What do you need to start a guild?

One overly priced, under quality guild hall..

How many people do you need in a guild?

At least 5 members to keep it from disbanding..

Can you start a guild without startig a town?

Yep..

Your guildmates have to go to the Guild Management Terminal and set there allegiance to the new leader. I think like a City it checks once a week to see who has the most "votes" and sets the leadership to that person.

Hi All ,

This may be a silly question, but is it possible to belong to more than one guild? The reason I ask is that I was thinking it would be nice if in addition to the normal guilds, professional guilds could also be formed such as a guild for iders where we could all come on a given server to receive training, agree a 'standard' guild price which would hopefully eliminate some of the current uncertainty and also hopefully reflect the monetary level of a given server, circulate details of problem clients or ones that had been particularly nice to their iders and so on. Another possible option for such a guild would be an allocation system so that things like stat migrations can be handed out to the iders who need the xp rather than the masters who often neither want nor need the migration xp. Anyway, just some thoughts.

Interesting idea Rowana, but I don't think you can belong to more than one guild at one time in SWG. At least I've never seen it.

Aguild based on similar profession would actually moreclosely related to the classic definition of what a guild should be, and I don't see why that can't be accomplished for at least those players ( of any faction leaning) who don't want to deal with the PVP aspect of this game.Guidelines could be set upfor prices and to discuss any other issues that may affect IDers. However, I wouldn't want to necessarily see any binding type rules for anything.

Hmm... at the moment it's only possible to technically belong to one guild. But there are other... organized structures of players out there that are kind of inofficial, but are still there.
One example of that would be the DEA, the Droid Engineer Association. It's a group formed by alot of DEs not only on one server but over the whole game, organized over mailing lists. They support each other with mails about all kind of usefull stuff (resource spawns and the like)

I'm pretty sure there are other organizations like them.

I would be interested and willing to join an association like that.

I proposed the acronym of C.A.I.D. for this purpose on my server. it stands for Corporation of Artists Image Designers.

It's not getting momentum for now because:

1/ i'm a busy wookiee with lotsa politicking on her hands (Guild, Wookiee Unite project...)

2/ there's no real incentive (beyond setting standard prices as a guild should)

3/ it's difficult to get hologrinders interested in anything beyond xp/second ratios

Hi All ,

Well I'm willing to set up a site on Yahoo or similar to take care of the mechanics of emailing all the members of such an association. How about for a name A.I.D. ? (Association of Image Designers). My next question is what would everyone want from such an association? I know I put forward some ideas at the start of this thread, butI thoroughly agree with Pisceana that guidelines are better than anything hard and fast. So let me know what you all want and I'll set up the site and put the link up here or in a seperate thread if everyone thinks that's better.

Best wishes, Rowana

I tried posting this once and was one starred and forgotten about

My idea was the Association of Image Designers <AID> who would AID people to look good.

Then, I changed it to <Image>

But, whatever

I didn't think there was a guild forum, so I'm asking my question here.

How do you transfer the guild leader position to someone else? Does it have to be through vote, or can it just be done laterally?

Thanks,
