I would agree with you if this was the case....however it wasn't. She was giving away all services for free....spamming it every 2 seconds AND doing this while 3 other ID's were standing there trying to make a living. THIS is what bothered me.

Well.. this is a tricky question. It's possible she could have just been a very good salesperson, and using this opportunity to sell other things. Maybe she'd been burned by someone overcharging recently?

I'm going to have to side with the 'It's her quarter' arguement here.Granted Image Design is a feast or famine profession as far as money goes, and it is rude of here to have not initially included you in her thoughts... However, she's not breaking any laws, either. As a business owner, she can also advertise like this, as well. It sucks, but it's true. Stores undercut each other all the time just like this.

What I would do should the situation occur again, is ask her to do your Stat Migration since she's doing them for free. Tell your friends to go to her right now, since she's free.3+ people can keep an ID busy and not advertising for a long, longwhile. Experiment with your stats! There has to be a way to get them to line up verticallyto matchyour telephone number! Have fun!

There's nothing you can do to stop someone shouting. You can /report them for spam or ask them to stop, but that's all. It looks like you did both of those, good job. She was being very rude, but she wasn't breaking any rules.

My point is you simply *can't* stop someone from doing this. Not without doing things that can get *you* banned. She is abusing her right to advertise, but SOE has designed this game such some people feel that spamming is the only effective way to get the word out. To some extent, she may be right about that.

My suggested solution is to show her why offering free services is bad. You get too many customers, and they don't feel like they owe you a thing, or even a word of thanks. I would leave her alone, and go do something else. It won't be long before she leaves... staring at that screen is even more mind-numbing if she doesn't have an arguement to keep her awake.

It's true that advertisement spams are the most common way to spread out word. The official implementation fo the Merchant barker modules actually are the best proof about that. The point here is, that spamming such advertisements every 2 or 5 seconds are simply rude and might be enough to justify a report. And yes: it is extremely rude to spam free service beside 3 others that are hardworking to make a living out of it. It's the typical Law-of-the-jungle-behavior you find in this strange world called 'Real life', too. The strong bully around the weaker. The rich picking on the poor.

And no, beside counter-spamming (which I don't really see as a solution) or the ignore-list and a report there is not really much you can do about it, beside what the original poster did: talking to the people in question to find a compromise.

May the Force be with you all!

Currently, I ID for tips only. Why? Because im a 2/3/2/1, or some insanely low number like. There are several customers I have to tell - no, I cant give you that color, fur style, tattoo, haircut, height, weight, whatever. As such, I feel that if a customer is willing to accept less than what they originally wanted, it is not fair to charge them as much as a master image designer who could easily perform all of those changes. I also dont feel justified charging someone 20k for a stat mig in that, many newbie players need stat migs (once they figure out armour and buffs)(and thats if they can afford them) and I don't want to take the most money from the people that can afford it the least. In general, I find that if I am courteous and patient, people tend to tip very well, much more then the guild list of standard ID prices someone sent to me (I don't remember many details other than prices, I just threw it out).

Yes but ID'ing for tips and spamming every 2 seconds that you are ID'ing for free is different. I'm not a Master yet either, so currently I charge 10k for stat mig. and I usually do the rest for tips unless someone is rude then I give them a price on everything else. I make really good money by doing this. However, It is very rude for someone to to spam total free services next to others trying to make money. It is called manners, something I see a lot of people lacking in this game. No they didn't break any SOE rules, but personally, I think if you spam more than once in a few min. the system should kick your butt off.
