Thread: Feats: a future ID proposal
Hey Mikey, I think they like it!
The more I think about this, the better it gets.
A few ideas on this here...
Each advantage MUST have a disadvantage. That would greatly encourage careful decision making when choosing these, which would make them important enough to not change every other day, which we certainly don't want.
Also, I see that the methods of image designers work are as unique as the ID themselves. Since some ID'ers, (IE, me) like the flexibility of being mobile and convenient for our customers, limiting this process to a single building (even IF it is our own special building) would greatly hindersome play styles.
This post is incomplete 'cause I can't think of a good closing.

do the IDs want to go through with this idea?
"make a new profession to give you your feats.... "
the dev's won't do that. there will, at least, be no new professions until space expansion. i think feats make sense as an ID ability because it is tweaking your character's abilities. does "personal trainer" not fit with that?
image designer, in my opinion, shouldn't be completely restricted to cosmetics. if they are, they will never be taken seriously. the dev's want every profession to play a role in the GCW, and i think feats are the most interesting and sensible way to do so.
I'm not sure how Neverwinter Nights words it, but feats are an action not a reward or bonus.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
feat
- A notable act or deed, especially an act of courage; an exploit.
- An act of skill, endurance, imagination, or strength; an achievement.
- Obsolete. A specialized skill; a knack.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
[Middle English fet, from Anglo-Norman, from Latin factum, from neuter past participle of facere, to make, do. See dh- in Indo-European Roots.]
Synonyms: feat, 1achievement, exploit, masterstroke
These nouns denote an extraordinary deed or action: feats of bravery; achievements of diplomacy; military exploits; a masterstroke of entrepreneurship.

So as a "reward" for do a feat, I feel it should be a post master profession Quest/reward system, and not have a profession that hands out rewards.

i meant like, combat players taking IDs seriously.more will, if combatants have a use for IDs other than asking them to paint their nails...
when i first heard ''image designer'', i thought it would be painting, and whatnot. i was consideringbecoming one until i read the description. obviously, they mean your personal image, as compared to pictures. i really don't think ID should be under entertainer either, rather under a seperate 'artist' type starting profession. thats a whole different thread, though. or maybe with tailor.
anyways, as a 'personal trainer/tatoo artist/hairstylist' description of image design, i can think of no better profession to provide feats to players while at the same time fleshing out an existing profession more.
i don't quite understand why you would dislike the ability to do this. it can't hurt, can it?
bumpin this puppie cause i still like it
maybe as an addition we may want to have a point based benefit penalty system
========================
maybe have;
+accuracy 5
+speed 5
+damage 5
+run speed 2
+mind regen 6
+spice resistant(spice downer 50%shorter) 4
--------------
-accuracy 5
-health regen 6
-action regen 6
-metabolism(food buffs last 20%shorter) 6
======================
so someone can pick;
+accuracy -health regen
or
+mind regen -metabolism
this allows customizability but makes it so you cant unbalance by having
-run speed +doc buff
or something else that is non equitable
maybe make it so that people can gain multiple abilities but have a max of 10+- points
-----------------
just something to consider

two things ronin.
feats would not be used to improve only combat. it would be universal. just because i am a combatant does not mean it is the only thing i care about. i am a roleplayer before anything else.
i'm terribly sorry for going out of my way to post an idea that most IDs seem to at least be willing to work with and modify if neccessary. i still think feats are a practical use for IDs that would neither turn you into buffers or into non-socializers. explaining all their choices, helping others, and taking time to design a person is what i thought image design was all about.
How about this?
IDs do something to the player, either changing hair color or whatever they wish as usual.
Player then gets the option to have his feat applied, which is dependent on his classes title. The bonus would be small, and dependent on the class, and might only be one or two stats. Only feats for one Class title can ever be active per player at a time.
With people changing classes all the time, and new players, ID's would be sought out by players to have their character "adjusted"
People with multiple classes could have the feats applied to the class title they wished by having it selected. They could then change their title to whatever they wanted, but the feats would not change to correspond unless they went back to an ID.
Tying in feat change to a manditory Image change is a thought as well, although some people like the way they look.
So not buffers, more like Image stylests. More sought out and social. You could sit in your house or cantina and wait for people to come to you. Treat it kinda like a entertainer buff where you have to stay focus on the target for 3-4 min or so at master to feat to apply.
Just a thought.
