list items for SO long, asking for the same things repeatedly, and were told at one point that weird hair colors had been OK'd. Now to hear that TH doesn't really know when these changes are coming but will have to check with the art department, that is disheartening. I feel like we've been yelling at the top of our lungs "Hair color! Tattoos!" for 6 months, and we get a "we'll check into it" or basically an "I'll have to ask the art department." 6 months later, the art department should have already been asked! We've been yelling and yelling and yelling, and now the only thing we have from all our repeated requests is frustration.

These are not "it would be nice if..." items, these are items that will revitalize our profession by allowing us to do something unavailable at character creation. Extra hairstyles "are a good possibility?" Oh that's reassuring - we can get 3 extra hairstyles, so that we get a rush of people over the course of a week who want an elite hairdo, only to have our business trickle down when the hairdos have been doled out. How is that any different than what we have now? A few extra hairdos is not satisfactory new content.

I don't know what the answer is to this problem. Somewhere there has been a breakdown in communication. But I feel like all the time we've spent posting and debating and hashing things out on this forum was equivalent to doodling, with the current response that seems oblivious to the repeated requests for these items.

Well some things have changed recently. The top five issue answers didn't really start getting back to the correspondents untilDec. From now on thedevswill besetting time aside especially for correspondent items with each publish. Publish 6 will go live soon, and all we have there that I can tell is that hairstyle fix. I'd say if by Publish 8 we've received nothing, even I will panic Be sure that every few days or so I've had some type of opportunity to touch on ID with a dev (mostly TH of course). The channels are very open between the correspondents and TH. He's essentially my correspondent. I'm working hard behind the scenes, but there is also a lot you can do. Post constructive criticism and ideas to TH's answers thread. He will come back to read every post. And look at the good in what he wrote. Our ideas are being considered, and he seems to imply that some are in development. We are a very unique stand-alone profession and we are going to require individual attention. Take the combat professions for example. In one fell swoop many of them will soon be affected by the combat pass. When something happens for us, it happens ONLY for us, and we're a little segment of the population But we're being noticed, and good things are coming
