Thread: Found my first ID Stat Migration Terminal... Brrrrr

Disregarding whether or not the situation was true, here are my thoughts on things as they've been presented in the thread.

As a Master Image Designer I would never just start grouping people to keep track of the line. I always chat with and get to know the other ID's in the tent so I'm familiar with what they can do. That way if someone comes in and doesn't need master-level work, I can point the customer to an ID who can help and who needs the xp. As an MID, I certainly don't need the xp or the credits. /shrug I consider it to be common decency to give others the chance to acheive their goals, and its not really depriving me of anything.

So far as the problems mentioned with keeping track of customers, I always have a notepad by my desk so I can write down names and keep track of the list that way. It's the same thing I do when I'm performing Entertainer buffs and when I'm in charge of a large group with a waiting line to get in. It's simpleand it prevents people from getting too pushy. If you have a group of people all waiting for ID work, do you really want them all to hear what you're saying to your current customer? Interjecting their own opinions on how you're working, possibly even scaring off the other customers? I know I don't.

In my humble opinion, this MID, fictional or exactly as depicted, was horribly unprofessional and unkind in his or her treatment of the other Image Designers. It's my opinion, feel free to agree, disagree, use, or abuseit as you see fit.

Ok, I don't want to get into an argument, so first let me apologize for the snort. It absolutely wasn't necessary. I just can't really relate to taking posts on a game forum so seriously. That said, I don't believe I am the only one on a high horse. You say that you are concerned about the ID reading it and being hurt by it. At the very least, she would have the opportunity of defending herself, if she wishes. Perhaps it is true that she was caught up in group or guild chat and simply didn't see the messages, and in no way meant to be rude or inconsiderate and had no idea that it appeared that she was being so. Maybe in the future, all IDers that read this will take better care to pay close attention to those around them. Of course, this is all assuming that the original post is true, although I can see no logical reason for fabricating it.

It seems as though you fault Jnome for posting his experience at all. What are these boards for if not for relating experiences, good or bad? How is the profession ever going to evolve if all we do is pat each other on the back and gripe about being the "most ignored profession" (aren't they all :-))?

I think if the object of the original post were merely to cause hurt to the ID in question, there are alot easier ways of doing it. That's all I'm saying.

As Tralmek said, I always try to "touch base" with my fellow IDers in the tent and send anything non-Master their way. I remember what it was like changing my eyecolor for the 4 millionth time and the utter relief it was to get to change someone else's. :-) I never group more than one customer at a time (although I do forget to disband sometimes :-)), for the simple reason of privacy for myself and my clients. It also makes it much easier for everyone if another ID comes in that can help them.

As to the price thing, since I really don't frequent the forums all that much (can probably tell that by my post count), I had no idea it was such a sticky subject. For my part, I really don't mind one way or the other, whatever people find that works for them, I am supportive of. I can understand both sides of the situation.

Again, Mawie, I am sorry I was dismissive of your concerns and hope you won't hold it against me. :-)

Anyways in walks Miss personality... It was somewhat busy when she did.. There was like 3 of us non MID's and her.. She starts groupping several players waiting... I found that rude to.. but hey maybe it's just me..

I honestly don't see a problem with this, happens all the time with most of us IDers on Chimaera. If there's alot of customers still waiting for an IDer then the first IDer available takes those customers. Atleast that's the general rule in Bestine's ID tent. First one to finish a customer gets the next one waiting.

I make a habit of visiting tents when I'm nearby but I don't steal customers. I won't even take any customers there until I ask the current id's there if they don't mind me taking a customer or two, or if it gets very busy and a bit more than they can handle. I'll generally take non-migration requests and let those seeking the xp get them. In situations when it does get busy and I take a customer or two, I'll tell my customers to tip one of the up-andcoming id's instead of me, as they could prolly use it more than me.
