Thread: Found my first ID Stat Migration Terminal... Brrrrr

Anyways me and another ID start doing the tell chat while IDing are current customers... I happend then to look at her Bio.... OMG she had prices for every little thing.. Prices if you messed up and wanted another ID.. Prices if you messed up on your stats.. etc... Even a price for explaining how to go about setting your stats...
I honestly do not see a problem with this. I know that back when I was an ID, I loathed and despised explaining to people how to set their stats. That information is all over the place, and it took time up to explain over and over again how to do it. That is time I could have been with an other customer making money. I also hated it when someone didn't set their stats right and wanted a second FREE migration because of that. If you look up some older posts of mine, I am a sucker and would do it just because I would feel bad... but then later on I would be angry at myself for doing that. In a way he/she is saving him/herself their sanity. I can honestly respect this person for being upfront and saying that they will not tolerate beggars or people wanting their services for free...

Well I did see another MID in there lastnight with a price list... Granted her 1k for HoloEmotes wasn't to pricy... I had just gotten a 10k for giving a player those myself. He was real happy about the whole HoloEmote thing and my showing him them.. ![]()
I don't know if this MID was you or not.. But this MID at least had a pulse and was evn nice and freindly
The one I was discribing wasn't... ![]()
Funny thing is it's not about the money from me. Granted I would give up ID in the long run if I got zero tips all the time. But I make my focus the enjoyment and socalizing that comes with this profession.. And I have a blast and just happen to get rich doing it. ID is the perfect profession for me lol

I also fail to see how this person is a "stat migration bot." Just because they are charging for their services (and explaining how to set one's stats IS a service)does not make them a bot. They might be "cold" in your eyes, but they are ATK, and thus not a bot. A bot is someone who AFK macros their services.
Oh I wasn't complaing about her prices per-say... Yes they seem alittle dragoon to me. I am a ID who belives 1n an open fee policy.. Pay what you as the customer feels is fair for the work. Works well for me.. No hassles
And I feel in terms ofmoney. The Open fee ID's make alot more money then the set fee ID's. I mean all the ID's I talked to that have an open fee policy always tell me about those big tips they get. Hell Saterday mornning I had a 1.2 mill tip from this crazy but nice rich Doctor just for a new dew, and a stat migration.. While the stat migration terminal would have gotten her 15k flat fee.. And I enjoyed the conversation I had with him to boot..
And it feels less like work anyways lol
My gripe was her rather chilly additude... For me it seems a prerequsite you have to have some sort of persoinaly to be a good ID... I think a Buff bot had more personailty then this player... /shrug

hm, I disagree with charging for information about how to stat migrate. I think it's part of the job, and I really don't mind telling people the basics of how to migrate. As far as detailed information goes, like, what are the best stats for a BH to have, I generally tell people cheerfully I don't know and perhaps it may help if they have a peek at the forums. For most people, however, a simply explanation works. I've had a couple of frustrating experiences, but overall it's not too much of a bother.
I'm not saying I charged for explaining how to migrate a person's stats... in fact, I most likely would not have. But it is this person's perogative to do so if he/she desires.
Charging people is personal thing. What seems like a crazy thing tocharge for one person might be perfectly normal for an other. I know that I used to charge based on how I was feeling. Some days I would tell people to tip me what they felt my service was worth, and others I would have set prices (usually only on stat migrations when I was an MID).
I think bashing someone for having a specific price list borders on slander (or libel, in this case). This person has no idea that tons of people across many servers are seeing them being trashed on the forums. What makes someone cold in one person's eyes might make them business-like in an other. I have nothing personal against Jnome, but coming onto the forums and badmouthing someone who cannot defend themselves is just a terrible thing to do. Clearly you do not know this player, and have no real concept if they are nice or not. Some things you considered rude in your original post are actually fairly normal practices (such as grouping with people, making a line of customers, so you KNOW who is next). The point of being an MID is to be able toprovide EVERY service. You basically called this person names because they could provide services you cannot, and grouped people in the tent so they could keep track of who was next. That's sad and arrogant.

Sigh.. I am sorry you feel this way about my post.. Mostly I post to add to the commuinty at large... Here's my point-by-point reply.
I would agree with you that if I had mentioned names I would be in the wrong. I would have beenslandering a players name and rep whatever it is..
Your also right. I don't know this person personally.. Another reason for notbring up there name here. But then they never gave me a chance to know them, due to there put offishnature of ignoring me and all other ID's that have had run ins with her. /shrug
Not that it matters really. But I have been MID in the past.. I wasn't mad about the grouping all players looking for ID service in order to assure her there buisness. It wasn't the money. It wasn't the fact afew other players might have needed the xp themselfs. To me it just went against the spirt and friendly nature I have come to percive in the local ID commuinty on my server. /shrug
Both show a lack of respect and consideration for your fellow players. To be quite honest, after going through the grind myself, I don't see how one could NOT come away with some sense of community without some lack of (as my grandmother would say) good breeding.
As for the price list thing, while it is not really my style (set price for migrations, all others for tips), I can't fault her for it. I have to admit to having a little cattiness in my bio because of getting tired of getting balked at for my stat price (same as everyone else's on my server as far as I know). I do not need to do stat migrations for xp, nor do I particularly enjoy them, therefore I am certainly not going to do it cheaply for those that can afford it.
As for "slandering" the player *snort*. First of all to even be considered slander (or libel) it must be readily apparent who the player is and by legal definition must be untrue.
But that is just my 2 cents.
