The Salons are pretty dull places too. Spruce them up a bit, give them a little more floorspace, have some ambient light and decorations. Make it at least pleasant to be in, and not like I'm some squad leader detailing plans for an assault on the pimples of the zabrak...

The tents aren't done yet. I posted about it somewhere or another a few weeks ago The plan is for three of the terminalsto be replaced by furniture, etc. Our dev didn't have time to put in decor before the tents had to be pushed to TC. The earliest we would see the renovations would be Pub 9.

I have, at this point, done ONE stat migration. I've been keeping my title OFF all this time. And after doing that one stat migration (for a guildmate's RL friend, I might add), I feel fully justified in keeping my title off. I got MID for myself and my friends/guildmates. I don't care to be interrupted by someone begging me to come in out of whatever I'm doing to the tent to sit at the window for ten minutes.

Then again, while waiting for the 'client' to show up last night... I sat in the tent for about a half hour. It was in Moenia, which isn't exactly Theed, but still. In that half hour, the only people I had any contact with were people outside the tent at the mission terms, discussing what kind of missions they were going to take. If they're going to make IDs sit in a spot and wait for clients to stroll by, we should at least get Merchant ID for doing so, since all we are doing is playing 'vendor'.

Wow...it's nice to see that the image designers don't like the stat change deal as it is presently either.

I'm all for giving you a droid and not making you take any time at all...just click on a button.

Because you ought to get paid something fairly decent for having to be bored out of your gord for 10 minutes while waiting to be able to migrate my stats. Unfortunately, I have newbie characters on some servers who really need to be migrated for combat effectiveness. I don't usually beg for handouts or the like, but my char really needs the migration.

I've asked several image designers whenever I run across one. I'm obviously dressed in newbie clothes because I can't afford anything better. The char has partial stat migration that was started before the ID changes but isn't going to be allowed to finish (how about a grandfather clause on the stat migration, anyone?).

So I'm reduced to going up to image designers and hoping they will be nice and migrate me for a newbie fee of some kind that's less than the 30k they advertise. I thought 30k was expensive but to sit in an ugly tent and be able to do no more than 6 of these an hour being bored out of your gord...30k seems cheap. That's 180k of game cash for a RL hour of utter boredom. Heck that's not so much more than what a master artisan can make in a similar time while grinding out an elite crafting profession. I have sympathy for the image designers. And I hope they get their droids so that they can at least tell the potential customers to come to them.

I think most image designers would push a little button for someone obviously in newbie clothes with newbie weapons for some sort of 3-4k newbie tip that showed they at least ran a few missions for the migration if they didn't have to wait 10 mins to do the stat migration. I think the 10 mins thing is a really bad idea and that maybe consideration should be given to letting new characters migrate their stats very slowly...maybe half the speed previously...until they master at least one profession of some kind.

What do image designers do with respect to new players? I'd like to know. Because my experience hasn't been good so far. And it's something the new player has to ask an ID for...sometimes at a time when the new player doesn't really have enough to adequately compensate you for 10 minutes of utter boredom in a tent that looks like a cell.

If someone is obviously new to the server, I ask for whatever they can afford. Usually, it's around 1k and then the person ends up coming back to me a few days later and tipping me more credits since they now have the cash. Since I'm also working on Tailor on Eclipse as well, I usually end up making the persona shirt, pants, and bootsto get rid of that newbie look.

I keep my MID title up on both Kauri and Eclipse, but try to pawn off stat migrations to Novice Image Designers ... if there is one to be found. A lot of players don't realize stat migrations are not a Master skill. I like doing Image Design and proud to have Mastered it. Yeah, we got a pretty bad deal with the stat migrations, but I'm not going to complain since it's bringing in a lot of credits and a lot of new clients.

People like you are the reason I spend most of my time on Kauri. But my new char isn't there. The new one is on Gorath...Don't ask me why I picked the server that has zone deaths...I didn't know at the time.

I've had lots of folks on Kauri offer to help. One time I was asking everyone if they could train my Rifle skill. And someone asked sarcastically whether I didn't have enough money to go over to the NPC trainer (on Kauri). I told him I didn't expect him to believe me but honestly I didn't. He apologized for his attitude and tipped me 20k. Kauri is like that. Not all the servers are. And I havnen't figured out why. Maybe since Kauri was one of the first servers the nice folks who just enjoy living in the SW universe stayed and the folks who like the constant challenge of getting everything from scratch on other servers left...I don't know.

The search feature is nice. We also have this nifty sticky thread that lists some of the known Image designers on a server. Perhaps if you E-mail one of them and make some sort of prearranged appointment they will be more amiable to travel. I know I would be more willing "Meet me in Bestine in 2 hours" as opposed to "Meet me now." Or "Next time you are on could you send me a /tell so we could talk about this."

I'm more likely to move for an appointment, but not for a last minute "drop what I'm doing to come help you" thing. Ya know. Especially since I'm roleplaying most of the time and hate to drop everything and go especially when I'm not exactly working (tag down)

Thought I would give an update on my quest.

I returned to Naboo and logged at the image design tent.

I began doing searches while waiting inside the tent. ( Watching TV to pass the time. )

After about an hour still no luck.

Decided to go ahead and submit a ticket to a CSR, since this is day 3 of tent camping.

I recieved a friendly e-mail which told me I needed to travel to different planets doing searches.

If an image designer could not be located on any planet I should contact them again.

This weekend I will begin traveling the galaxy.

Wish me luck.

I will also try the image designers listed by server in the forums and see how that works out as well.

Thanks for the ideas.

I can not speak for every Master Image Designer in the game but I can speak for myself. I dont like the tents. I dont like the fact that there isnt a droid module that would allow me to do the samething at my house. My house is about 1200m west of Theed. If i travel to Theed it takes me 30 minutes when i go past the cantina to do anything because of the lag. My chat is laggy in Theed, I type something and it takes 2 minutes for it to show up in spatial chat.

Like Shivash said, we didnt want to be the only way to migrate stats, personally i would have been thrilled if we could have done it faster instead of being the only method. Waiting 10 minutes to make your stat sliders move isnt why i became an image designer, i just wanted to make peoeple pretty and spend sometime talking to friends. I like to work from my house outside of Theed and only go that way if i HAVE to.

Since this revamp, I havent been searchable. If youre on Lowca in Theed and look for image designers, youre not going to find me there. Give me a droid module and we can talk business.

I love the droid idea hehe, though I doubt IDs will get it.

Wow, I just realized I missed this post in earlier reads over this thread. Heh. Anycase.

It gets more attention, but not the good kind. Remember, TH and SoE in general screen over messages for the ones that have high message/noise ratios. And the same person reiterating something results in just raising the noise.

Well more and more Image Designers are becoming rare. One of my good Master ID friends on Bria is not doing ID on anyone anymore since she's been stormed by players non-stop asking for this and that because ID's are hard to find. She hasn't surrendered ID because she knows she'll never be able to get it ever again, but she's hiding her title and only helps close friends.

As for myself, finding an ID during peak hours is HARD! Very hard. There's either a lineup for the Master ID, or they are hiding their Title because they had 10 people asking for some ID or stats migration.

As more time goes by, more Master ID's will be hiding their titles and only helping friends or guildmates... OR... they will charge insane prices like 100k-200k for a full make-over. Yes, that's very sick in their minds, I know, but hey, any Master ID before publish can abuse their powers since barely any new Master ID's are appearing anymore.

I can imagine finding an ID At The Moment/On The Fly would be a bit difficult. We are [or were] the second least populated profession throughout the galaxies after all.

Hopefully, actually having a needed function will address this. Especially seeing that needed function is accessible at Novice ID, which by most accounts seems to only take 7 to 10 hours to obtain of self-grinding [I feel real pity for the non-human Entertainers who want to take up ID].

I also suspect that the demand for Stat Migration at the least will die down after a while once folks get over the "We can't do it as we want anymore! Oh no! Rush the Salon!" sensation [hyperbole].

Pricing... Pricing as it stands now will probably need another general revamp given how the timers work now. As a pleasant sidenote, some IDs I "grew up with" probably have some quite happy clients, because they actually got away with charging for time-based sessions instead of basing on actual changes.

To my surprise, I've had a lot of people ask me "are you working right now?" when I have my tag up. Wowzers!

I hope that this is not true! I do want there to be more image designers, but if they way to attact new IDs is our new critical function, then that completely changes the nature of a profession that I love to do! I am really afraid that the main function of image designers might become stat migration and doing makeovers will be considered something extra in the profession.
