Thread: For IDs Only... Is this really what we want?
Communication is key. Why work hard on something the community doesnt really have any interest in?
And that's something that could have been cleared up with a little bit of two-way communication. I'm biased, I'll admit that, but the sense I'm getting is that these things really aren't what a large part of the community, or our customers, want. No matter how easy they may have been to implement, that's still some amount of time that could have been spent on something we do want, no matter how insignificant. The other big problem I see is that the first emote I saw was of the Imperial insignia—I'm very much afraid that it will be used as a rallying point to claim there's no need for something we do want: factional (among other) tattoos. So, for the zillionth time in the past two days: we need better, two-way communication. There's still a lot we don't know about these things, and a lot that we don't know about the status of any of our other requests. In this informational vacuum we can't present useful, meaningful discussion, and to my way of thinking we are forced into voicing our largest concerns for fear they come to pass otherwise.

What she said.
When I saw the first screenshot (the one from the newsletter) I thought it was really cool—then I saw the rest of them and the full implications of people walking around with these things, even intermittently, hit me. I'd rather have had 1 new hairstyle for everyone.
The problem is that I am guessing that getting one new hairstyle for everyone is just too much work right now. The holo-effects just take some simple 2-D art. It just not reasonable to expect that any of the art intensive professions are going to have really nice new content until quite a bit into the space expansion. They have already dropped big hints that this is where the majority of their time is going.
Speaking as a consumer:
Those are an eyesore. They look like left over entertainer droid graphics they had lying around(as Aesie said). I was excited about glitter, hair accessories etc. These are a far cry from those. Speaking as a role player....That is the stupidest thing I have seen yet . Not because of immersion but they are just plain tacky. So are new hair and skin tone pallettes still in? ( keep hope alive)
Edit: Just Noticed this thread was ID only..my bad

I agree that we should have better two-way communication. I posted that yesterday. I was just explaining why I think they decided to give the holo-emotes rather than new haircuts, etc. Personally, as much as I look forward to wearing the little pink kitties, if I had known that they planned to replace the glitter effects with holo-emotes, I would have said that we should keep the glitter! I think that would be a lot more popular, and since they would both be particle effects, I don't see why it would be more difficult to do. It seems to me that someone in the decision chain decided that we would like this better and changed it. This is where the lack of two-way comminucation comes in. Wemight have had the same basic idea, but done better if we had some idea of what direction they were going in.

These are the particle effects, and were done instead of the hair accessories (glitter, streaks, barettes, etc) that were originally planned. An example of us being disappointed when things changeI do agree we'll have to see them before making any judgements. They will all last under a minute and are intended to be used as visual emotes. They will very much be along the lines of what Sir Voor has been envisioning, fun short-lasting partyish effects, though I imagine they will be used in all sorts of ways. As for hair accessory particle effects I'm sure we'd all like to still see these. Don't assume we'll be left on the side for another 6 or 7 months
We won't let the devs get away with that again will we
We certainly won't get attention on such a large scale but there are still things being considered for us that might trickle in here and there, starting with our tents getting decorated in Publish 9
- Do we sell one HE (Holo-Emote) that does 16 different HEs, or each one seperately?
- Can two HEs be done at the same time? Example; the skull and music notes at the same time may look cool.

Add me to the list of concerned and dissappointed.

I'll pass along everyone's concerns/disappointment/etc. about communication and loss of hair accessory effects.
I'd rather see IDs be able to apply these thingsoutside my house or in a player city.
see? Another good idea! I'm working for the wrong company I think, lol.

Umm... Who said we can't? As far as I know they are not tied to the tents (the tents have a secret, undisclosed purpose which hopefully we will know later today). By the way, I am not trying to censor anyone and all opinions are welcome even if I disagree with them, but I think that the idea of this thread was that it was to be IDers only. We are a very small community and when a red name posts here it becomes almost impossible for us to communicate with each other because hundreds of people come in and start yelling about things. I am definitely not going to try stop people from posting, but I thought people might want to know why we are trying to keep a few threads for us only.
