Thread: Newsflash: ID Building (Tent) now on Test Center
I just check the tentout in-game (in theed) and I think it looks good. I have a few thoughts;
- I like the base color of the tent, but the banner needs to change. (maybe yellow or gold)
- On lighting, I think it would be very cool if the ID term light-up when in use
- I notice that you can't stand on the ped it self, which makes me wonder if a hologram will go there?
- The decoration outside the doorway needs to do something, spin or a glitter effect

I was standing on them last night so I know it's possible. There was some really odd lag going on so it may have been some odd server issue that made it look like people weren't.
I like the outside of the tents, the insides are really sterile and dark. Lights!!!! We need lights!!!!
- Every other profession can do their trade in a private house just as well as in a player city building, or an npc city building. Medics can heal wounds, dancers can heal battle fatigue, etc. Artisans can put crafting stations and vendors in private houses. So it's unfair that we can't get these mysterious benefits from either a player city building or a private house, but must be tethered to a player building, when that's not the case for any other profession.
- The buildings have no privacy. As the tents stand now, anyone can just walk in. I don't know about you, but many of my clients, especially males, think of ID as a private thing. They don't want people knowing they're being ID'ed, or what's being done. Clients don't want people seeing them as they try out different 'dos (some of which may look hideous). Sometimes a client may need to disrobe in order to get body proportions right - but they won't want to do so in a tent where anyone can walk in, and another image designer is working alongside them. It's embarrassing. At least in a player city tent, there would be some peace and quiet, and a bit of privacy. (This is really both a building design issue and a player city structure issue). Let's face it. Getting your legs waxed in front of 20 strangers is embarrassing. Having people lined up inside the tent haggling for an ID's attention is distracting. Many of us schedule appointments so that clients can have the privacy and time that they desire. The tent with people in a line outside the door will not make them feel pampered.
- Socialization will not be served by the tent. ID's will not want to sit in a dark tent all alone waiting for clients. More likely, they will get a client and then say "meet me at the tent". Also, if a new client happens to come in while the ID is working on Client 1, there will really be no socialization. Most of us can't focus on doing an ID and listening to our client, as well as chatting it up with others. I don't see additional social interaction - I see ID's and clients talking in groupchat for the sake of privacy, and for the sake of cutting down ID spam as others in the room attempt also to do ID sessions.
- Our number one concern was visibility and registration. No ID will want to just "hang out" at the tent, unless there is some sort of functional registration system so people know where to find him/her.
They're not functional yet

So I assume by the fact that you can't tell us what they do that they are there on testcenter, but they are not functional yet. Or are they going to make us all go there and play "guess what they do"?
Here is two screenshots showing how far I can stand into it, so really I can stand on the edge of the pad just not the center.

Notice in the secondpic my feet are inside the machine. (not an issue for me, but I thought I say something)
Maybe it's because my toon has big trandoshan feet ![]()
